Ted Cruz talks the Second Amendment, debt ceiling on Meet the Press

Ted Cruz was on Meet the Press this morning to primarily discuss the Second Amendment and the debt ceiling. The downside to this clip is that he’s on with Schmucky Schumer.

    • TexasPGRRider

Believe me Miky, it costs a LOT of money to drill an oilwell when you end up with what we call a “Dry Hole”.

      • victoryman

        I hope Barney Frank doesn’t read this…….

        • TexasPGRRider

Indeed the interpretation of the phrase is open for speculation. However, it is the correct term used by the industry….

    • davienne

it would slide off the bald spot in the back

  • Look at Schumer’s face, man is it annoying:

    • notsofastthere

I think he was the kind of child even a mother can’t love. Wonder if his mother ever got involved in the pro abortion movement?

  • Schumer is on my list of The Ten People I Would Like To Punch Most In This World.

  • Nukeman60

Wow, when did David Gregory get out of prison for his illegal possession of large-capacity magazines? Oh, what? He was never charged? Hmmm…

    • Orangeone

Nuke, you know there are rules for them and different rules for us….

      • Nukeman60

Oh, yeah. How could I forget. Laws for us and recommendations for them. It makes sense – to a liberal.

        • victoryman

It’s kind of like the Ten Commandments. “Commandments” to us. “Suggestions” to them.

      • victoryman

“We are all created equal……it’s just that some are more equal than others.”

    • Susanna958

David also doesn’t mention how his won kids are protected at school by armed guards. And that the school the Pres’s kids go to, has eleven armed guards all the time, even before his kids went there.

      • Nukeman60

I think that question should be asked of every host that talks gun control. Put them on the defensive, see if they lie or tell the truth, and then nail them with the facts.

  • Nukeman60

‘These laws are not perfect.’ – Schumer

These laws have NO effect on the situations they claim to be made to prevent. That is the point, Schummy. Get real.

I hate the way people like Gregory use their opponents, like La Pierre, to push their points. It doesn’t matter that La Pierre didn’t argue against your point. That doesn’t mean he agreed with it.

    Liberals. PTUI.

    • aposematic

Yes! When Gregory brought up Pierre I thought: would be nice if Cruz had told Gregory that if he wanted to debate Pierre he should ask Pierre back on the show.

  • Love the zinger at the end , hehehe

  • clockwindingdown

So Cruz was given what about 3 minutes of talk time out 17:46? Every time Cruz said something the subject was changed immediately afterwards and no follow up comments. Shuey was enabled to unleash all his talking points with virtually no opposing view being allowed.

I will add that shuey thinks the president should be able to raise the debt ceiling whenever and for whatever. Will he support that a president should be able to cut spending whenever and for whatever. In other words would he support a Conservative POTUS eliminating DOE’s, DHS, TSA, etc., etc.? These type of people are unreal, shuey obviously does not believe in our system of government and that alone should find him stripped of wealth he earned from his political position and imprisoned for violation of oath.

This wasn’t a news show it was pure bash the right, deliver talking points, prop up the leftist destruction of our country, what a joke!

    • tshtsh

Thanks for the heads up. Muting worked fine have to work on lip reading.

    • Orangeone

Standard operating procedure for the liberals. I’m surprised Cruz was given as much time as he was. Love that my puter has MUTE

  • notsofastthere

Chuck, you fuzzy little moron, the last time someone bought 20 guns then sold them to others was in Fast and Furious, or did you conviently forget that. Chuck you’re a schmuck!

    • Nukeman60

Yeah, we need to have background checks on law-abiding citizens, because illegally selling guns to felons will be stopped by having a background check before doing so. If it was illegal to do it prior to their regs, then a new law or requirement won’t stop them afterwards. They never get it, do they?

    • victoryman

“Schmuck” is good. “Putz” is better.

