So apparently Syria has just gotten more complicated

According to Drudge this morning, before I was even completely awake, was sending out alerts to iPhones everywhere that David Cameron has backed out of the attack on Syria due to a revolt in his own country:

David Cameron backed down and agreed to delay a military attack on Syria following a growing revolt over the UK’s rushed response to the crisis on Wednesday night.

Probably a wise move by Cameron because the AP is reporting that US officials are now saying the evidence that Assad used chemical weapons are not a ‘slam dunk‘:

The intelligence linking Syrian President Bashar Assad or his inner circle to an alleged chemical weapons attack that killed at least 100 people is no “slam dunk,” with questions remaining about who actually controls some of Syria’s chemical weapons stores and doubts about whether Assad himself ordered the strike, U.S. intelligence officials say.

However, multiple U.S. officials used the phrase “not a slam dunk” to describe the intelligence picture – a reference to then-CIA Director George Tenet’s insistence in 2002 that U.S. intelligence showing Iraq had weapons of mass destruction was a “slam dunk” – intelligence that turned out to be wrong.

A report by the Office of the Director for National Intelligence outlining that evidence against Syria is thick with caveats. It builds a case that Assad’s forces are most likely responsible while outlining gaps in the U.S. intelligence picture. Relevant congressional committees were to be briefed on that evidence by teleconference call on Thursday, U.S. officials and congressional aides said.

I’m glad to see this report because Walid Shoebat reported two days ago that it’s the rebels using Chemical weapons, not Assad, and has videos showing rebels loading chemical weapons onto rockets and even discussing the use of Saran gas.

Meanwhile, Russia is moving forces into the Mediterranean, a clear sign that they are racist:

Russia is sending an anti-submarine ship and a missile cruiser to the Mediterranean, according to Russian news agency Interfax.

An armed forces source reportedly said the planned deployment was in response to the “well-known situation” – a clear reference to the conflict in Syria.

The navy has denied the deployment is linked to events in Syria, saying it is part of a planned rotation of its ships in the Mediterranean.

Russia is strongly against any military intervention in Syria, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov believing it would seriously destabilise the region.

So there’s a quick of today’s events in Syria. It’s one big festering mess that is sure to leave anyone that touches it with stink on their hands.

Just another complete failure by the handling of this entire episode by this failed administration. They have zero idea what the hell they are doing. By their stupidity they just might be doing the correct thing by NOT getting involved in Syria.

Imagine that!  Pragmatic conservatism bites the putative Conservative leader of Great Britain in the butt.  Maybe shahada reciting John Brennan can crank open that secret box of irrefutable evidence that Assad was responsible for the chemical attacks… you know… the evidence that Secretariat John Kerry was so sure existed.

This military adventure in the Middle East will turn out to be the worse event in the history of our country.  The biggest reason for this upcoming debacle is based upon the fact that it is a man who usurped the office of the POTUS.  He is the worse possible person to be sitting next to the Nuclear football.  He has been hell bent on destroying America, Congress knows he is a usurper and refuses to investigate him.  We are not going to survive this if we as a people allow him to finish his second term.  Too much damage will have been done over the next three years added to the damage already done.  God help us as we sit back and watch ourselves self destruct.

I think collimum mentioned the Cameron thing the other day, that the country was in opposition to intervention.
And as far as the second part that Assad may not have been behind the chemical attack, IMO that was suspect from the beginning. Walid Shoebat has debated this claim as well. ( http://shoebat.com/2013/08/27/evidence-syrian-rebels-used-chemical-weapons-not-assad/ )
    I doubted it because:
    1) Obama was so eager to support the Muslim Brotherhood-led opposition, ( http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2013/03/13/how_the_muslim_brotherhood_hijacked_syria_s_revolution )
    2) No one has given conclusive evidence that Assad had done it. The only thing I’ve read is that there was communication intercepts that suggested that someone within the Syrian government had done it,
( http://finance.yahoo.com/news/unnamed-us-israeli-officials-intercepted-123449059.html ) though it is unclear who? or if Assad even ordered it.
    This is all wishy washy.
I was listening to AFR Talk yesterday and the dude on there had an “expert” on who continues to insist that it was Assad who launched the attack. Until more concrete evidence is made available, IMO we need to stay out of it and stay home.

