Sarah Palin article: As Freedom Destroys Itself

Sarah Palin at National Review on reactions to Washington Navy Yard shooting.

Her article shows that she is thinking about how we, as a nation, should respond to such an immense tragedy.

Excerpt:

The first thing politicians ask after these tragedies is essentially: “What can we do to limit the freedom of the people?”

And that is the wrong question. The question we should be asking is: “What can we do to nurture and support a people capable of living in freedom?”

For those who have been following the usual, leftist political circus that always emerges in the wake of the death of innocents, Palin’s article is a reminder that calm reflection on our heritage before taking action is a better way to honor those who are harmed by senseless violence.

Great questions from Palin. I volunteer with my county’s mental health system, and I can tell you those people are working their buns off, but the only support for their system from the money people is for more meds and inclusion in society. Trouble is, some people are not capable of that. Meds don’t cure everything. People need more freedom, but average citizens should get involved in caring for the mentally disabled/disturbed. Most of these incidents are perpetrated by people with mental health issues, and big gov’t isn’t doing squat to actually help.

    • kong1967

I think we are over prescribed and over medicated. There’s a medication for every symptom, and in many cases if you stop taking the medicine after you’ve become dependent on it you go nuts. Anti-depression medication, for example. Many cases of multi-murders where a depressed patient stopped taking his meds prior to the murders.

      • B-Funk

Very true for a vast majority of us. There are some out there who need something, but honestly I wonder if we didn’t medicate so many as kids how many would actually need medication as adults. I’d be willing to guess there’s a correlation, and that, under those circumstances, the number of adults who need meds are limited to those who are truly unstable.

    • Betsey_Ross

So true. We keep thinking that the so-called experts know better than us. Big mistake. Human behavior is so unpredictable, even on medication. One has to assume that those meds are taken. Almost never the case.

      • B-Funk

Their case workers can tell if they’re taking their meds, but as you say, most of the time it’s assumption because they’re not in the office.

    • deTocqueville1

Exactly, great post. The progressives emphasize ‘liberty’ for the poor folks who are deranged and the criminal offender but not for the general public.

  • JohnCraven

Sarah Palin posted a photo and caption from a friend today on her website:
“I can see Putin’s foot on Obama’s behind from my front porch!”

    Ditto!

And Ditto! to this brilliant summing up of what we should be doing to in response to the Washington Navy Ship Yard shooting and it is very much the same thing we should be doing in response to Syria’s civil war and anywhere else for that matter:

“The first thing politicians ask after these tragedies is essentially: ‘What can we do to limit the freedom of the people?’

“And that is the wrong question. The question we should be asking is: ‘What can we do to nurture and support a people capable of living in freedom?’ — Palin
I hope she is asking that and answers that she’s running for president of the United States of America in order “to nurture and support a people capable of living in freedom”.

Sarah is not perfect, then again, none of us are. One thing is for sure, she is a patriot with good foresight and insight. Certainly she should hold a position within the bowels of our ship.

    Thanks for posting that Bob.

    • keyesforpres

I would prefer she be at the wheel.

We must stop letting demagogues grab the microphone, set the narrative, and exploit these tragedies. Notice the dead never get the recognition, respect, and mourning they deserve thanks to the demagogues?!

And K-Bob…I love it when you post. I find that you look at slices of life through a particular angle that many of us miss.

    • Thanks! I do get triangular now and then.

Jesus Christ said, “…The poor will always be with us…” and in similar fashion the violent, like the poor, will always be with us. You could pas laws banning knives, forks, guns, explosives, and the violent would use rocks and tree branches for violence if they could not locate any of the former. Only quadriplegics and quadruple amputees are free from the performance of violence. The violence is in the man, not in the rock or tree limb.

    • badbadlibs

That last sentence, to a democrat reads like the following:

    • keyesforpres

Dems know that. It’s just a ruse they use to try to disarm us so they can control us and kill us by the masses.

  • Rocco11

Love Sarah, but she should have campaigned for JD Hayworth, and not Captain Queeg McCain. Country first, remember?

    • That was back when the deficit was under 5 Billion. She had just adjusted to leaving the Governorship, and the Giants won the World Series.

