UPDATE: ROLL CALL VOTE ADDED – Senate kills Cornyn border security amendment

The much anticipated Cornyn border security amendment was defeated a few minutes ago:

This was predictable. While we don’t know everyone who voted for or against, Byron York does give us the votes of the GOP Gang-of-8:

Let’s see how they voted:

So McCain, Graham, and Flake all voted to kill the amendment. Ugh.

Rubio voted for the border security amendment, as he suggested he would last night. At this point I’m quite sure he won’t vote for cloture on this Senate bill. If he does, he’s toast.

I will post a full accounting of the votes for this amendment as soon as it becomes available.

UPDATE: Looks like Rand Paul also voted with McCain, Graham, and Flake. Below is the full roll call vote:

He’ll voted for the Corker-Hoever Figleaf amendment and then says that is acceptable. Watch.
Only way Rubio redeems himself if his vote is the vote that kills the Senate Bill.

    • lawngreen

jcrichichi  That won’t be redemption. That will be parole with suspended sentence.

  • stage9

I am just simply SHOCKED! (rolls eyes)

  • Laurel A

Do people need any more evidence what so ever that they aren’t serious about securing the border?!

    • stage9

Laurel A All I know is that the two Dumbocrats, Graham and McCain, who voted against the amendment, need to be ousted from office.

      • Laurel A

stage9 Laurel A Ousted? You are too nice. I’m thinkin’ tar and feathers.

        • stage9

Laurel A stage9 Do they still do that? Have at it my friend.

  • OhPlease

Rubio did not “break” with the Gang of 8.  He has voted against every single amendment that held up amnesty.  I watched the vote.  He waited until dead last to vote after it was quite apparent the amendment would fail.

    • welltempered2

OhPlease Rubio is learning well. At the knee of the masters Schumer and McCain.

    • OhPlease Actually Vitter voted ‘dead last’. Rubio was right before that.

    • Nosmo

      OhPlease
Yes, it’s a trick to fool his ‘low information’ voters…Smoke and Mirrors…

    • applepie101

OhPlease Mark Levin noted that some house republicans did this during the vote on the 2011 debt ceiling hike, flipped their votes to ‘No’ at the last minute, once it was clear that the hike would pass. We’ve been conned for a long time.

      • Orangeone

applepie101 OhPlease Time for secret ballot where no one can see how others are voting, all results published with names afterwards.

Rubio: Legalization Will Come Before Border Security
      Jun 10, 2013
We’ve been told for months by Democrats and Republicans that before amnesty is granted to more than 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States, the border will be secured. But over the weekend, Republican Senator Marco Rubio, who is part of the Gang of 8, told Univision legalization will be coming before border security.
Rubio, responding to the concern that legalization might be delayed and therefore be subjected to the policies of future administrations: Let’s be clear. Nobody is talking about preventing the legalization. The legalization is going to happen. That means the following will happen: First comes the legalization. Then come the measures to secure the border. And then comes the process of permanent residence.

  • phil123

without the Cornyn amendment will Rubio still support the legislation ???

    • Conservator1

      phil123 I doubt it….

  • jdbaird

At this point I’m sorry I gave Jeff Flake $35 dollars during his campaign, what a letdown.

    • stage9

jdbaird You really should’ve invested it in something more lucrative…like swamp land. 😉
      Lesson learned my friend.

      • jdbaird

Oh yeah, definitely. The sad part is, I looked into his voting record as a congressman and read up on him but I obviously over looked some serious character flaws.

        • Orangeone

jdbaird Did he lay low enough to hide his true liberal leanings?

    • lawngreen

jdbaird  Send him a bill. Seriously, if you can afford a lawyer, you might start a trend. You’d sure get public attention, and since chaos is coming anyway, why not stir the pot? “Become the whirlwind.”

      • stage9

        lawngreen jdbaird
lawngreen, that comment was so “sensei” of you.
        “Become the whirlwind”.

        • lawngreen

stage9 lawngreen jdbaird  LOL! That actually came from a sci-fi novel. I wish I could remember the title or author’s name. It was suggested to a rag-tag group of soldiers who were fighting a hopeless futuristic war after their civilization collapsed and their planet or galaxy fell into chaos, just a bunch of warlords struggling for dominance. I think the unit was called “Coherent Light”.
If I recall correctly, the idea was, there’s nothing left to fight for, but there is something to fight against, and they had to give up any idea of surviving to do that; and had to make chaos their friend. I have a frightening feeling that conservatives, and decent people around the world, need to remember that.
Fortunately, for those who believe in King Jesus, there is another life beyond this one. “And the government shall be upon HIS shoulder…” That’s all that keeps me from despair.