The Blaze, Shoebat, Pamela Geller, Front Page… but I think the most brilliant commentator is Daniel Greenfield (Sultan Knish) who writes also for Front Page.  Every article he writes contains gems and wisdom and incisiveness I’ve seen nowhere else.  Greenfield is simply outstanding, and when he is interviewd by SUN News here in Canada… his argumentation is flawless.

    http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/matthewholehouse/100233137/syria-uk-legal-position-in-full/
You can see from the comments that we the people are not convinced – and quite a few MPs also said they were not convinced.
The debate is still going on (it started at 2.30 pm BST), the contributions were infuriating, sometimes totally war-mongering, and as far as I can make out, the vote may go according to Gov versus Opposition. A vote will be taken around 22 pm BST.
My eyes are square from watching, and my opinion of who are good conservative MPs and who are not has not been shaken.
Once the UN report is in, the expectation is that Cameron will again demand a decision by the UNSC, and then he (and BHO) will probably go ahead, using the ‘right for intervention because of humanitarian reasons’ – evidence be hanged, because Assad must be punished. Limits, goals, what comes after: no idea, doesn’t matter, as long as Assad is punished.
    Bad times are coming.

  • kong1967

jrash  I agree with that completely.  I don’t necessarily believe that Obama planned the chemical attack, but he rebels did in an effort to get Obama engaged in the fight against Assad.  But I do believe Obama wanted to do the strike before evidence came out that it was the rebels that used the chemicals.

  • colliemum

tinlizzieowner StevenDawson Oh, it does indeed, and just this argument has been brought by quite a few MPs.
However, lobbing a few missiles in order to be seen to do something, regardless of proper military goals, of identifying what happens afterwards, is simply not good enough.
Cameron brought some nice weasel words, like ‘we need to degrade Assad’s chemical weapons’ – with no idea how to achieve this, without boots on the ground.
Many have made the point that we need diplomacy. Fingers were pointed at Russia and China for blocking the UNSC, not allowing a military intervention. However, the rebels (paid for by SA and Qatar) have refused to even sit at a table as long as Assad didn’t go, and Russia had no influence.
Personally, i think our dear leaders ought to work hard to get Putin on board to negotiate a solution to this civil war. I also think that it is time to put SA on the carpet, who have armed the jihadis, the terrorists who slaughter not only Christians but also those not of their flavour of islam.
There are ways out of this – but military action just because we need to be seen to be doing something most certainly is not the right way.

  • kong1967

Iran said they will attack Israel if we attack Assad’s regime.  Obama is literally flirting with WWIII here.  Why?  Because he insists on supporting Al Qaeda, our enemy, in a fight against another one of our enemies.

Especially when you’re dealing with a situational hypocrite like Obama, who was dead set against this kind of action (when Bush was President), before he was for it.

    Right. The House has voted.
First it rejected the amendment by the Labour opposition, with 220 votes for aye, and 332 for no. No surprise there. But then! The government Motion was defeated, with 272 ayes to 285 noes! The opposition Labour leader asks immediately for reassurance that the PM will not use the Royal Prerogative to instigate military action unilaterally. Cameron says he ‘gets it’ that the House and the British people do not want military action … and assures the House that he will not use the Royal Prerogative. (Look up on wiki what the Royal Prerogative means).
Sooo – if BHO wants to lob a few missiles into Syria he is now on his own.
I am totally wrecked now and shall go to bed, being grateful I’m not a MP!

colliemum The Royal Prerogative sounds like it might be similar to Obamao’s executive orders except that the Royal Prerogative is legal.

DHardy  They don’t have to “take” Israel in order to start a world war.  Part of the defense in the past has been U.S. backing of Israel.  If Israel was attacked, everyone knew the U.S. would come to her side in battle.  With Obama in office, can we be so sure of that now?  I’m not confident at all, because all of his actions have been against Israel and he has only given lip service to the word “ally”.  Obama supports radical Islamic groups like the Muslim Brotherhood and now Al Qaeda.  Do you see him going to Israel’s aid?  Iran and others know Obama is weak and that Israel is not a friend to Obama.  Good time for them to strike, I’d say.