Now move along a few years and you’ll almost be caught up.

      • Rocco11

Oh, you’re right, McCain has been great since then. Thanks dopey…

        • There’s that giant, whooshing sound again.

As an aside, read and follow the Comment Policy.

    • mainelysteve

Hayworth was voted out of office by the very people he wanted to re-elect him, WHY???

  • Soon liberals would take away garden tools because of their deadly criminal acts……I hate to bring up evil incarnate, because no one likes evil incarnate, but George W Bush was right when He talked about the evil in mens hearts being the problem.
Sarah Palin is right about politicians looking to take away freedoms too quickly, we need to take politicians away quickly too….
We simply have to see politicians as pieces of human debris before we have a sensible and cognizant understanding of what we’re dealing with.

    • deTocqueville1

Marxism and statists generally reduce individuals to the level of widgets. It is their objective and is always done in the name of the collective good. Just listen to 0’s speeches.

  • kong1967

I love that woman! Great article.

“Instead of offering real solutions based on facts, reactionary
politicians offer us the politics of emotion, which is the opposite of
leadership. It is the manipulation of the people by the political class
for their own political ends.” — Sarah Palin

That’s it in a nutshell. The left uses emotion to manipulate the people into supporting their communist views. It’s not about protecting us, it’s about controlling us and giving government more power over us. The left lies in wait for the next mass shooting so they can pounce on emotions and use them to advance the next anti-constitutional gun law.

The same thing applies to Obamacare. Everything the left claimed is proving to be a lie, and everything we claimed is proving to be coming true. Among many lies, more people are going to be uninsured than what there were before the bill, and that was supposedly the reason for the bill…to give access to everyone. Do you see liberals wanting to kill the bill because it’s having the opposite effect? Nope, because it’s not about coverage. It’s about control. “Coverage” was just an emotional way to get people to support a communist law.

    • CalCoolidge

      You are both right,
It’s in Orwell. “The two-minute hate,” (extended to 24 hrs by MS NBC
It’s in Alinsky “rub raw the emotions.”
It’s in “The American President,” “He’s worried about making you afraid of it and telling you who to blame for it. That’s how you win elections.”
The politics of fear and hate. Democrats.

      • kong1967

It’s not an easy tactic to defeat, either. When emotions take over, common sense goes out the window for many people….which is why those people vote Democrat.

If you want to see Liberals’ heads exploding all over the country, just elect Sarah to any office in government…. Senate, VP, or even President. Hehehehe, you will see massive meltdowns everywhere. If Hillary does become a viable candidate in 2016 (and she manages to transcend her Benghazi failures), then the most polarizing candidate we could put up against her would be Sarah Palin. Plus we would have the added amusement of seeing leftists put in screaming fits of Palin Derangement Syndrome…. it’s a win-win scenario.

    • NPC

You’re ready for some circus atmosphere, aren’t you?
Yeah, I remember the last screaming fit by that hag, not a pretty picture nor a sound I like to equate with a Presidential Office occupant.

      • Bill in Tennessee

Circus atmosphere? Sure…why not, obama has already driven the clown car into the center ring, and oh MAN the clowns that piled out of THAT car. Van Jones, Valerie Jarret, Ben Bernanke, Pelosi Galore, Hairy Reid, Richard Trumka, and the morons just keep piling out of the car. There’s not enough IQ among the lot of them to operate a flea market, but there they are, trying to run America. God save us.

I love Sarah Palin, she speaks the truth no matter what garbage the left throws at her…she is a champion of the people and a follower of Christ!

    • badbadlibs

That last part is the very reason for the target on her back. Her detractors are followers of satan and can’t abide by the Holy Ghost that dwells within her! She stands for life the left stands for death. Polar opposites. I believe to this day, that God Himself gave America one last chance (with her candidacy) to choose Him over satan and satan won this battle, sadly.

Much wisdom as always in the Gov’s article. She recognizes and has been a consistent advocate of the need for ‘virue’ as the underpinning of any constitutional polity. From Aristotle through Montesquieu the philosophers have recognized the requirement of moraliy as the basis for a representative government.

