This may seem like an odd weekend to watch a documentary on the Armenian Genocide of 1915, but I just watched it myself a few days ago and I wanted to go ahead and share it with you. The first half of the documentary is all about the Armenians under the Ottoman Empire, starting in the 1890s and going through 1915 when the main genocide occurred. The second half is about the lengths that Turkey has gone to deny the genocide, even teaching a propaganda version of the story in schools and persecuting those who have tried to tell the true story of what happened.
It’s an excellent documentary and one I highly recommend it. It runs only an hour:
