Sen. Ted Cruz took his time today in the gun violence hearing to explain the fallacy of proposed Senate legislation going after so-called ‘assault weapons’ and ‘gun show loophole’, using charts and statistics and props. He even told the Senate that many times it seems their policy is based on emotion and that decisions are made in a ‘fact-free-zone’.

  • CaseyGeorge

    God he is awesome…

Rand Paul / Ted Cruz 2016

    • LadyMacKeltar

It is good to have him in the Senate at this most troubled time.

    • Orangeone

Rand Paul voted to confirm John Kerry and is pro-illegal alien. He’s out.

      • marketcomp

Thank You, Orangeone for pointing that out!

      • CaseyGeorge

Orangeone, your life mission is to convince people Rand Paul is pro-illegals…isn’t it? It’s like every thread…please tell us who you prefer (My money is on Palin, with a small bet on Santorum as well)

        • marketcomp

Well let’s see has Rand Paul made a statement on the illegal topic? No.Why, because perhaps he agrees with the outline by the gaing of 8 which does not include border security. If you are silent then thats as good as compliance or agreement.

        • BeyondPolls

Orangeone has a problem with paths to citizenship, it’s sad to say.

          • Orangeone

I have a problem with illegal aliens, anchor babies and those that aide and abet. I believe in our laws and our Constitution and look forward to the day those that don’t are tossed out. If you love the illegals so much why don’t you go and speak with the families that have had their spouses raped, loved ones murdered, children murdered by them. Take a video so we can watch the interviews.

            • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1396855720 Brian Jones

Video or it didn’t happen! LOL! Well said Orangeone!!!

            • BeyondPolls

I don’t like illegals that much, I just think our naturalization process has been corrupted since Clinton and needs to be reformed.

            • badbadlibs

              Hear, hear!!

          • MiketheMarine

Hey, schmuck, there ARE ALREADY paths to citizenship that exist and law abiding people, the kind we WANT in our country our utilizing those paths. Just because a mexican can cross a desert without getting caught or dying is no reason to give them anything at all but a bus ride home to the crap hole they call home. Wake up. We are out of money and half of America refuses to work already. Hell, I bet you get a federal check of some sort. And you want us to suck up the cost of 11 million criminals too? Screw you, you pay for them. I’m not donating a plug nickel to any illegals.

In fact, I’m all for starting an illegal immigrant hunting season with a 5 illegal immigrant bag limit per year.

            • BeyondPolls

Have you ever heard of the green card lottery?
Joking about murdering people is NOT the right thing to talk about. No wonder the Republican party is dying.

              • MiketheMarine

                Who’s joking?

                • BeyondPolls

Okay, boasting about bounty hunting is NOT helpful to the conservative cause at all.

                • MiketheMarine

It is no less distasteful than stealing money from AMERICAN CITIZENS and giviing it away to law breaking invaders. That is what YOUR president is doing. He is completely out of control and nobody is holding him accountable. The shiite he is doing, he is doing with MY fukcing money and it is illegal. We are being invaded and the federal government is in collusion with the invaders you moron.

I’m dead serious about illegal alien hunting season. Why don’t you look up what Mexico does to illegals that cross their southern border and then come talk to me you dumby. Check it out and you will be blown away. They kill illegal immigrant out of hand when they capture them yet we give them money and housing and jobs? Your an idiot.

                • BeyondPolls

Let’s change gears because we’re not getting anywhere with all your fantasies of murder.
Do you think our current path to citizenship is adequate?

                • MiketheMarine

If it were administered properly, then yes but the federal government would screw up a wet dream. Plus, Maobama REFUSES to secure the border. That is step one and you do not reward criminals, period. You end up screwing American Citizens and immigrants who are attempting to do it the right way.

Lock down the border is number, 2) There is no law that says being born here makes you a citizen. It depends on the citizenship of your parents so all these mexican that run to California or Arizona to have a baby get shipped back to mexico and they stand in line like the law abiding immigrants. 3) Not one of these a-hole illegal immigrants have any desire to assimilate. They even refuse to learn our language. They are criminals by definition and fact and they are NOT the people we want in our country but until you STOP the flow of criminal illegals there is NO discussion on amnesty.

