Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Lindsey Graham, and Dean Heller, who attended today’s opening ceremony of the US embassy in Jerusalem, all weighed in on Fox News shortly after the ceremony on why this move is so important and what it says about peace with the Palestinians.
Watch:
Cruz is exactly right. Jerusalem was the capital of Israel 70 years ago but also 3,000 years ago, and all we are doing today by moving our embassy there is acknowledging what is an undeniable truth.
I also liked what Graham had to say, on a more practical level, that nobody has better intelligence on radical Islam and this is the least we could do to show we support Israel.
As a side note, reports suggest that no Democrats showed up to the ceremony in Jerusalem. Not even Chuck Schumer, who is praising the president for this move, could be bothered to show up:
This is rare --> @SenSchumer congratulates President Trump: "In a long overdue move, we have moved our embassy to Jerusalem. Every nation should have the right to choose its capital. I sponsored legislation to do this two decades ago, and I applaud President Trump for doing it.”