  • That 40% number they keep trotting out is not a fact. It’s pretty funny that they keep using an unconfirmed number like that while ignoring the host of studies such as the Lott study that are factual. As usual, they are cheery picking numbers and only looking at one side of the equation. This alone tells us that there is an agenda here.

  • Grumpa37

If I someday want to sell or give a gun to anyone but rock solid progeny, I’ll *require* a background check for the buyer/recipient. When I fire a gun, I take responsibility for any effects the bullet has on anyone or anything. If I sell or give a gun, I can’t be responsible for the bullets the gun sends out, but I do want to know I did all I could to prevent evil or careless use of what once was my gun. [That said, it’s hard to imagine selling or giving away any of my beloved tools.]

  • TexasPGRRider

    GO GET `EM TED !!!!

  • notsofastthere

Chucky, you adorable pit bull, are you going to prohibit NY cops from having guns. They shot a bunch of innocent bystanders at the Empire State Building in Aug. 2012! I mean, that’s gun violence, isn’t it? Google ‘cops shoot unarmed…’ or cops raped women.
By your reasoning Shouldn’t we get rid of all police? They are a danger to the public.
Your bafoon —you’re a danger to our way of life.

  • semby

    Cruz did an EXCELLENT job.

    Read more about Schumer below….

Not only does Schumer carry a handgun, the New York City Police Department also provides armed escorts for the good senator. In fact, the Government Accounting Office — the investigative arm of the US Congress — slammed Schumer’s use of police resources for personal protection. It’s clear that Schumer believes he’s special. He wishes to ban private citizens’ ownership of firearms, while he enjoys layers of protection.

“No wonder Chuckie Schumer shoots his mouth off so much – he’s able to protect himself,” says a 25-year police veteran.

Also, a check of Pistol License records shows that Senator Schumer possesses an “unrestricted” pistol permit, a rarity in New York City. Licenses are distributed in different categories in the Big Apple: Target Permits allow only use of a firearm at a licensed firing range; Premises Permits allow weapons to be kept in a home or apartment; Restricted Permits allow the gunowner to carry their firearms concealed but only within the purview of their job (security, jewelers, armored car guards, etc.). So it’s evident that Senator Schumer has two sets of rules — one for Americans and one for himself.

  • aposematic

17:47 minutes of Gregory having a Leftist confab with Schumer; I was waiting for Gregory to offer Schumer beer and pretzels, with a few minutes offered to Cruz to answer two Gregory questions that revolved around why Cruz hates Obuma.

  • Orangeone

Why is no one pushing for a registry of the illegal aliens? They can use false papers to purchase a gun with are two illegal acts. Then we know who they are, where they are and can round them up. There are millions and this will do much to solve our financial and safety issues.

  • Schumer is trying the typical Statist tactic of giving his position a misleading, but fine sounding name, pro gun safety. But *I* am “pro gun safety”. I want to have a gun to help keep me safe. Prohibition is not “pro gun safety”. Rather, it is “pro criminal safety”.

I appreciate Cruz’s description of Hagel’s “nomination day conversion”.

    • KenInMontana

+ RULE V: SQUEEZE DON`T PULL TRIGGER …… RULE VI: ELIMINATE THREAT …………. Peace be with you….

      • Really makes me wonder about those guys that had the AD’s at/after those gun shows. I’ve been out with friends who I swore I’d never go near again when we had guns along, because they just did not follow the Colonel’s rules.

        It ain’t NeuroRocketry.

  • Great reason for Political Abuse of Psychiatry. Everyone calls women crazy. People of different opinions call others crazy. Keep the 2nd Amendment. You could say a woman who lives next to crack house is crazy, but maybe she’s just poor. Psychiatrists are crazy and used by courts and politicians and ex’s all the time to abuse people.

  • Godisright

I cannot even listen to Gregory or stand his smug attitude.
Wayne was right. We can’t enforce the gun laws we have now. Gregory should have been watching his successor from a cell this morning !

  • Gregory maintains a skeptical posture with Cruz and interrupts him frequently with talking points designed to trip him up. Fortunately Cruz was well prepared.