It’s total bull and if you TRULY want some perspective go find a recent immigrant hwo did it the LEGAL way and see what they have to say.

You think my comments crossed a line? You’ll be slobberknocked by what a legal immigrant thinks. They are for Lifetime imprisonment and executions.

                • BeyondPolls

Surely you know how dangerous the border is. There is no way to stop the flow until the fed is allowed to indefinitely detain violent illegals. We can’t ship them back and forth across the border like mad.

                • MiketheMarine

In 1991 me and my Marines destroyed the 4th largest army on the planet in 100 days, dumby. We could secure that entire border in less than a month. And we could pay for it with all the money we safe from giving to illegal fukcing immigrants. You really are stupid. Not an insult just a fact.

                • BeyondPolls

Thank you for your service, but America’s broke dude.

          • http://politicalknow.blogspot.com/ SheerPolitics

A LOT of us have a problem with giving someone, who’s breaking our laws, a path to citizenship. I know people who have been trying to come in the country from Australia for years, but couldn’t. Another couple I know has had to spend $$ to fly back up to Canada to renew their green card. The majority of those coming over here illegally are just here to get some money, send it home and then retire to their home country where the living is cheaper. They don’t care about obeying our laws or learning our language. They’re not worried about being deported, especially if they drop a kid while they’re here. They’re using another’s SS number which is a felony. A large number are people overstaying their visa and we are not tracking them. There’s no doubt a number of them are also voting illegally in our elections.

So, yeah, I’ve got a problem with that.

            • BeyondPolls

If we have such a great path to citizenship, then conservatives need to stop whining and start talking positively about it. For Pete’s sake, liberals are being more positive than conservatives these days!
Quit whining about liberals and start promoting conservatism. Honestly, one would think that conservatives never wanted a new immigrant again.
BTW, this rant isn’t necessarily directed at you, it’s just the culmination of a lot of arguments I’ve had with conservatives on this site lately.

          • http://profile.yahoo.com/JVYD3G2MK3CMD47OKHSD7AIL4I Mark

            So do I.

            • BeyondPolls

Do you think that right now, our path to citizenship is adequate?

        • deTocqueville1

          Palin works just fine!

        • Orangeone

You are free to ignore my posts. I believe in properly vetting candidates for office and that vetting is still continuing. I have previously expressed support for West/Pirro as a winning team, others on this site have made other suggestions which are also good.

          • Kelly60

Pirro…haven’t seen that one yet…like your style O!

            • Orangeone

Thank you Kelly! I love Judge Pirro! She is the example young women should be following, and many do. She has been in law enforcement and the courts nearly her entire career. She is the one out front on domestic abuse issues and protection for women. She is a no-nonsense when it comes to gov’t scandals like Fast and Furious, Benghazi, gun control, publication of the names of permit holders. She reminds me so of our new Senator Tim Scott in the way they both work with youth to guide them towards education, hard work and having goals.

        • MiketheMarine

Bull crap, man she is more up on who votes for what than everyone else here combined except maybe Scoop himself. Rand Paul is a POS. I bet you like Marco Rubio too. He is a RINO who is perfectly ok with giving our country away to his latino brethren without a single condition.

Educate yourself before entering the fray, pinwheel. You may get your back end handed to you if you don’t.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1396855720 Brian Jones

“pinwheel”! ROFLMAO!!! Both Pauls really have turned out to be something else, haven’t they…I knew Rubio wasn’t so great once I saw that documentary about who HIS friends are (the guy he got out of prison, if I remember correctly)

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1396855720 Brian Jones

I’m not a HUGE fan of any of the Paul’s…it seems like every time they seem like something, after doing some research we find out otherwise. Like Ron Paul for instance: We think he’s a fiscal hawk, except that after researching we find out that he typically just doesn’t vote, and when he does he makes sure to add his own pork to the bill…

        • Orangeone

You’ve been doing a great job bringing important facts to these vital discussions Brian and I appreciate that!