The Founders and Framers were deeply cognizant of the Judeao Christian roots of their endeavors. Almost everyone of them noted the need to seek Devine guidance in the continuing struggle against the temptations of power, as the essential element of a free self governing people. They devised the Constitution with all of the checks and balances with the foregoing in mind.

Palin is seeking the restoration along with those great patriots Levin, Cruz and the others. She knows we cannot succeed without a return to a viruous culture.

    • 57thunderbird

As I have said many times before if we continue to live to in a society disconnected from itself , such shootings will continue to happen. Where I live in the suburbs I hardly see people coming out of their homes, either the computer is on or the tv, or someone is on some mobile device, things are not lookin good for this country, the foundations are weakening.

  • virginiagentleman1

    As Freedom destroys itself.

I love ya Sarah and will do everything in my power to help get you elected as POTUS 45, but Milady, it isn’t freedom that is destroying itself, but the forces of totalitarianism that is destroying freedom.

The problem is that good men and women stand idly by and DO NOTHING. Nero was accused of fiddling while Rome burned. How are our fellow citizens any different? Far too many don’t want to get involved, don’t want to become TARGETS for the lefts ire. They have been thoroughly browbeaten into abject submission to ‘authority’, and the ‘fight’ has fled from their souls!

At a time that our Constitution is crying out for her Warriors, too many have turned a deaf ear, either from not caring, or, as I suspect, moral COWARDLINESS.
How shameful they must feel that when asked to stand up for their Constitution, their very freedom and liberty, they cowered instead.
Why else are the same corrupt politicians, re-elected time and again, if not for those who refuse to do their Constitutional duty to vote.

Some say that NOT voting is a vote! NO! I submit to you that not voting is a dereliction of a citizens constitutional duty!

Did you read the thread posted about the parent who was ARRESTED for exercising his rights as a citizen and parent.

He voted with his FREEDOM of Speech and was arrested for it! The others in the room stayed silent, and simply watched like cowardly sheep as one of their own was arrested!

They DID NOT VOTE because they were afraid THEY might be arrested! They gave in to the fear eating at their tiny brains, AND DID NOTHING!

    SHAMEFUL BEHAVIOR!

On second thought, Palin is RIGHT! Freedom IS destroying itself because the SPIRIT of Freedom does not seem to fill every citizens heart and soul. Cowardliness reigns in them, and NOT the fire and passion of a PATRIOT.

Freedom and Liberty are withering away, and WE are responsible, because we FEAR. The left is simply making use of our fear to destroy freedom forever in America, because they know not enough of us will FIGHT to retain it! Shameful!

America has great need for her Citizens, her PATRIOTS, to join together and combat the depredations and outright evils of a totalitarian state.
Are YOU such a person? Only YOU know the answer to that question.

The truth is: Statism hurts everyone. (Except the few in power.)

Free people doing what they want with their own property (free markets) is what made our nation prosperous. All people had hope that hard work would raise their standard of living, for themselfs and their children. And we prospered like no other nation ever.

    Black/White, Male/Female, Rich/Poor, Gay/Straight, Tall/Short, . . . doesn’t matter.
All do better with liberty. As a reference – see ‘History’.

Could someone tell me how many times we had terrorist/domestic attacks in this country after 9/11 under Bush? Every time we turn around now, someone is going nuts since Obama took office. Is it me or were there just as many under Bush and I was not paying attention?

    • Dr. Strangelove

The regime stresses these attacks as a way of promoting their gun control agenda. More or less of them? I’m not sure but violent crime as a whole has gone down as restrictions on the second amendment have been relaxed.

Last Wednesday, the great usurper, Barack Hussein Obama, after having been indicted by an Ocala, Fla.,citizens’ grand jury, was convicted by a people’s court of defrauding the American people and Floridians by proffering them with a fake birth certificate. See CitizensGrandJury.com.
As readers of this column and WND know too well, Obama is not a natural-born citizen eligible to be president of the United States, as he was not born in this country to two American citizen parents. However, to justify his fraud and his elections to the highest office in the land, and after years of inquiry, in 2011 the Obama White House posted on its website a birth certificate purporting to show him having been born in Hawaii. The problem is, however, according to forensic experts, the birth certificate is altered and forged.

