Sen. McConnell on Mark Levin Show: Disclose Act up for a vote on Monday and it must be defeated

McConnell told Mark Levin Friday night that the infamous Disclose Act aka ‘Government Intimidation Act’ is coming up for a vote in the Senate on Monday (tomorrow) and he’s urging people to call their Senators and tell them to vote no on it so that we can defeat it.

McConnell explains it below:

Basically, if the Disclose Act passes the Senate, then groups like the Tea Parties who receive corporate donations to support or oppose a candidate has to meet new regulations to be compliant with the govt. The only problem is that the Democrats have carved out of the bill unions and other groups that support them. So basically, this is an attack on not only free speech, but an attack on the Right

Its important is right that this be defeated.

    • kong1967

Why just the Senate? Doesn’t this bill have to go through both houses?

      • anyonebutbarry2012

        passed the House in 2010

        • kong1967

Whoa whoa whoa. Are you telling me they can bring up a bill that was voted on two years ago in Congress? Why wasn’t it voted on in the Senate at that time? That’s basically saying that if you have the votes in Congress and not the Senate, you can vote in Congress now and just let the bill sit until a much later date after the demographics have changed in the Senate before you vote on it there.

I only know the basics of Congressional rules, so you really threw me for a loop. Can you fill me in a little more?

Edit: I looked it up, and I see that the Senate wasn’t able to reach an agreement to take a vote on their own version. This should be illegal and there should be a time limit before the whole bill dies. The libs passed it before we cleaned them out of office and it would not be able to pass in Congress now. This is BS.

  • I may not be able to vote, but I can call and I can e mail. I intend to.

Tell them that you might not technically be a US citizen but that Bob IS your uncle.

I really think the Democrats have a special committee somewhere that comes up with these names that are misleading in all these bills they put forth. The Disclose Act is really the hide the Union activity Act. The Affordable Care Act is certainly a bill that will give us unaffordable care. Card Check, whose formal title is Employee Free Choice, is anything but free choice. It’s merely a Union Intimidation bill. And of course we all know Pro-choice has nothing to do with the choice of the soon-to-be dead baby. It’s really pro-death and anti-choice.

I wish we had someone in the Republican side who would grow a pair and come out to say what these bills really should be called. I guess I want them to call a spade a spade, but then the Dems would say that is racist talk. Part of the non-vocabulary, as it were.

Nukeman60, Obama is the special committee! Last week when he me with the democrat leaders I believe that one of the plans was to come up with this stupid bill to see who the contributor’s are to Romney’s campaign. The problem is that I believe it also has to go the house where it will be killed. But, I would think that democrats would not even be interested in reveling their donors either and many are probably hoping that the bill is voted down. Obama is jealous becasue he really thinks he is Hugo Chavez believing that all money should go to him and to him only! That one of the reasons he is Hugo Chavez Obama. This many is really psychotic, paranoid narcissist and I am afraid that Romney really doesn’t truly understand how to take it to him and be consistent and unyielding. Perhaps he doesn’t have the money and he is just waiting for the right time. But he could really take a page from Rush and Mark about how to deal with a Marxist! I hope they can gain some democrats and keep all of the republicans in check!

    • kong1967

I wish someone would be more vocal about these tactics, too. They could make a list of hundreds of bills that do just the opposite of what the title of the bill insinuates it does….including the stimulus bill (which only had 7% stimulus and 93% liberal special interest group payoffs).

The Democrat party only survives from deceiving the masses. It’s unfortunate that the masses are too damn stupid to see it.

“1984” Newspeak. How about “The Fairness Doctrine”? Anything but “fair”.

Isn’t it something how the left is going after the Tea Party groups to check their donations, but nothing about O’s illegal foreign contributions?

  • So why don’t the Republicans just filibuster it?

Are they so impotent that they can’t even do that?

If it already reached 60 earlier, why didn’t they do it then?

  • sjmom

I will pray because I know prayer changes things. My senators are Lautenberg and Menendez, both liberals, so it won’t do me any good to call or email. One time I called Lautenberg’s office and they gave me a hard time because I asked him to vote my way.

  • Has it already passed the house? If not, it’s dead in the water.

  • Has it passed the house yet? If not it’s dead in the water!

  • kong1967

Why would any Republican vote for this intimidation bill anyway? Well, McCain is a dumbass, so there it is.

  • PVG

Hmm, how do you think the bobsy twins, DiFi and Babs from CA will be voting? Do ya think my phone call would about to a hill of beans……..TERM LIMITS FOLKS!!!!

  • mike3e4r7

I thought McConnell made a good point about the double standard that
existed until the Citizens United decision. For years media corporations
like the NY Times enjoyed the unfettered freedom to engage in political
speech that was denied to other corporations.

It kind of makes the left’s pet argument agains Citizens United -that corporations aren’t people – ring hollow.

That whole argument about corporations not being people is a total straw man argument anyway. The first amendment prohibits congress from “…. abridging the freedom of speech or of the press”, a very clear and broad prohibition. To read into those words some exemption from these protections for corporations, is to fabricate law out of thin air.

    • KenInMontana

Don’t forget the left’s favorite corporation, the NAACP.

      • mike3e4r7

        Good point. Also, the unions.

  • KenInMontana

The DISCLOSE Act, the Act that refuses to stay dead, put a stake through it already!!!!!!!

  • Sober_Thinking

What an unbelievable outrage. The imperial Government is asking Congress for permission to shut up their critics? Chuck Schumer… wow… I have so much anger and hatred against him… it’s ridiculous.

The fact that something this fascist is even proposed in Congress shows how evil and twisted this sickening imperial regime has become. How can they even entertain this nonsense?

This is how dictators are born.

  • stage9

You know, Stalin himself was paranoid. Always looking over his shoulder wondering if someone was going to knock him off and take his power from him. Atheistic thinking has a tendency to make a madman out of you. You can see the same paranoia beginning to show itself in this administration too. They’re always afraid someone is out to get them; someone is going to take their “throne”. “Absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

Rest assure anything that this Senate or the President push through is designed to help collapse America.