Meanwhile, Schumer blathers on forever with no challenge.

    • TexasPGRRider

      SOP of leftwing…….

    • victoryman

What did you expect from this pimp of the state run media?

  • anneinarkansas

Ted Cruz is one of our up and coming champions. He is an impressive, articulate man of the people.
Schmucky Schumer is a loser on all counts. His day will come and not soon enough.

  • I am so sick of Shucky Shucks bottom lines. Does’t he know how to frame a comprehensible sentence with out beginning with “the bottom line is this”. It is just as annoying as when Obama begins a sentence with “let me be clear”. When ever they use these phrases you just know it is going to be a fat lie. Disgusting! I thought Cruz did a great job if Gregory would just shut up and let him talk.

    • Orangeone

Gregory only invited Cruz to make it appear bi-partisian. He’s a slug and I wish Cruz had made the point that Gregory’s kids attend a school w/armed security and that the armed security where the O brats attend is ARMED SCHOOL SECURITY plus they have the SS.

  • Cruz (like Flake and Fischer) have been most gracious in saying thank you to Sarah Palin’s support/endorsements.

I won’t forget that. Those three have my support.

  • repubboy

Hey Ted Is that your grandpa next to you.. Boy he sure is getting old and you know he sounds like he needs a permanent retirement from the senate. It’s time for him to go..
Oh yes one more thing Ted, Please don’t over stay your welcome either !
Its just a Part time Job not a lifetime position !

While we ourselves, consider each other to be ordinary Americans, with enough brains and common sense to get us through life without much assistance from our government, we somehow seem to elect people to lead us, who are absolute Idiots.

Chuck Schumer is a good example. I don’t think I need to list all the others. All of you know their names.

I don’t mean that you and all of the others here on Scoop voted for these people. I know you didn’t. But they did. They, being the Democratic/Socialist/Communist Party, and those who follow that miserable segment of our populace.

You and I both know, that we are right to protect the basic Freedom of Americans. Not just your Freedom, or my Freedom, but the Freedom of all Americans. Even those who don’t know what Freedom means.

The Democratic party does not believe in Freedom. The Democratic Party believes in power and control. The Democratic Party believes in a powerful Federal Government. A government that has the power to control everything in your life.

Everything The Founders warned us against. And don’t play dumb. They did warn us. They absolutely did warn us. They wrote The Constitution.

From what you watch on television, to what you view on your computer, to what you eat for dinner, the Democratic Party wants to control your life. And most importantly, where your children go to school. Look for new regulations on the horizon, that restrict your right to put your children in a private Christian School.

After The Second Amendment, Private Christian Schools, are the next thing they are going to go after. You simply cannot destroy the fabric and the mainstay of the real belief of the American people, without once and for all, destroying the religious base that is both the heart of what we believe, and the foundation that we are willing to fight for.

I don’t always hit the mark, of what I am trying to say. Sometimes, I fall short. I guess I depend on the more intelligent among you, to understand what I am trying to get across the table.

We are losing this country. Quite simply, we are losing this country to idiots. To people who do not believe as we do. We are what this country is made of. You and me. Our children and grandchildren. We believe in Freedom. They don’t. They believe in a massive Federal government, that will control all of our lives, from now until the end of time. Eventually, a One World Government. That is their ultimate goal.

I give us one chance in three, for pulling it off.

Pretty good odds, from my perspective. What do you say?

  • white531

I like Ted Cruz. I wish there were more like him in the Washington Cesspool. More like him, would make a huge difference.

    • victoryman

I voted for Cruz. I just hope he will not start wearing the standard republican suit that is empty and folds…….

  • TexasBanker

I am very proud to have voted Ted Cruz against Dewhurst in the primaries. Keep defending the Constitution Ted!

  • white531

Problem is, people like Schumer, and Pelosie, and Reid, are immensely appealing to people who don’t want to work for a living. Sadly, that is what we are facing, going forward.