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1396855720 Brian Jones

Well, most of the time I just respond to others! So thanks for being here Orangey!!!

          • MiketheMarine

As does Mike and Ken and K-Bob and Lifesabench, etc…………

And Orangeone, YOU do a fabulous job of keeping some of us overly busy to do proper research folks updated. I count on your input. Thank You for the time, effort, and hard times you occassionally encounter from our small band of zombie trolls.

I, for one, Thank God for folks like you and Brian every day.

            • Orangeone

blush curtsey Everyone contributes so much which is why we are all MORE informed than we would be on our own.

    • c4pfan

More like Ted Cruz in front. Who cares who is the VP. Way too much put into that.

      • MiketheMarine

I agree. I don’t like rand paul and wouldn’t vote for him in a primary.

    • sjmom

Not when Rand votes for Kerry.

  • John3_3

Very good presentation. I wish he could have gone on longer. This is exactly what the ignorant citizens of the US need to see, unfortunately those ignorant citizens don’t pay attention to things like Senate hearings.

  • Orangeone

Notice how Mark Kelley went running away when the evidence was presented!

    • LadyMacKeltar

Yup! I just made the same comment to my husband. Others were playing with their phones.

    • marketcomp

Yeah, the “fact-free zone.” Appropriately named!

    • CaseyGeorge

      Why is he even there?

      • http://politicalknow.blogspot.com/ SheerPolitics

Husband of Gabby Giffords. Both spoke on “how they’re gun owners, but we have to do SOMETHING!” Typical liberal emotional response.

    • cabensg

It looked like a potty break run to me but who knows.

    • sjmom

I don’t blame Mark after what happened to his wife. However, the rest of them……….

    • http://politicalknow.blogspot.com/ SheerPolitics

      Oh no…logic…must…run…away!

      • Orangeone

I put the link to Lindsey Graham’s testimony on the open thread (Muslims in England). You might want to watch and look at the disdain on Kelley’s face with Graham talks about the GA mother not having enough rounds

  • The_Questman

From the Left’s perspective, The gun laws they propose has nothing to do with Reality, protecting children or reducing crime. They want to disarm America by starting with “innocent” Americans. The Marxist Agenda that Obama, Pelosi, Schumer, and other leftists have cannot allow Americans to have guns. They know that Americans will revolt once the American public realizes that Obama’s “fundamental change” of America is to transform it into another Pseudo Communist country. Americans are starting to recognize the communist infection that is permeating our government and they will revolt if taken too far.

This Gun Control is 100% an agenda driven policy. Obama waited 4 years for a tragic event to happen to pounce on a chance to disarm the American Public. Things like jobs, the GDP, keeping America safe and its borders secure mean absolutely nothing to Obama. You rarely hear him talk about those things because Those things Do Not fit into his Marxist agenda.

It is far easier to disarm innocent people than criminals. So once rigid rules are laid down and the Govt knows exactly who owns gun and where they live the govt will swoop down some night and relieve citizens of their 2nd Amendment Right to have weapons.

    • MiketheMarine

Your final paragraph is as wrong as it could possibly be. If they come for my guns, and I have always obeyed all laws except speeding and I WILL NOT have my guns confiscated. I think you have misunderstood where LEGAL gun owners stand. They are legal guns and nothing this administration does can change that thanks to the 2nd ammendment. There will be a war before I hand over a single round of ammo to anybody.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/CZSU2D67ODNZOKEZYHXONQ4F5Y John

go for the REAL reasons of shootings:

“The schools are pushing these drugs on children because they will receive more funding. the teachers are making the diagnosis and the doctors are always agreeing because they get kickbacks from the drug companies
Despite 22 international drug regulatory warnings on psychiatric drugs citing effects of mania, hostility, violence and even homicidal ideation, and dozens of high profile school shootings/killings tied to psychiatric drug use, there has yet to be a federal investigation on the link between psychiatric drugs and acts of senseless violence.
Between 2004 and 2011, there have been over 11,000 reports to the U.S. FDA’s MedWatch system of psychiatric drug side effects related to violence. These include 300 cases of homicide, nearly 3,000 cases of mania and over 7,000 cases of aggression. Note: By the FDA’s own admission, only 1-10% of side effects are ever reported to the FDA, so the actual number of side effects occurring are most certainly higher.”

