Now this is potentially great news if true. I don’t care if he runs off to be a lobbyist or something. He’s a terrible speaker and needs to go:

DAILY BEAST – In non-Syria news, HuffPo’s Ryan Grim and Jon Ward reported yesterday that some GOP Hill rats are now starting to say on background what most of us have been assuming for quite some time—that John Boehner won’t seek reelection in 2014 and thus will end his tenure as speaker.

If so, he will have lasted just four years, and, it must be said, a pretty crappy four years, when the House has passed almost no meaningful bills and when the most meaningful one it did pass, the sequester, is widely acknowledged to be a disaster and an admission of Congress’ inability to do its job. And remember, we still have, after the Syria vote, the looming government shutdown and the debt-limit fight coming this fall. A brief government shutdown and a credit default, while undesirable generally, would provide fitting capstones to a terrible tenure.

if he is planning on leaving, I hope he doesn’t screw the country on the way out more than he already has. If he’s just thinking about his next job, it might be a rough ride to 2014.

  • Bill in Tennessee

Good bye, and good riddance.  Maybe his district will elect a conservative this time.

  • PressWatchusa

Don’t be surprised if he is offered a job on Obama’s staff in the White House
    He has sure earned it!

  • Dukehoopsfan

I smell a rat.  He apparently secured his next position in exchange for inactivity on obiecare and assorted other “phony” scandals.

  • Rshill7

That would definitely explain a few things. Doesn’t have to worry one whit about what the people want…not that he ever did mind ya’.
Why not step down now John? We could do so much better replacing you with a small pile of fresh goat poo. Please leave a box of your favorite Kleenex on the way out just in case the goat poo needs it.

  • hrh40

Not speaking to the Boehner news but commenting on the writing:
“…is widely acknowledged to be a disaster and an admission of Congress’ inability to do its job….”
This is just gross editorializing at its very worst.
    1. The sequester has succeeded in lowering the deficit, to the point that Obama will soon be making the case that we don’t need any more cuts, I’m sure.
    2. The sequester was Obama’s idea, which if these propagandists would acknowledge, would absolutely change their tune about it.
    3. The ridiculous cuts, such as shutting down WH tours and cutting national parks budgets is sheer political abuse from the Obama administration. The president could take less lavish vacations, travel with his family AND HIS DOG all together, and that right there would restore WH tours.
    /end rant

  • KeyserSozay

He better not. Everyone know Obumbles has naked pictures of Boner with a farm animal. It’s the only thing that explains the complicity of this idiot. You better believe the first thing Obumbles did was have the NSA collect data on them AND their families. Hence SCOTUS rewrites health care and passes it. Plain to see really.

  • E Lee Zimmerman

Good riddance.  Go back to whatever rock he crawled out from under, Kleenex and all.

  • DocBarry1

The House Repubs must remove him now – he has been the weakest of House Leaders and now if he is on his way out – he will, indeed, side – even more -with Obama’s agenda
The House needs to put in a real Conservative in his role so that the House will represent the people that put them in the Majority – again remove him now before another vote is taken

  • The Sentinel

It would be nice to see his next “job” as a prison term where his weepy tears will be appreciated.
He’s a rotten person and needed to go about 3 years ago.

  • The Sentinel

    KeyserSozay
Lol! It might explain why Boehner has be such a ‘chicken’ lately. Wink.

  • Stehekin912

Johnny, now that we are out on the green and no one can hear us, I will expose all your little secrets unless you do exactly what I want, and then do not run for re-election.  Got it?  Good boy.  Hand me the putter.

  • Stehekin912

Statesman Congressman Allen West for Speaker!

  • PressWatchusa

If he has ANY honor – He would start IMPEACHMENT proceedings ASAP !

  • Stehekin912

Sarah!  Tell us how you found Statesman Senator Ted Cruz…we need alot more of him and right soon!