The day of reckoning has come. Obama, having failed to plead in response to the indictment that was served upon him, waived his right to a jury trial. Thumbing his nose at We the People, as the citizens’ prosecutor, I appeared before a citizens’ court judge and presented evidence from Cold Case Posse investigator Michael Zullo showing that Obama tricked voters into electing him in 2008 and 2012. As a result, the citizens’ judge found him guilty on two counts of falsifying information to federal and state election officials. He was thus sentenced to the maximum prison term for these offenses of 10 years and ordered to immediately surrender himself into the custody of the citizens of the United States and Florida.
Of course, Obama will not willingly obey the law of the people. He will attempt to hide behind the iron fences of the White House, perhaps cowering under his desk for fear that the people will rise up and demand his ouster.
Help Larry Klayman with his class-action suit against Obama’s use of the NSA to violate Americans’ rights
On Nov. 19, 2013, a day that will hopefully live on in the history of our once great republic, I call upon millions of Americans who have been appalled and disgusted by Obama’s criminality – his Muslim, socialist, anti-Semitic, anti-Christian, anti-white, pro-illegal immigrant, pro-radical gay and lesbian agenda – among other outrages, to descend on Washington, D.C., en masse, and demand that he leave town and resign from office.
I further propose that we borrow the techniques perfected and used by such epic crusaders such as Mahatma Gandhi to show Obama and his enablers that the American people are more than fed up and will not take it anymore. The millions who are being summoned to our nation’s capital should mass in front of the White House, chanting for Obama to get out of our nation’s capital. In addition, I propose bringing the victims of his reign of terror to a podium across from the White House in Lafayette Park to give their testimony on how he has singularly severely harmed and in some instances even killed their loved ones through his actions.
In the words of Thomas Paine in the days leading up to the first American Revolution, “These are the times that try men’s souls.” The nation under Obama and even his inert and castrated political opponents, the Republican Party, have driven our country into the bowels of impending doom. The moral and ethical fabric, our economic underpinnings, and our national confidence and prestige are in the tank. Russia has become the leading world power, however evil and compromised under its communist KGB leader, Vladimir Putin. The United States is a mere shell of its prior self under real modern leaders like Presidents John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, to name just a few.
We must act now. Our Founding Fathers pledged their sacred honor, fortunes, and lives to form a new nation under God. They knew that the odds of defeating the British were not great, save for His Divine grace and intervention. Now, 237 years after they signed the Declaration of Independence in my native city of Philadelphia, the nation has come full circle to the tyranny that has been imposed by a new despot, one far more evil than King George III. King George III may have been a greedy “control freak,” but at least he was a Christian. The United States is being run by a Muslim bent on furthering an Islamic caliphate who seeks to destroy our spirituality and the body politic of our Judeo-Christian roots.
Life is not easy. It requires risk and sacrifice. If as a nation we want to restore our freedom, and we are on the verge of being enslaved under Obama’s socialist Muslim inclinations, we must take our fight to a new level. Tea partiers, bikers, construction workers, police officers, school teachers, farmers, truckers, clergy, housewives, husbands, students, doctors, lawyers and all elements of our society who see our nation slipping away into the abyss must now stand tall and descend on the capital.
Obama has now been convicted of having defrauded the American people into electing him as president. Even more so than Nixon during Watergate, he has no legitimacy to remain president and must be forced to resign. If We the People do not demand justice and remove him from office, then we will be furthering his fraud and we will have no one but ourselves to blame for the death of the greatest nation ever to have been on this Earth.
In the words of one of our great Founding Fathers and an architect of our Constitution, “We must, indeed, all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.” Benjamin Franklin walked the walk along with the likes of George Washington, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. Let us now walk in their footsteps and march into to Washington, D.C., this Nov. 19, and free the nation of the criminal who lurks in our White House. Let us send a message to the other corrupt government officials of all political persuasions, that this is our nation, not theirs. Let’s “Occupy Washington” and restore freedom to our shores!