    • badbadlibs

Take God out of schools=the real real reason.

  • Sober_Thinking

It’s all so clear… and Feinstein and the other boobs who go after our guns are basing all their information or facts of emotions or appearances. Morons.

Ted Cruz did a great job… intelligent and precise.

    • factsobill

From the Dimmy view, Ted’s the devil incarnate! That was just the 1st burr in their blanket from Ted.

  • colliemum

He just showed that presenting simple facts makes the dems and leftards squirm, leave the room, stick their fingers in their ears and, when asked to answer, hide behind obfuscation and weasel words.

He showed that this is not about ‘new and better’ laws, but about ‘doing something’ for the sake of doing something.

Above all, he made his points without any party-political bias, unlike the dem senators who surely should’ve been made to hand out sick bags before they started bloviating!

    • nosilasunny

Darkness hates the light of truth.

  • Biggbear52

The Fox news home page shows an article about whether or not more gun laws will solve, or even help the problem. I have said that in order to see a dramatic drop in gun related violent crimes, we have to get super tough on those committing them. Every country/ Nation that has really low crime rates are those that have an enforce the laws already on the book that have been there for decades, if not centuries. Unfortunately they are mostly communist as well. However that is getting away from the point. If we put a person in prison for life without for robing a store of whatever kind, people in general are going to KNOW that HOLY CRUD I BETTER NOT DO ANYTHING LIKE THAT. Or these mass killers that have throughout history have been affiliated with or registered democrats, these people need to face one sentence if they do not martyr themselves by self infliction. Yes it sound harsh but bare in mind this. In our country virtually every city, county and States that allows carrying of weapons, has a single digit crime rate number. Amazingly those crime are of the vagrancy, stealing and super small time crimes. They’re revenues are actually up in all case. The Sheriff and police have a better reputation with the people overall and there is CIVILITY amongst the community. THESE FACTS CANNOT BE REFUTED. Oh by the way. These places also have the LOWEST TAX RATES and are seeking companies to come in and BUILD THEY’RE CITIES!

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/KYTC7EGQASGOTQYPY2KPC4XCZY Don

After Rand Paul and Marco Rubio voted for John Kerry, the biggest traitor to ever be elected, Ted Cruz may be the closest thing to a true conservative we have in the House or the Senate. Since he is a newbie, we should see if this remains a fact after he is indoctrinated by the RINO leadership of what was once the GOP. Somebody has to stand up and he looks as capable as anyone else.

    • MiketheMarine

Shoot, he is more intelligent than everyone else in that room combined.

      • factsobill

At the very least! He’s also unencumbered with the political “baggage” the Rest in that Room wear like an albatross! The thing about Senator Cruz is he has Reagan’s communication skills.

  • c4pfan

    Go Ted Cruz, go!

  • Orangeone
  • Ranger1325

Every American needs to watch this.

  • cabensg

I’m glad to see he’s talking sensibly and truthfully because it will school some people on the facts. What we can be sure of is it will not change the views of liars like Feinstein, Obama and others. They do not care about the truth and I doubt this will have any effect on their stance since their objective is to leave Americans defenseless while deliberately ignoring the constitution. Every new step they take to diminish freedom is built on the last step that we ignored or didn’t come together to fight against.

    • badbadlibs

      Well said.

  • aposematic

    Cruz continues to impress.

  • MiketheMarine

Rubio can rot in hell but Cruz is my kind of guy. Go Cruz, Cruz for President

    • sjmom

I agree if he continues in his current path.

  • deTocqueville1

He is great. He does not compromise his principles and is true to his word. A great constitutional conservative not afraid to speak truth. Quite change in DC for the most part.