  • mike3e4r7

Hey Boehner, how about just stepping down now, you useless tool?  If Cantor thinks he’s just going to step into Boehner’s shoe’s next year, he’s got another thing coming.  Change of plans.  We go after Cantor now.  Primary him first.  If he survives his primary challenge, then we get behind his Democratic opponent full force.

  • Amjean

I bet they put in someone just as/almost as bad.

  • Atlanta-Esquire

Dear God, please let this be true!

  • Amjean

KeyserSozay You got it!  And, perhaps they didn’t do anything wrong.  If they can “wag the dog” on Syria, etc., the Obama thug administration can certainly do the same to congress.  And our tabloid obsessed public would mostly believe it!

  • applepie101

Too late. Republicans have lost my vote permanently. He’ll probably be replaced by Cantor anyway.

  • PVG

Oh please, oh please, oh please ……..

  • Rshill7

I was going to link to a related article on this which is supposed to be in The Ulsterman Report, but apparently instead of servers over there, they use something more akin to a wooden abacus, so the page takes till your next birthday to load, but by then you’re craving a slice of well-candled cake.
Maybe it’ll load for some of you:
Anyway, Beohner’s been like Obastard’s prayer rug and doormat combined.

  • Laurel A

Could it be because he knows he will lose?

  • iceman97

applepie101 Best reply on here… As if the next guy isn’t going to follow in the footsteps of being a blathering, Obama fearing wuss (stronger words are in order but not fit for print) with NO-backbone, no moral conviction, no political convictions and a ruling class insider who’s personal wealth is much greater than the average of whatever he did before he become a Professional Liar and Theif.

  • harglide

Wonder if it will be a (usual) tearful departure????
    Crybaby go home!
It will be a joyous one for most! He has been worthless, and spineless!

  • harglide

@PressWatchusa: PLEASE OH PLEASE oh please!!!!

  • Orangeone

Laurel A Could it be that he has received a multi-million offer from Obama’s OFA and promised to destroy the US on his way out?

  • Orangeone

applepie101 VA better man-up and yank Cantor from that seat.  They should be blasting Cantor on his amnesty with the murder of Asian collegel student Vanessa Pham by an illegal alien taking up residence in a VA sanctuary city, just convicted of first degree murder.

  • Orangeone

mike3e4r7 VA can blast Cantor with the murder of Vanessa Pham but an illegal alien.

  • Orangeone

    Stehekin912 Yes!

  • Orangeone

hrh40  “travel with his family AND HIS DOG all together” There are 2 dogs now unless Bo has already been the main course at a dinner.

  • Orangeone

Stehekin912 Properly vetted so the amnesty likes of Rubio, Paul and Ayotte don’t slip through.

  • jdbaird

I think Boehner is a bad Speaker but not for the reasons the Daily Beast article says, if the article was being fair it would have pointed out how few house bills Reid has brought to the senate floor for a vote. Basically in this situation, with the republicans holding only the house, you need a speaker who’s the polar opposite of the president and the senate majority leader, and who’s willing to poke Obama in the eye every chance he gets. Boehner just doesn’t have the temperament (guts) to do that.

  • Laurel A

    Orangeone Laurel A Did he?

  • Laurel A

    jdbaird Excellent assessment.

  • Laurel A

I hope he takes his little friends with him.

  • JungleCogs

It’s time for a change in Washington; the GOP sees this and it looks like Boehner is seeing the writing on the wall.  He is no longer effective.

  • Leel004

then does that mean he might grow back some balls??????

  • ladyjk

Does this mean he finally gets the hint?

  • Scolded for the Truth

    Please go, please!

  • palintologist

A politician not running for re-election?  The payoff he’s getting must be life-altering.

  • Booker

It’s time for a conservative champion to step up to the plate.

  • mder4thegov

Going to go out like the corrupt, RINO, weasel, I thought he was.
He’ll take his golden parachute benefits, profits from insider trading tips, and go on all the liberal networks, and diss conservatives.
John Boehner:  the white Colin Powell.

