Our family has been blessed with an opportunity to showcase all that is good and strong and free about our exceptional nation.

Even though the media too often sadly chose sound-bites over substance, they did get lots of substance during our “One Nation” tour from the nearly two dozen opportunities I got to speak candidly with them and talk about policy, politics, history, and everything in between. More importantly, I got to talk with countless everyday Americans who want to get our country back on the right track.

    If she understood the constitution she wouldn’t have written ‘One Nation’ on the bus. We’re supposed to a be voluntary union of free individual sovereign states the purposes of which are listed in the constitution. If the constitution is violated, the contract is void and states have the right to secede. One Nation indivisible?-not if you believe in the constitution.

        Given that the pledge was written by francis bellamy a totalitarian communist, in 1895, shortly after the rise of karl marx who coined the phrase ‘social justice’ what exactly do you think ‘justice’ means?

          The current pledge of allegience was not written by Bellamy. A Marixst would not have included “under God” in any pledge. I would not say the pledge unless it had “under God” in it. Since bellamy as you say was coommunist he owuld not have mentioned anything about God. Btw, Karl Marx was an athiest.

            Under god was added in the 40’s to distinguish us from godless socialists. It’s the only thing american about the pledge. We also stopped performing the nazi salute when reciting the pledge about the same time.

                  Friend, The “under God” transforms the words in the Pledge of Allegiance to me. Not to personalize it, but my mother and father served in WW2, my father was a Naval Communication Specialist and Pearl Harbor Vet. My mother was a corporal in the Marine Corps. When I say the Pledge it means more to me than some Libertarian hangup, it means loving a country that stands as a beacon of God Given Freedom in an otherwise godless world. I hope that makes sense to you.

You continue to mindlessly recite a pledge that never even stood for freedom in the first place. So, no, I don’t think I’ll ever understand that.

                  But the Pledge does stand for Freedom as it is currently written. If the country no longer stands for freedom “under God” then that is a different issue. Please understand me I am a Christian first and an American second. If the Freedoms that this country were built on disappear then I must remain true to my God and it wiull be at that point that I will defy my country and serve my God. We are not there yet and I am still holding out hope that America will return to it’s foundational christian values as spelled out in the Declaration of Independence.

                  wehnerw, answer me this… When will know that the USA no longer stands for Freedom?

                  The pledge doesn’t stand for freedom because ‘justice’ really means social equity, which is incompatible with liberty, plain and simple. And one nation indivisible rejects the notion that the states are free to leave if they feel the govt no longer represents their interests, therefore making it essentially impossible to restrain the Feds.

                  The country gets less free every year, but ‘Standing for freedom’ is kind of subjective. In my opinion we have’nt been free since 1865 when lincoln used bullets rather than words to convince the south to stay.

              Actually “under god” was added in 1954, that version was the fourth version of the pledge.

              You’re close – in five days, Flag Day, the phrase “under God” will be 57 years old. President Eisenhower signed it into law June 14th, 1954.

              You’re right about the original salute being similar to the nazi salute – with one difference – it started with the hand outstretched toward the flag, palm down, and ended with the palm up. FDR instituted the ‘hand over the heart’ gesture as the salute for civilians on December 22, 1942.

              btw The original salute was known as the Bellamy salute and it was used before nazi salute was adopted. Because the Bellamy salute was similiar to theirs is the reason FDR changed it.

            Or it comes from Rousseau and the french revolution’s phrase “Liberty, Equality Fraternity”, which required that the state would impose the ‘general will’ on all the nation. Any dissenters be deemed sinful enemies of the general public.

              Europe has different definitions for the same words we use. I think you are using their definition. Bellamy may have meant to edge into our thinking process his meanings but IT DIDN’T WORK! There is a huge core of Americans that will never give up that for which the Founders stood and fought.

              I may not be as young or as strong as I used to be but the spirit of freedom is as alive as ever in my heart. They will have to stop my heart from beating for it to be destroyed.

          Actually Bellamy was a Christian Socialist, not a “totalitarian communist”. As for the term “social justice” Marx lifted the term from a Jesuit, Taparelli, who extrapolated the idea from the teachings of St.Thomas Aquinas. Marx then twisted the concept to fit his ideology, much like Rawls did.

      To: Mr. anti-Pledge of Allegiance.
      One Nation (under God) indivisible isn’t a geographic distinction. It is about our values. Liberty, E Pluribus Unum, and “In God We Trust” are the three values that hold us “indivisible.” These are the values that made our country great and it is the diminishing of these values and growth of the European values of “equality” and such that will bring our country down. That is what she, and all of us mean by one nation.

The comparison is that Sarah loves this country and just wants the principles that made it great to be re introduced to Americans. The lies and distortion that are placed everyday from the major networks is starting to rear its ugly head. The very people that say they are out for the little guy are destroying the country! Look at gas prices and food prices. The little guy has to purchase these and they are going up. We have a president that can do something about it and yet has done nothing. Can someone tell me why we support him still? I don’t and never will! Tell me one thing about Palin that does not stand for the foundations of this country? One? She is Americana and do not doubt the power of the people.