      • jdbaird

        I wish I could, that’d be awesome.

    • Orangeone

jdbaird Send him a letter demanding a refund.  It won’t work but it would be fun to do!

  • Conservator1

I predicted yesterday that Rubio would find a way not to support his won legislation.
“Rubio lost my support with his political decision to work on immigration reform which he presumed would be his ticket to the 2016 GOP presidential nomination where he would garner great support from Latinos.
It’s has backfired. Rubio knows it and will try to find a way to NOT to support the amnesty plan he and his merry band (Gang of Eight) plan to introduce in the  Senate…”
    http://therightscoop.com/allen-west-reluctant-but-open-to-primary-challenge-against-rubio/#lf_comment=80623923
And Rubio’s vote on the Cornyn border security amendment proves it. He hurled his Tea Party supporters under the bus for his own presidential aspirations and is just another Chris Christie RINO.

  • Full roll call vote is posted. Rand Paul also voted to kill amendment.

  • njmom

The GOP has lost its way and soon will be defiunct due to their own bad decisions.

    • stage9

njmom IT’S TIME FOR A NEW CONSERVATIVE PARTY!

CFP4US.org. Check it out. I’m going to join.

        • stage9

GWShrub How’s that coming with you and Duckie? I’m still on board.

  • stage9

OK, I am OFFICIALLY befuddled by Rand Paul. That guy is completely unpredictable.

    • metalchick007

stage9 I am def confused by the killing the “security” of the border???  WTH??

      • stage9

metalchick007 stage9 That entire family confuses the heck out of me. It’s like they are going along….going along…going along….making sense, and then suddenly, they run out of track and down in the ravine they go…

        • metalchick007

          stage9 metalchick007 it’s truly maddening!

        • Orangeone

stage9 metalchick007 Perhaps decades of marijuana use???? I’m speculating but it would explain it and also their desire to legalize it.

        • stage9

Orangeone stage9 metalchick007 LOL! Yeah, really! How’s that working out Colorado? idiots.

        • Orangeone

stage9 Orangeone metalchick007 Well the recall is going well!  Check out VT, huge drug raid of serious drugs. Well that’s what happens when you start with marijuana, it is addictive and you need to up the drugs to meet the need.

        • Jim25

          Orangeone stage9 metalchick007
Tom Tancredo wants to legalize marijuana. Bill O’Reilly and McCain do not.

        • Jim25

          metalchick007 stage9
I don’t get it. He voted against the last border security amendment, and Murkowski voted for it.

        • Jim25

          Orangeone stage9 metalchick007
What are they recalling in Colorado?
Do they have any more deserving effort to get behind than wasting their time on a petty recall against the state’s marijuana laws?
How about recalling their SENATOR, MICHAEL BENNETT, one of the members of the Gang of 8 amnesty?

    • Booker

      stage9

      • metalchick007

Booker stage9 I’m having a hard time thinking Libertarians want no security at the border?  Is this the case?

    • Orangeone

stage9 Rand Paul has been calling illegal aliens “undocumented citizens” in the press.  He also said he will vote for the GangBanger bill.  he is open borders and has also violated his oath of office.

  • tinlizzieowner

The Senate has no more intention to ‘secure the border’ now than the did in the Reagan era. Follow the money.

  • metalchick007

poljunke I have a feeling they want NO border AT ALL!

    • stage9

metalchick007 poljunke Yeah, I would think at this point we would ALL be past that expectation.

    • Orangeone

metalchick007 poljunke Some LiberalLites on this site have said they want Mexico and Cuba to become states!

      • stage9

Orangeone metalchick007 poljunke A state of what? chaos? We’ve already got that box checked, we don’t need any more.

      • Orangeone

stage9 Orangeone metalchick007 poljunke I agree!  I’ve been clear that I want out Veterans on the border authorized to shoot to kill if necessary.  Best deterrent ever.

      • Jim25

        Orangeone metalchick007 poljunke
Who? Where? That’s crazy, we’re broke enough.