  • DanaZZGarcia

If Boehner were to force a vote and conference on amnesty, I can think of several billionaires who would be very grateful.

  • Orangeone

Laurel A Orangeone I don’t know, I’m posing a question.  It would certainly connect the dots.

  • Laurel A

    Orangeone Laurel A Oh.

  • bhliberty

Agree with you wholeheartedly RS!  This is kinda bittersweet!  On one hand, it’s clear to me he’s a moderate and why he won’t fight to defund liberal causes such as the ACAct!  So, the potential for the speaker to roll over and ignore the wishes of the conservative constituents is strong!  He’s not running for office, why should he care?  That’s the bitter part!
On the sweet aspect of it, the potential to replace him with someone more conservative could be favorable!  Of course that is if the Democrats don’t find a way to buy votes!  Hmmm…..!  (They’ll just finance it with Saudi money!)

  • Orangeone

    Laurel A Orangeone I hope Drudge is sniffing around :}

  • DarkKnight2016

Well then I guess next in line will be Eric Cantor. Let try it out….Speaker Cantor. If he does become Speaker of the House I believe he will be the 1st Jewish in United States history to do so.

  • stage9

Lucky for him! or is that lucky for us?
    WHICHEVER! Good riddance FOOL!

  • stage9

  • freeperjim

Force him out now before he screws America in 2014 elections.
How to force him out now is the problem….

  • njmom

Something don’t seem right about this, maybe because its the Daily Beast. I’ll wait til its verified or its from another news source before I comment.

  • njmom

DarkKnight2016 I’d rather see a more conservative Speaker.

  • lanahi

njmom DarkKnight2016  If we get more conservatives in the House, we would have a more conservative Speaker.  They don’t have to vote for who is “next in line”.

There was a minor attempt to unseat Boehner prior to this but no real challenger, so they voted him in again.  This may be one of the reasons he wouldn’t run for the House again…he is losing support in the House.  Also keep in mind that Democrats vote for the House Speaker too so would vote for the one most liberal.  They could even vote for Pelosi again, even though she is in the minority party now.

  • lanahi

Dukehoopsfan  I don’t care what he does next, as long as he gets out of the House or any position of power.

  • tinlizzieowner

    – In non-Syria news, HuffPo’s Ryan Grim and Jon Ward reported yesterday…..”
    Daily Beast? Huffington Post?

  • Orangeone

lanahi njmom DarkKnight2016 And the attempt was going to seat Cantor.  Boehner and Cantor are joined at the hip and both need to be unseated in 2014.

  • Orangeone

stage9 Booker We need to campaign for the Democrat running against Cantor if he isn’t primaried.

  • Orangeone

Laurel A Orangeone Go Drudge Go!

Happy days are here again….the sun is going to shine again…..Happy days are here!!!

  • OldmanRick

He doesn’t need to run again. The brat promised him a job for life since he caved and now supports the bombing of Syria. Rather than an Obama useful idiot, crybaby Boinker is a useful, idiotic eunuch.

  • Rushlimbang

Lets not replace him with Canter who is just as stupid.

  • lawngreen

If only this idea would catch on with a few MORE leading democrats…

  • CarolynDixon87

his little shadow, eric cantor wants to be speaker of the house and won’t challenge boehner if he stays.  i don’t want either one to be speaker because they are both jackasses who care more about their political careers than the people they work for.  and that goes for paul ryan too.  all three need to get out.

  • Conservative_Hippie

” Happy Days are here again, the skies above are clear again….!”

  • JS2020

But the Daily Beast thinks Pelosi was a wonderful speaker…………………….
The voters are much more happy that not much has been done since Boehner has been speaker, but he is definitely a weak jawed fighter.
The problem is, who will replace him?
Is there a chance of losing the House?

  • RickeyGlover

Resign NOW!Allow the Pub gov of Ohio to appoint a new, hopefully conservative, rep with a backbone!Vote for a new majority leader, hopefully also with a backbone, and let battle operations(in the house) begin!

