Scoutmaster: Repealing ban on gay scouts will “destroy scouting as we know it”

Considering this is a CNN interview, I was worried they might have picked some yo-yo to take the ‘anti-gay’ side of this debate. But I was pleasantly surprised to listen to John Stemberger’s arguments and rationale for standing against the repeal of the ban on gay scouts. His main point is that the ban on gay scouts is about keeping gay activism out of the Boy Scouts. As it stands there are members who are gay, but Stemberger said there’s no witch-hunt to find out who these boys are and evict them. In fact he makes the point that the issue here is that it’s not good enough for gay scouts who already exist to be in the scouts. It’s about pushing the gay agenda into the scouts and he says if that happens it will destroy scouting as we know it because many groups who sponsor the scouts will leave because of a conflict with their faith.
