Shep Smith BURNS “The Plane Network” In Awesome Internal Memo About Gawker Gay Story

“Things you might read today are horseshit. As phony as 24-hour breaking news on The Plane Channel.”

That epic burn is from a memo obtained exclusively by The Daily Banter this week, in which Shepard Smith strongly denies a Gawker story claiming he was ordered to stay “in the closet” by Fox bigwigs.

The best part of the burn is it has nothing to do with the story. It’s just an awesome, off-hand gut punch at the beleaguered plane network. And frankly, it’s a well deserved and earned smack.

The Gawker story alleged that Shep “approached Fox News president Roger Ailes about publicly coming out, but that Ailes told him that he “definitely could not say he’s gay.”

Gawker reports a “Fox insider” as saying that “Shep wanted to and was ready to come out, and Roger just said no.” As the Daily Banter points out, the Gawker reporter has been chasing the “outing” of Shepard Smith for months, calling it his “white whale.”

But according to the new story, the entire line about Shep being forced to keep mum about his private life is complete “horseshit.” Shep’s full email to his team, from the Daily Banter:

Newsteam- Good morning from Los Angeles.

I came to fox news 18 years ago because they agreed to hire me. I’ve stayed with fox news because of my relationship with Roger Ailes. He’s my boss, my friend and my steadfast supporter both professionally and personally.

Things you might read today are horseshit. As phony as 24-hour breaking news on The Plane Channel.
Stand down.

Big love. See yall Monday… Unless breaking news changes everything.

Shep

Will CNN cover this story? Only if Shep somehow gets kidnapped by a black hole full of zombies and ghosts who eat airplanes. So we’ll see.
