Rush Limbaugh may leave Cumulus high and dry

If Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey thinks he’s got revenue issues now, just wait until Rush pulls out of 40 Cumulus radio stations and hooks up with their competitors. All Dickey has at that point to compete is Huackaphony. Ha!

WASHINGTON TIMES – Rush Limbaugh just might pack his suitcases and leave Cumulus, a media shake-up that would leave 40 stations around the country without the voice of one of the nation’s biggest names — and advertising draw — in radio history.

An unnamed source told Politico that Mr. Limbaugh is mulling the move because Cumulus Media CEO Lew Dickey has publicly faulted him for advertising losses due to comments about Sandra Fluke. Ms. Fluke was the Georgetown law student who teamed with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to push the need for free birth control for all women. In a February 2012 broadcast, Mr. Limbaugh referred to her as a “slut.”

Mr. Dickey said Mr. Limbaugh’s comments led to the company’s loss of $5.5 million at three top stations, Politico reported. But the actual numbers aren’t known, and Mr. Limbaugh is still tops in radio. He still pulls the highest ratings, Politico reported. And if he leaves, 40 Cumulus-owned stations would have to stop playing his show — which could then be picked up by competing stations in top markets, including New York, Chicago and Washington, Politico said.

“It’s a very serious discussion, because Dickey keeps blaming Rush for his own revenue problems,” the source said, in Politico. “Trying to blame Rush for [revenues loss] is not much of a business partnership.”

Have Huckabee, and O’Reilly cleaned Rush’s treadmarks off their foreheads yet?  lol

  • badbadlibs

Because of Sandra (I’m easy) fluke?????? This lew dickey guy must have caught the terminal level of stupid. Move on Mr. Rush, leave that idiot in your dust.

    • Orangeone

badbadlibs We should pool together and send Ms. F1uke boxes of Plan B with the advertisement that it’s available over-the-counter. Maybe she could make her millions as their spokesperson.

      • harglide

We should send her a donation of condems, a years worth, so she would stop bitching about not havin it when she needs it, due to Conservative intrusion!
I mean, once a slut, always a slut!!

        • Orangeone

harglide I read a snipett that San Diego is giving condoms to kids as young as 12 years old.

        • harglide

Yeah, I can not EVEN imagine how this stupid day after pill is going to boost junior and miss into having way, young sex, and having big sis or bro obtaining the pill! Hopefully it gets outlawed quickly.
If Ida been given a condem at 12, it would have sufficed as a flippin water baloon! I had no clue at that age what the heck they were.

        • Orangeone harglide
Libtards have a pedophilia streak running through them! It’s the only logical conclusion for their trying to make sex objects out of younger and younger children.  SICK BASTARDS!!!  Hey Libtard!  Leave those kids alone!!!  All in all you’re just another sicko to fall!!!

        • badbadlibs

Orangeone  There are very sick, evil people in charge of things these days. I believe we are experiencing what the world looks like when God turns people over to their vile wishes and would rather worship the creation over the Creator.
It’s only going to get worse. Dear Jesus, help us stay strong and live according to Your ways.

        • cabensg

harglide  Birth control is just an intermediary step until they can turn all the kids into homo’s then birth control won’t even be necessary and if they want any kids they can us invetro or adopt from foreign countries.

        • badbadlibs

WolfieUSA  You’re on a roll today, my friend! A “pedophilia streak” is closer to the truth then we dare to imagine!

        • badbadlibs WolfieUSA
Closer then they want us to get…   I really believe that too, wasn’t saying it for effect.

      • badbadlibs

Orangeone  Can we instead, send her a one way ticket to North Korean on a leaky boat?

        • badbadlibs Orangeone
But.. but…  She might not make it… That boat might sink… And what a tragedy that would be, huh?  😉

        • badbadlibs

WolfieUSA  Call  me a dreamer! 😉

        • Orangeone

WolfieUSA badbadlibs Orangeone Shark food, yum yum, or would they spit her disgusting carcass out?

  • white531

Good for Rush.  He has achieved a level of professional excellence such that he doesn’t have to put up with this sort of thing.

  • lawngreen

So Rush caused a revenue loss by speaking the truth plainly, if rudely, in an attempt to alert people to ridiculous excuses for expensive legislation? First, I’d like to see an independent auditor confirm that. The experience of Chik-Fil-A sort of contradicts that, doesn’t it?

Second, did Dickey ever consider that he might be marketing to the wrong clientele? Or that he has a responsibility to his country to put his country first? You know, kind of like “to this endeavor we pledge our lives, OUR FORTUNES, and our sacred honor”.
Rush, what are you waiting for?

  • pushtheredbutton

Who cares? I don’t. Rush is controlled opposition folks. Sooner y’all understand that, the better.

  • Nukeman

Money talks – you know what walks. Rush has them by the proverbial…well, you know. Anyone who spits in the face of their own golden goose doesn’t deserve to reap the benefits that goose provides.
I say go for it, Rush. You can create a market anywhere you go. Dickey, on the other hand, relies on the likes of Rush Limbaugh to fill his coffers. Without Rush, he will really know what it cost him to side with the likes of a Fluked-up Sandra.

    • MiltonBassHayek

      Nukeman balls?

      • Nukeman

        MiltonBassHayek Nukeman
        Gee, you DO know.

        • MiltonBassHayek

Nukeman MiltonBassHayek I’m definitely not a dim bulb. Haha!