  • proudhispanicconservative

There’s wonderful’s senator has come to Washington and has already made his mark. sen. Ted Cruz has this gift that only a few conservatives like Ronald Ragan had, which is he totally and absolutely Obliviate’s the other side’s argument and at the same time he sounds respectful. Sen. Ted Cruz was the only senator or politician from out of state that I ever donated money to. I am so proud of this man, I cannot even put it into words. I don’t know if I was the only one that noticed how Kelly walked out of the room, maybe because he couldn’t handle the truth.

    • TexasPGRRider

Thanks for supporting our new Senator Cruz while he ran for office!! He won my vote and has lived up to our expectations so far, and remains in our prayers. Please keep him and the other like minded rookies we have in Congress in your prayers also. Off topic, have you found help with your “new friend”? Peace be with you….

      • proudhispanicconservative

You should be very proud, I take that back, we should all be very proud of this man. Off topic yes I am getting help with my new best friend….just the other day I took my friend out to the park, and had a wonderful time target practicing….. Lol

        • TexasPGRRider

          STAY SAFE BRO !!!!

          • proudhispanicconservative

You too my brother, thank you again.

    • HarrietHT2

Well, you know, proud . . ., Kelly returned, as is seen later during the questioning. Perhaps he needed a potty break. Giffords was my congressman, and I actively opposed her during her terms; I prayed that God would diffuse her leftist influence, especially during the turbulent run-up to the Obamacare vote. And I spent countless hours in writing, phoning, and out-on-the-street protesting against her committed intent to vote yes on that issue. I even confronted her directly during a town hall meeting during her first term, over another issue.

I pray that our high regard for Ted Cruz is not misplaced. We must be vigilant.

      • proudhispanicconservative

Yes we must pray that washington doesnt change Ted Cruz, so far so good with him. Thank you for doing your small part against these statists.

  • kssturgis62

I watched this whole hearing. There are 9,000 Federal Gun Laws on the Books. The Police Chief from Baltimore was Advocating Gun Control, but Admitted that arrests are down, he had to agree with the NRA on that, admitted his budget was cut, and admitted his response time was longer, agreeing with Fake conservative Lyndsey Graham.

this hearing is a Wake up call, and the Constitution is clearly under attack.

I also have to say I prayed for Gabby Giffords, when the whole ordeal happened. I understand how when you go through something like this, it can change your perspective. But that doesn’t mean your choices and your perspectives are pushed on me.

We are having so much shoved at us, that isn’t going to make any difference in our lives except make matters worse.

they are talking about Gun Control and Illegals becoming Legal, but yet in the 4th Quarter last year our Economy dropped, and Bernanke is Printing money like Crazy, propping up the stock market, which is going to crash.

What they should be talking about is Stagflation and Inflation, how there are no Jobs, and getting on Eric Holder’s Case, and Obama’s to prosecute Criminals. they are not Prosecuting anyone.

    • MiketheMarine

Which includes Maobama and holders act of war against mexico by running guns to their criminal elements. They are guilty of treason, pure and simple.

      • kssturgis62

Exactly !! between Fast and Furious and Benghazi that what they should be talking about and taking care of !!

    • badbadlibs

Kudos to you for being able to withstand the entire hearing! You’ve got guts and thanks so much for the report.
I have a weak stomach anymore and just can’t bear to watch the leftists that are he!! bent on destroying America.

  • ryanomaniac

I’m glad this man is my Senator. I never capitalize the word senator for obvious reasons. I will for this man though.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/CZSU2D67ODNZOKEZYHXONQ4F5Y John

Wayne, remember – your audience is 99 percent liberal idiots! Don’t get into the details – just tell them straight that their “ban” is a sad joke!
Feinstein, that idiot, thinks that a piece of plastic makes an “assault gun”.
What if we attach a piece of white fabric – PEACE! PEACE!! – to it??
Everything will be honky dory? A brain of 1 year old. Or mentally retarded 79 yr. old…

  • OldmanRick

Ouch! Telling the senate it acts like a bunch of emotional “jerks” rather than dealing in facts has to really smart. But then the truth sometimes does that very thing, especially for a bunch of children who receive large paychecks for doing less and less on a daily basis.