      Short of an amendment, there is no provision for secession in the Constitution. It’s WE THE PEOPLE, not the States of America. It’s not a confederacy, nor a compact… it’s a consolidation WITH overriding powers to States. The Declaration talks of changing government only through revolution, not of secession. Madison declared secession NOT to be a Constitutional right. Patrick Henry talked of dangers of disunion leading to war… and voila!…The Civil War put an end to any ideas of secession talk once and for all. So, wehnerw, you are dead in the water finding solace in the constitution. Go troll other waters. We don’t stock up on Soros here.

What exactly do you think revolution looks like? In fact the american revolution was based upon the principle of the right of secession against tyrannical government. Of course the founding fathers supported secession they just fought a war over it. Knowing that democracy would inevitably evolve into a system of legalized plunder, the federalist papers are filled with talk about secession as protection from the federal govt. But nevermind me, clearly I’m just a soros drone.

              Actually prior to 1913 ( the 17th Amendment) Senators were appointed by the Legislatures of their State, not elected. You see the original purpose of the Senate was to represent the interests of each of the “several states” and the House was to represent the people of each of those states, that’s why the House of Representatives is also known as “the People’s house”. Contrary to your assertions “the power of nullification” has not been lost, it just hasn’t been used in so long that it’s a bit dusty, however, it is being “dusted off” and rediscovered. As to secession, that was a hot button even for the Founders (Federalists vs. Anti-Federalists) and the “right” to secession was ,in effect, shoved to the side and left there undefined. However it was expressed in a matter of speaking in the Declaration, although not as a “right” of the state but as a right of the people, big difference. The Founders believed that government (federal,state or local) had no rights, that rights belonged to the people not institutions, that is why it reads; “to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.” As to the states having “control of their own funds”,actually they do, but, if a state accepts federal money, that money is given over for a specified use(i.e. education funds are used only for education not to repair state roads) then they are required to spend those funds for their intended purpose. The Republic is only lost if no one will stand for it and there are plenty of us out there that aren’t tired of standing.

                That is simply untrue. Many states adopted the constitution on the condition that they could secede. The Virgina ratifying document explicitly reserved the right to take back the powers delegated to the federal government if in the future that government was abusive of their liberties. They were excepted into the union with that contingency thus allowing all states to assume they had those rights because the constitution does not allow for one state to have more rights that next. Just before the civil war several laws were introduced to make secession illegal, if it was never a right, why would they bother outlawing it? The laws never passed by the way, but of course that didn’t matter to Lincoln.

          Somehow being a piece of colonial real estate and a vast Ocean of separation between England and the Colonies under a system which didn’t hold America as equals, … a de facto enforced vassal jurisdiction, would be meaningless to you, I suppose. Neither would the Colonies attempts to redress the numerous grievances against the Crown consistently over time sway you.

          Your appeals to the Constitution are pointless… there is no provision for secession, a fact pointed out by Madison. Jay and Hamilton got into the discussion as well, as you pointed out in the Federalist Papers where the question was addressed regarding the possibility that the Constitution would not be ratified. The argument later hinged upon the nature of a unified compact with or without secession rights and nullification rights of the states. The arguments continued well after the Constitutional Ratification. In the end, in practical terms, the non secession idea won out, with a war to settle it.

          Amendment is the only route for your balkanizing utopia secession idea. It’s a bad idea where “nations warring within the bosom of a single state” are allowed to fester. This is not the case in America. The only war in America is the war by left-wing progressives against all the founding ideas and principles of the USA. The secession idea is dead… jump two centuries ahead. That’s why your comments about Palin’s bus and secession are pointless. Nice try at relevance though.

          P.S. Violating the Constitution doesn’t void it… violating the Constitution only… what’s it called again? Oh yeah, violates it.

          Here’s an idea for you… I agree in secession for progressive-democrats. Let them secede onto ice flows. We could send them with entitlements to comfort their transition.

          So the ‘point’ that you were trying to make in your original comment is that Sarah Palin is somehow advocating the totalitarian control of a big centralized government by having the phrase ‘One Nation’ on the side of her bus?
          That’s a big stretch, I think.

          Palin has always been a staunch advocate of ‘Less Government’ and a supporter of State Sovereignty and States Rights.
          So I personally see that ‘One Nation’ as more of a rally cry to remind us that we used to be ‘One Nation Under God’, than any sort of other message…subliminal or otherwise.

    This is one amazing woman. Just to watch her in this video clearly shows both the reason some many Middle class Americans admire her, as well as why all the people on the left fear her. She is GENUINE! She tells it like it is. She is not afraid of breaching the party line of daily B.S. The political elite just hate that on both sides.
    The bottom line is I believe this lady is doing exactly what we need done right now, bringing the conservatives together, speaking the truth about where this great country stands in history right now.
    The Real American people can take the news no matter how bad it may be and are ready to unite to make the tough decisions that need to be made to get back on track, after all we have to live that process everyday in real life, don’t we?

    If she choose’ not to run, I believe she will better serve her country in this role as a Average American who cares about our great country right now, it will only allow the conservatives more time to unite and put together a cohesive message for the rest of the country to review and move forward on.
    The progressives are losing people in droves right now only because their policies are being played out in front of all to see, and they are not working.

    We are the greatest country on the planet and have been so since our inception,
    we have a lot of work to do so lets get it done and lets focus on exposing these people who want to “fundamentally change our country ” for the traitors they are.

    We do not have to follow the rest of the world in this New World Order because we are the country that showed them how capitalism works, we don’t need any global order to tell us what is right, we invented that concept, they should follow our lead and they will provided we do the work we have to do.