    • cabensg

Nukeman  If Dickey (great name) thinks Fluke is so great have her replace Rush. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha !!!!

    • clockwindingdown

One would think Dickey would keep his mouth shut and be happy for the revenues he has. If Rush’s comment cost them what Dickey claims then Rush’s leaving would be much more devastating then a temporary set back such as the fluke issues was.

      • clockwindingdown Nukeman
NObody ever accused libtards of having brains or using intelligence thoughts or arguments…  😉

  • njmom

If anyone should go it should be Dickey and he probably will because if Rush leaves and Cumulus crashes the stockholders will see to his exit.

  • marketcomp

I can’t help thinking that Rush was thinking about this from the point of the so called ” slut ” comment, which is true. But. Rush as incredible star power and whatever he does I know will find him.

  • Rush is THE KING of daytime talk radio. He has a huge following and can go and do whatever he wants. I can’t see anybody in their right mind actually willing to let him go. Well, either way, Rush will come out fine and on top, like he usually does.

  • MediumRare

Cumulus is good at this. If you follow SEC college football, their Sports Talk radio star Paul Finebaum told Cumulus to stick it when his contract came up for renewal. Apparently Cumulus knows how to kill the goose and golden egg talent they profit from.

  • NYGino

Won’t bother dittoheads a bit.  All we have to do to stay with the truth is turn the dial.  Rush is da man!

  • MiltonBassHayek

Pull the plug, Rush! Screw those politically correct corporations and their advertisements. The King of Talk makes policy; he doesn’t listen to a know-nothing tell him that his “speech” caused profit loss. Kick Cumulus to the curb, brother!

  • MiltonBassHayek

Sandra Fluck-off is a prostitute! I see nothing wrong with calling a courtesan a courtesan.

    • harglide

    • BetseyRoss

MiltonBassHayek Actually Rush never called her a slut in the beginning.  The question was what do you call a woman who has sex 3-4 times a day and wants We the People to pay for it?  Actually slut wasn’t the word I would call that situation.  It took about two days for the Libs to get their panties in a was and then all things went berserker.  You nailed it.  So did Rush.

  • nibblesyble

Do it Rush, go and take your immpressive audience with you…Dickey will have to seek medical help to get his foot removed from his big mouth…ahem..hope ObamaCare covers it!

    • NYGino

nibblesyble   Probably would cover it, guy that idiotic , his condition must have been pre-existing.  Oh, I forgot, there is no more money for pre-existing conditions.

  • kraig4u

If  Dickey seeks medical help, ,first his head has to be removed from his a*s, then foot can be removed from mouth !

  • Laurel A

    I hope he does.

  • cabensg

I’ve read several reports that said revenue from radio advertising is down for many radio stations. My opinion, the economy and the internet are the main factors, although the boycott against Rush might have had some impact at the time I doubt it lasted as long Dickey states revenue was effected. If these stinkin liberal leftist trash business owners want to make everything about politics, I say go for it. So far it’s hurting them more than it’s hurt any conservative. Conservatives need to withhold our dollars from any company that thinks backing the left is more important than doing business. That goes for every sponsor that thinks it’s okay to back news shows that refuse to report the truth. You want to save money what better way to save than sticking it to those who refuse to see the harm, or think it’s okay and support the leftist agenda.

  • edsmanedup

Maybe Rush needs to pull an XM or a GB on them…be very afraid…

    • steveangll77

edsmanedup Glenn is a RINO in conservative clothing who occasionally produces very conservative TV and Radio.  But his Real News team is solid RINO and very biased.  They often undo what Glen just did on his TV show.  I rarely listen to them, checking from time to time to see if they cleaned up their act.  His forum is also tightly controlled and he censors out any comments that conflict with the RINO message.  For example making the case that Conservatism was what won in 2010.

      • clockwindingdown

Now that’s funny… contradict yourself much,”I rarely listen to them…

  • Hawkman007

Blessed that I have him on Clear Channel media…..They would never cave into the leftist pigs-they know the power of talk radio and the dollars that they would lose.

    • DebbyX

      Hawkman007 Never say never!

  • cherpers

Yeah I think it’s dumb that he blames Rush. Unless he really wants Rush to leave he ought to keep his thoughts private.
That being said I don’t listen to Rush much anymore. This is a sad thing for me as I grew up listening to him I so appreciate what he has done for our country. I don’t know why but he just isn’t dynamic any more. He does the same thing year after year now, doesn’t take any risks and doesn’t have terribly unique or compelling things to contribute to the discussion. I’d much rather listen to Beck or Levin, men who actually do things and affect ongoing debates. What has Rush really accomplished in the last 10 years? I wish he’d have done half as much as Beck has in half the time.

    • RighteousCrow_JustCaws

What has Rush really accomplished in the last 10 years?   More listeners.  Rush repeats because he has an ever-growing audience.  This is very good for us.  He also has moments of astute analysis embedded in his programs, based on his long history on the air.  Levin is still my personal favorite because of his lifetime of political passion and the perspective he brings from his first hand participation in government and law.

  • notpilgrims

Media Matters is getting ready to pop the champaign the minute Rush leaves.

  • yazz55

Cumulus is a publicly traded company, ticker symbol CMLS.  I don’t own or follow this stock and accordingly have no opinion on it as a potential investment.  But, if you do know folks who DO own this stock, you might want to ask them to email them as their status as investors to complain about the potential loss of a valuable revenue source.  Don’t just email corporate management.  Also contact members of the board of directors.