  • stage9

I’ve got an idea! Why not attach a pistol grip to the Feinstein’s massive forehead and then BAN HER??

  • deeme

Just today a woman and her son had their house broken into by three illegals..they had a gun, duct tape, and a knife, luckily they were having a hard time getting the plastic off their duct tape , which gave her time to get her handgun and tell them to get out..she shot one of them and two got away, they caught the guy that went to the hospital for care..

Has anyone stood up and asked, how are we saving children by taking guns away from the law abiding citizens , while passing guns out to the criminals “Fast and Furious”…this is insane..I can’t stomach even listening to it..and can’t believe it’s happening in light of no one has paid for Fast and Furious..

Get ready for the vilification on MSNBC and CNN along with the networks in 3…2…..1…

    • marketcomp

I have not doubt that he will welcome the critics. He can run rings around these clowns and sycophants of Obama. He will probably be ignored more than vilified. Highlighting him will just make him tougher.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/44F4AB4VSCTOCHBMBG4ZWWD5OU Laurel

Well I expect that he is ready for them. They will probably ignore him because that is what they do with facts. Pea brains on the left can’t grasp facts…heads might explode.

        • HarrietHT2

If only they would . . . well, figuratively, of course.

  • sjmom

Of course they’re not going to allow Cruz a second round………….he already showed them foolish in this one. Kudos Senator.

This was EXCELLENT!!!!!! My mom learned a lot from this!!!

  • BHliberty

Great presentation and argument! Basically pointing out that what the legislation would do is nothing!

  • HarrietHT2

More Cruz, please. It’s always obvious, isn’t it, when a man speaks truth from a deep well of conviction; thank God for his ability to cut-to-the-chase, without apology or rancor. We have waited for so long for a statesman of his calibre. Are our prayers being answered?

And yes, Lapierre should have read the signals that his purpose there was to answer questions not to give background info. It’s like a court appearance, or as Jack Webb would say, “Just the facts, ma’am, nothing but the facts” — in this case, a direct answer to a direct question. His heart was in the right place, but his long answer dissipated the mounting tension, or thrust, of Cruz’s presentation and questioning.

    • Orangeone

I read both of the articles, thank you again for those links. I disagree a bit with the position that Scalia is arguing for big gov’t because he wants the feds to enforce immigration laws passed by Congress or permit the states to do the same. That is the role of the fed gov’t. It is not the fed gov’ts role to educate children, create welfare programs, etc. that should be left local.

      • HarrietHT2

McCarthy is saying that a dual sovereignty exists between the states and the federal government: “The Constitution does not subordinate the states and the people to the federal government; to the contrary, its main objective is to suppress the federal government, to cabin its powers to a few, limited areas of national concern.” The federal government is tasked with oversight regarding citizenship but not to the enforcement of border security, which McCarthy argues belongs to the states, which may appeal to the national government if help is needed.

He is saying that Scalia, and Thomas, both agreed otherwise, wrongly (in their dissenting opinion on AZ SB1070). And so when Obama can sue, and overturn, Arizona’s law which merely mimics federal law — a law that Obama refuses to enforce — then the state of Arizona is no longer sovereign and able to protect its citizens from the “scourge of illegal immigration.”

McCarthy is agreeing with Scalia that the states would never have ratified a Constitution that could strip them of their sovereignty. Scalia’s question was this: “would the states have agreed to enter the Union if the Constitution had stipulated that their sovereign powers were subject to total abrogation by Congress, as long as federal legislators were plain-spoken about it? Not a chance.” Neither Scalia nor Thomas appear to doubt, however, that Congress “could preempt” the states in the matter of immigration law, even though both agreed that this is not what Congress had done in the matter of the case before them. (Their’s was the dissenting opinion, remember.)

I do agree with McCarthy, that both Scalia and Thomas are assuming more power for the federal government than the Constitution allows. And the obvious ill effects, of preemption, is that Arizona, where I happen to live, is not able to defend itself as it should.

Thank you, Orangeone, for taking the time to go over this with me.