Here’s a really good rundown on the Middle East since Obama’s reign… by Ezra Levant.  Most of his monologues are 10-12 minutes.  This is thirty and it’s excellent.  I try not to burden people with 30min clips unless it is really good… and this is really good… and you get a feel for Levant’s style.  Tell me what you think.

    Ezra Levant explains
how the current chaos in the Middle-East is directly linked to Barack
Obama’s foreign policy speech in Cairo which marked a major shift in US
    foreign policy.

OFRAUD alone…comes to mind Gene Kelley’s SInging In the Rain but in this loser’s case I AM SINKING IN MY ARROGANCE….as the poor CLUELESS CLOWN in the WH has NO FRIENDS…..AWE!!!!  Poor Little Clown….the ABJECT LAUGHTER OF THE WORLD is again showing HOW UTTERLY USELESS AND PHONY he is.  No one fears a PANSY and no fears a massive manipulator and someone that is not to be trusted under any circumstance.  He stands for nothing…HE LOVED the MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD who MUCH TO MY DELIGHT is getting their BUTTS kicked by the Egyptian Military…SEE OFRAUD when real MEN act decisively RESULTS HAPPEN…not like you who in your heart are nothing of an American Lover….you are a Socialist and Muslim Brotherhood sympathizer and THEY ARE LOSING OFRAUD….and the Egyptian Military could give ONE READ CENT about you and they know you SUPPORTED MORSI…so in Syria it should come as no Surprise that EGG is on his face.
Remember Lurch telling us “NO QUESTION ASSAD used Chemical Weapons” that buffoon of a clown.  And now it looks like REBELS (MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD and others) may have used themselves to gain SYMPATHY…SOOO SURPRISING!!!  And who is once again the EMBARRASSMENT OF THE WORLD…well well the FALSE PROPHET OF THE LEFT!!!  You hear the LAUGHTER OFRAUD????

tinlizzieowner  Probably so.  Depending on how you look at it, it could go the other way as well,  He might attack but not because they gassed the women and children.  Of course, that would be the excuse but Obama would be saying “YES, a gift from heaven to FINALLY take these pieces of sh** out!!”
Have I ever told you that I hate Obama?  Lol, now you know.

  • Larchmonter

Obama should not be allowed off the golf course.
Only place he can’t do damage, except to the balls and the greens.
We need to start negotiating with him so that he builds his Presidential Library of Disasters outside the United States.
I suggest it be next door to the Muslim Brotherhood HQ. Or, it could be at Gitmo. He plans on emptying it, so the place will be available. And it would be convenient for all the Cult members when they head to Cuba to kiss the Socialist’s Paradise next door.

  • Stratplaya

Obama just needs to man up and admit that Syria called him on his bluff.
I won’t think any less of Obama and I’m sure most Americans would feel
    the same.

kong1967 tinlizzieowner I’m beginning to think this is oCommie’s way of provoking the islamist states into attacking Israel to get ‘back’ at the U.S.
Pretty savvy from his viewpoint. He gets what he wants, a ME without Israel but no way to track it back to him.
He is just doing it ‘for the children.’

  • No_BlahBlah

  • 99 years ago this month, the guns of August roared.  The European countries by virtue of tangling alliance staggered into war.  As they marched off, the German men told their wives that they would be back in a few weeks or by Christmas for sure.  The English reluctantly came in with the French. And the French soldiers biggest issue was their fight to retain the right to wear their traditional red trousers into battle rather than to adopt the new olive drab standard.  How little we have learned in those past 99 years.  Fortunately, we have the smartest man in the world at the helm and we can be certain that this will not spiral out of control.

“[American troops in Vietnam] personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, [blew] up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to…the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country. … There are all kinds of atrocities and I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed….” –John Kerry in his 1971 testimony before Congress