      • stage9

Orangeone stage9 metalchick007 poljunke Better our border than Pakistan’s or Iran’s. Bring our soldiers home.

      • Orangeone

stage9 Orangeone metalchick007 poljunke Today is too late already!

    • bahamianhoosier

metalchick007 poljunke I want to send all these idiots to Mexico and tell them to enjoy their open borders. Point them to the govt office and try and get welfare food stamps job tax-free etc and get back with me….in 10-20!!

  • K-Bob

I’m betting the only stern border enforcement amendment that would pass would be one where they require all ICE and USBP agents to remain at least five hundred miles away from the border.  Also jailing all contractors engaged in fence or barrier building.  Followed by defunding all ICE agencies.
    Resolve.

    • stage9

      K-Bob LOL! no kidding!

    • Orangeone

K-Bob Didn’t you hear, Rubio says we need amnesty in order to fund the border security. Yes, he really said that!  He’s also said America needs Mexican workers because Americans just can cut it (working)

      • K-Bob

Orangeone K-Bob Oh yeah, I saw that.  I could not believe he was so misguided.  I can only look with wonder at the brazenness of his attempt to help this cramdown.

  • Rshill7

Dear Mr. McCain and Mr. Graham:
You guys left one of your marble. Just when I thought you’d lost them all too. I find it lying “right” where you “left” it.
So, I picked it up, and it looked so much like the eye of the tiger I popped into the nearest CD player.
Did I hear Survivor singing that iconic Rocky tune?
    Heck nooooooo!
It was the audio version of “Stupidity For Dummies”.
You sneaky rascals. Come and get it.

    • Conservative_Hippie

      Rshill7 Well articulated!

    • bahamianhoosier

poljunke Rshill7 What you don’t like those same sex partners Jay-Lenz?! Send them off in handcuffs to Mexico like that old Sidney Poitier movie!!

      • Orangeone

bahamianhoosier poljunke Rshill7 I want Eisenhower back!

      • Keyes

        Orangeone bahamianhoosier poljunke Rshill7
        Operation Wetback II anyone?

  • applepie101

Consistent rinos like Murkowski , Collins,  McConnell voted on the ‘Nay’ side this time. They shuffle around like political mercenaries. The last two are up for election next year. These are the ones Schumer must have been referring to as ‘Our republicans’.

    • Conservative_Hippie

      applepie101 Well said!

    • Orangeone

applepie101 McConnell is up for re-election, must show he cares about Americans.  Now pass the barf bag

  • lawngreen

The immigramnesty bill is probably more important even than obama getting “re-elected”. The Doomsday Bill.

  • Laurel A

So isn’t it nice to know that politicians care much more about the health and well being of the citizens of Mexico than they do YOU?!!!!!!!

    • Keyes

      Laurel A
      Ain’t that the truth!

    • Orangeone

Laurel A If anyone actually told taxpayers how much they’ve paid for the 1986 amnesty, it might just wake some people up. These young people, PaulBots, RuBots and ObamaBots have no clue because it happened while they were in diapers or not yet born.

      • Laurel A

Orangeone Laurel A Yep! But they don’t equate real dollars and cents with sense. They have no clue that the standard of living they were raised with is going down until it’s too late. They will accept the scraps off of the proletariat table and not know any different because the school system dumbed them down…BY DESIGN. The culture dumbed them down…BY DESIGN.
If they want to live like that then so be it.

        • Orangeone

Laurel A Orangeone I’m okay if they want to remain stupid, but we need to repeal the Constitutional Amendment that lowered the voting age.  Clearly they cannot pass the most basic of intelligence tests and their votes are destroying my freedom and liberty.

        • Laurel A

Orangeone Laurel A Ironically my soon to be 23 year old conservative daughter agrees with you. She says she and the handful like her are the exception that proves the rule and not the rule itself. She finds many in her peer group lacking.

        • Jim25

          Orangeone Laurel A
I have a hunch, I don’t think they’ll vote for Hillary by and large if the GOP doesn’t pick an old guard candidate.
Hillary probably reminds them of a nagging grandmother. She’s been around since the 90s, and though they should be against her and Obama for being murderers she can’t pull off being “hip” any more than gramps McCain.