A ban on “scary looking guns” – what a great summary that we should repeat over and over and over.

    • MiketheMarine

How about a ban on “‘scary looking politicians.” I think John Kerry would have to step down yesterday with that ban.

I’ve put him in my 2016 file already. A man of rare qualities in the Senate!

      • Conservative_Hippie

When i first heard about him I didn’t know if he’d be too “green” in the Senate. But maybe being “green” is a good thing. I just hope the “D.C. machine” doesn’t get to him!

  • Rocco11

Nicely done Senator Cruz! Though I would have left out the nod to Mark Kelly, and acknowledged the great Wayne LaPierre instead…

    • Orangeone

I would have omitted the Gifford too and thanked the woman that represents millions of women.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ronald.chappell.73 Ronald Chappell

Clearly presented. Makes one wonder how those gun control proponents can keep from hiding their head in shame. But then they ARE liberals aren’t they?
I can fantasize Dianne F. after the next mass shooting in front of the cameras saying “…yes but we saved two children while the shooter changed his clips twice.” A scene all the more likely since the Obama request for parity in the AHC act for mental health coverage assures that even more unstable people will receive psychiatric treatment (along with psychotropic drugs) which have been implicated in nearly all mass shootings.

    • tsturbo

The answer is really simple- they don’t have normal functioning consciences like you do.

  • tsturbo

Heaven sent common sense, articulate and unafraid.
This is the kind of leader that conservative, constitutional and Christian Americans desperately need championing their causes.

  • yhxqqsn

“He even told the Senate that many times it seems their policy is based on emotion and that decisions are made in a ‘fact-free-zone’.”

Nice to have another person in government pointing out the idiocy.

  • chatterbox365

Texas is very lucky to have him.

    • tsturbo

Agreed. Can the rest of America share him with Texas, for say the next 20 years?

  • slpence

We are very lucky to have Sen. Cruz – he’s already making his mark. I would like to point out, that in the primaries he was endorsed by both Gov. Palin and Sen. DeMint, which speaks volumes. Two true constitutional conservatives recognized something good in this man and supported him over Dewhurst. They were so right!

  • 57thunderbird

Ted Cruz is amazing.I hope spending time in the beltway never corrupts his thinking. The man is simply brilliant.

  • Akabosan

I wonder, oh it makes me wonder…

What will happen if we can change the lexicon and the national dialogue (ergo the entire argument) from ‘gun violence,’ to violence gun or even just violence.

  • DebbyX

I respect Mr. Kelly, but he missed half of the presentation for a bathroom break. And all day on the radio, I must of heard at least half a dozen times, his wife speaking on behalf of this Bill. Outrageous! They don’t even know what they’re banning. Most looked like deer in headlights.

    • Orangeone

The man with CCW that was at her shooting would have had an illegal weapon because of the magazine.

  • UnCL3

I’m gonnoa LOVE listening to Cruz tell it like it is…and thankful that MY state chose this guy over David Douchebag Dewhurst…

    • StandProudNow

Palin had a LOT to do with that :)

      • UnCL3

I know….she helped Cruz wipe that douche OUT

      • Orangeone

That is why Palin is so powerful off the ticket and out vetting true conservative candidates. If she can bring us a few more in 2014 we’ll reclaim the Senate. And then focus on the potus team.

  • odin147

Cruz is on the top of my list for president.

    • StandProudNow

2nd on mine. :) I’ve got Gov Palin as my absolute top choice. But, what a powerful ticket they would be if they ran together!!

    • philomena

Unfortunately, he was born in Canada. He would make a great president.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/ZVCGRG62NAGQXJ6ZNE4JCTVVTU Ray

Well, the current occupant wasn’t born here either, and the law doesn’t apply to Hispanics, so why not? :)

  • sue-marie

Yes…finally we have someone that speaks plain English that even the low information voter can understand. Now since the low information voter does not watch Senate hearings, there has to be a way to get this to the public. The MSM would never air this on TV. Maybe the RNC/ GOP Super Pacs/Senate Republicans, etc. need to start buying air time during the low information voter’s shows. How else can we educate them? The left is doing everything they can to stop the flow of truth.