  • MiltonBassHayek

Is he retiring because he’s buying into a tanning salon franchise? Oh, who cares? Get the hell out and don’t let the door smack you in the a$$ on the way out, you wanker!

  • SisterMary

Wait. What?  The Sequester is Boehner’s fault?  And it’s widely acknowledged to be a disaster?  Crap.  I’m always the last to find out.

  • iaintlyin

hahahahahaha, someone should tell him once he gave up his morals, principles and….. ahhhhh, forget it, i hope its true and good ridda…… I mean good luck to him.

  • Swordfish

    Dreams do come true.

Who’s next in line, Bob Dole?

  • kong1967

Who’s he going to lobby for?  Pansies of America?  Diapers for politicians?  Tissues?
He could write a great book….called “Cry Me a River”.
I hope it’s true.  Good riddance.

  • jamesbotts16309

He’s got a fat cat lobbyist job waiting for him after he helps push through amnesty. He’s going to sell us down the river the same way Trent Lott and Bob Dole did.

  • PVG

    Rushlimbang And far more corrupt…………

  • JoeLabbe

    Champions Tour?

  • Stehekin912

That is the scary part.  The libs will join together to elect their candidate, even if that candidate is not their favorite, and the GOP will tear itself apart voting for this one or that one, and lose the Speaker chair entirely.  Idiots.

  • Longiron

Say what you want about Nancy Pelosi but she had more courage in her little fingure than the whole RINO/GOP. Could not stand her but as far as the job she did for Barry and the LIB /DEM Party she was very good. In fact she still runs the HOUSE and Boehner and Cantor are just figure heads. If Boehner is gone hope the HELL Cantor does not replace him or Paul Ryan. Tney both are just younger problems and are loyalRINO/GOP members . We can do way better than that him.

  • https://sites.google.com/site/warpminesblog/ warpmine

He could leave now so the country could get something done with a principled conservative speaker. Oh, wait, sorry, I forgot that we were speaking of a RINO.

He is jumping ship the way most of the rats are prior to 2014 – they are getting out before they are:
    1) forced to participate in ObamaCare,
    2) forced to own up to their own constituency, and
    3) forced out of town on a rail.
    Good riddance, I say.

  • poptoy1949

NOW that is Great news.  As long as he is not replaced by Eric Cantor…………

  • kimber1911

Well I figured thats what cowards do .. They runaway and fade into the shadows,,

  • Samwise24

At this point, he’ll be lucky if his constituents don’t tar and feather him.

Too many people in the power structure.  They need a speaker. Some paid pro can keep the books.

  • RReaganRepublic

McRINOcrat Speaker Boehner knows that Patriotic American grass roots conservatives have had enough of, and will no longer tolerate this traitorous GOP Est McRINO, and he will be defeated one way or another, even if we have to vote for the Democrat in the 2014 mid-term election in his Ohio district to remove him from power ad office once and for all. In other words, he’s finished, and so are all of McRINOcrat sycophant assistants- Cantor and McCarthy, aka the 3 stooges.

  • Dr. Strangelove

Too bad. If the R’s lose the house, they could pick him for minority wimp.

Peelosi was the worst Speaker in our history and has done serious damage to the Republic. We need a Tea Party Speaker and more fiscal conservatives in both Houses o Congress. Hopefully the Senate can be flipped in 2014 and we will get a twofer with Reid and Bohner gone.

    • DSharpark

Yeah, that’s exactly what we need… a few more nutcases to screw up the country for good.

      • Doc3

Ah the cry of the Lefty Loon. If you want to see fruits and nuts Google the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Who elects this pond scum? The Tea Party stands for less spending and debt, reducing the size and cost f government and for restoration of Constitutional liberties. These values are despised by the New Democratic Progressive Union Socialist Communist Fascist Party. It is a big slimy tent without restroom facilities.