        • Laurel A

Jim25 Orangeone Laurel A I think they will. they like to think they are different but they aren’t….plus the Dems have no one else.

      • Jim25

        Orangeone Laurel A
Your typical RuBot is an upper-class GOP establishment type who religiously tunes into what the Wall Street Journal and Karl Rove says and thinks he’s the smartest man in politics. Having a harder time with young people than any other faction, they’re typically around 50 or 60.

  • Laurel A

Take special note of RAND PAUL’S VOTE PEOPLE.

    • colliemum

      Laurel A
Yes – exactly! I do wonder if he comes out with an explanation, and what it will be … something weaselly, I bet.

      • Laurel A

colliemum Laurel A Of that I have no doubt. Libertarian is in actuality LIBERALtarian.

        • Orangeone

          Laurel A colliemum Or a Liberal-Totalitarian

        • Jim25

          Laurel A colliemum
Alex Jones has been against amnesty for a long time.

        • Laurel A

Jim25 Laurel A colliemum Alex Jones is a blind squirrel that some how manages to see a conspiracy in a box of corn flakes. I bet he is happy though because all of his worst fears are coming to reality and he can finally say “See I told you so!” despite the fact it is one president not the hundreds of theories he has put forth.

    • Orangeone

Laurel A He did exactly what he said that these are undocumented citizens.  PaulBots are open borders idiots at least until the next terrorist and/or illegal murders or rapes a member of their family.

  • sDee

What a pathetic dog and pony show. Boot the lot of them. Repeal the 17th Amendment.

    • jdbaird

That’s a great point, because judging by Arizona’s state legislature stance on illegal immigration, they’d be ousting McCain and Flake as soon as possible.

  • Orangeone

They were giving Rubio cover just like they did for McCain and Grahamnesty. Predictable.

    • Proudhispanicconservative

No need for me to add anything you nailed it.

  • wallwatchman

I’ve started calling my congressman in DC again, telling them how steamed I am over this whole amnesty fiasco!!
I’m tired of the games, the lies, the cover votes, putting out new legislation when we have policies already, etc etc etc!!! You people represent us, US, not illegals from other countries! This admin and this congress are wrecking this country!! Repeal obamacare, pass keystone, get rid of the IRS, THIS is what you should be working on!!!
If we all flood the phone lines again, like last time, can we shut this down?! Please try everyone!! We’ve got to do something!!

  • Jim25

I want consistency. If they support amnesty like Collins, Murkowski, or in this case Rubio, they shouldn’t vote to cover themselves. They should be on the record, and face the consequences.

  • Jim25

I think Rand is going to have to explain this, but his other positions and ambiguity on the final bill and some differences will get more goodwill from conservatives than Rubio.
I guess kind of like how perception of how Newt was for a healthcare mandate just like Romney, but he successfully spun himself as the anti-Romney because his temperament is different.

    • Jim25

And the enemies he’s made being the same as Rubio’s friends.

    • Orangeone

Jim25 Randy shot himself in the foot when he referred to illegal aliens as “undocumented citizens”.  He’s done too.

  • RocklinConservative

As chuck schumer said in committee – do we need all the republicans? Rubio is losing his conservative credentials over this bill. They didn’t need his vote. Did he do this on principle or because he is trying to save his position with those that are still holding out hope for him?

    • RightStuff1

      RocklinConservative
I’m sorry, but you say Rubio is losing his conservative credential over this. No, no, I must take issue here. Rubio is not losing his conservative credentials over this…..he has LOST his conservative credentials and hence base over this. His future is gone. I want this fraud out. I’m sick, so freaking sick of being lied to by my own side. I can take it when the Dems do it because they are pure scum but when my own side do it then enough!!!!!
Anyone and I mean anyone that who votes for this pile of crap amnesty bill is an enemy of the American people.

      • PVG

RightStuff1 RocklinConservative Well stated my friend! I called all these guys this morning and gave them an earful. Flake’s phone dude argued with me a little. I told him SECURE THE BORDER PERIOD!!

  • cabensg

Rubio makes Romney look like a conservative. With more and more horrors coming to light it’s almost shocking that Democrats would vote for this but they did vote for Obamacare the other fiasco.

When will they post the votes for the Hoeven-Corker amendment?

  • clubgitmo

The list of losers including the new phony Rand Paul. This country is doomed with these losers.