  • StandProudNow

Yes, we are ALL very fortunate to have this great man in the Senate.

And we should let him know how we feel. That we stand with him!
A great way is to call his office and relay a message through his so very nice staff.
    Washington office: (202) 224-5922

    Follow him on twitter: https://twitter.com/SenTedCruz

We need to let the few honorable House members know that we have their back!

  • d00mie

I like Cruz, but he’s just too nice. We need a bomb thrower in the Senate.

  • http://twitter.com/ajroo AlecJ

F it— Ted Cruz for President. I will not vote GOP for President ever again unless the nominate a real conservative like Pat Toomey, Mike Lee, Rand Paul or especially Ted Cruz.

This guy is the real deal and makes me want to move to Texas.

  • jleinf

I am a lock-and-load liberal, and I am sick and tired of this President. He’s been way too soft on right-wing dirtbags. It’s time he starts arming the ATF with Predator drones (the ones with hellfire missiles). We need to put a BIG FEDERAL BOOT on all right-wing insurrectionist, traitor states. South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Oklahoma need to have their skies filled with Predators. You all want a second Civil War do ya? How did the first one work out? We were superior in tech then, and are superior in tech now. Blue states have Silicon Valley, Caltech and MIT. Good look shooting a Predator with your AR-15 hillbillies. WE WILL PUT YOU DOWN FAST.

  • 27Words

Wow! Just watched Senator Durtbag and now Senator Cruz… what a difference in character, integrity and logic from two members of the same body!

  • Malkiel_kol_hakavod_la_el

One of the FACTS that the fact free zone ignores is, except in areas where gun control laws are toughest, violent crime where guns are used has been declining since concealed carry has been introduced. More guns in law abiding citizens hands means less crime.

    SENATOR CRUZ U ARE SALIENT!!

  • dneuwen

here’s hoping sen. ted cruz continue to be true to his reliably conservative and constitution-centered credentials which the good people of texas voted him for. Kudos for sen. cruz for ripping apart some of the false narratives which the left deceptively used to foist their unconstitutional agenda of gun grab. america needs more of his ilk to fight the honorable fight of defending america’s constitution which is the bulwark of its freedoms and exceptionalism.

  • MikeDyer

Just when you think there’s not a politician worth believing or electing along comes Ted Cruz…a complete dark horse when he decided to run for office..and not given much of a chance at all running against Lt Gov. Dewhurst who had a serious campaign $$ war chest and the backing of Gov Perry…and now doing what he said he’d do and what we elected him to do..one of the truly bright spots for me personally in this last election

My son already moved to Texas, and with the two bozos we have representing us in the United States Senate I may just join him. As Davy Crockett said “You all can go to hell, I’m going to Texas.” Of course, around March 5, 1836 he may well have regretted that decision.

    CDC exposes gun-control myths

The Centers for Disease Control, an agency of the federal government, has conducted studies of many of the gun-control laws in place, such as waiting periods, registration, and bans on certain types of firearms. The results showed that the idea that gun control laws have reduced violent crime is simply a myth. The CDC is hardly a shill for the NRA. Political trends throughout the country have reflected the growing realization by the majority of Americans that restricting the rights of law-abiding citizens is not only ineffective as a means of combating crime, but counter-productive. All of the research over the last few decades bears this out. (One of many excellent sources is “More Guns; Less Crime” by former University of Chicago and current Harvard professor, John Lott).

As uncomfortable as it may be for the Chicago Sun-Times editorial board to understand, the 2nd Amendment is not about hunting, target shooting or even self defense. It is first and foremost, as intended by the Founding Fathers, a means to keep government in check. Gun-ban advocates may wish to dismiss as paranoid fantasy such notions, but any honest study of history supports this fact. The fact that a totalitarian regime in America seems far-fetched today is precisely because the 2nd Amendment has had the intended and desired effect, and it gives teeth to the rest of our great Constitution. The founders would be considered NRA “extremists” by the Sun-Times editorial board.