In spite of all we try to do to prevent it, this once great nation is following the European Socialist model of government toward the inevitable disaster that is simply unavoidable, if we continue on this path of madness.

I have no hope at this point, that we will escape our eventual destiny, if we continue on this path.

On the good side, I believe in the American people, and their resilience. Their ability to fight when they are down. Their courage, when they are faced with enemies who seek to destroy them. It is our strength, in the end, that will save us.

Scoop helps us do that. Make no mistake.

  • CapeLady

We need more taxpayers… not more taxes. That means implementing pro-growth policies that will create private sector employment and getting able-bodied Americans back to work and off food stamps and welfare benefits!!! We have far too many people who are able to work but choose not to, so the burden on working Americans who pay taxes will continue to grow and no matter how much we pay, with Washington’s profligate spending… it will never be enough!

  • Schumer has one of the most slimy and punchable faces known to man.

  • white531

I know we are all different. I revel in that. If we were all the same, this country would not be what it is. Quite frankly, it wouldn’t be worth squat. We are what we are, because we are mix of all the people of the planet.

This is the place everyone comes to. From all the continents and countries of the world, this is where they come. This is Ground Central for the world as we know it.

What the Founders created, more than two hundred years ago, was a paradise of Freedom. The shining light on the hill.

In arguing politics, we sometimes forget that. They may pretend to hate us, or hate our principles. But still they come. Why do they do that?

Because they know we got it right. Of all the countries in the world, with all of their misguided political doctrines that didn’t work, they know ours did.

Why then, do they come to these shining shores and immediately set about to create, yet again, the madness they just escaped from?

    I will never understand that.

I live in Tucson. South Tucson is just like Mexico. No, I’m serious. When you go below 22nd street in Tucson, you are in a community that is not that much different than Mexico.

I have traveled extensively in Mexico. They have re-created the Mexico they escaped from, in Tuscon, Arizona. I’m not making this up. I live here.

The America we are trying to preserve, and keep for future generations, is lost.
Illegals are crossing our southern border like cockroaches running across your carpet. Your government is compliant, in that exercise.

I know some of you think there is a way to stop this mass invasion of people who have no right to be here. There isn’t. Because your own President and your own Federal Government approve of it.

Illegals, once they are given the right to vote, guarantee the continued existence of the Democratic Party. It is as simple as that. They paint the Republican Party as a bunch of rich fat cats, who hate poor people.

Until someone comes along in the Republican Party, who is able to get the Conservative message out there, we are doomed to continue down the path we are on.

Because the American people at this point, are just that stupid.

    • tinlizzieowner

The USSR didn’t build the Berlin wall to keep people from getting in. 😉
Yet time and time again we see immigrant communities that look and act exactly the countries they fled, to come to the ‘land of opportunity’.

      • Orangeone

You are correct. And these idiotic plans for parents to choose the schools and have us bus this slime into our great communities is insanity. We must fix the problem and that starts with enforcing ALL laws.

    • I’m glad at least people on here understand that.

  • white531

It is simply madness what this maniac of a President has planned for this country’s future.

It is worse than madness, that the overwhelming majority of Americans see no problem with what he has planned for them.

  • I remember it being said that the most dangerous place in Washington was between chucky schumer and a camera/microphone.

  • Relatively surprised at how hard Gregory went after Schumer on spending and the AWB. Not that it was a balanced interview, but he at least pushed Schumer more than I’ve seen in most places other than Fox.

  • Malkiel_kol_hakavod_la_el

Chuck sold his something that might have appeared as soul along time ago to a ideal that democrats are gods and the only power rightfully ordained to rule the peoples… Or in laymen words.. A truly great big moron……

    • He seems like the type who never had a soul in the first place. Even looking at him, I mean Schumer’s got to be the slimiest looking person I’ve ever seen.

  • tinlizzieowner

I’m surprised they still have the guts to call that show ‘Meet The Press’. Meet The Script would be more accurate.

    • Orangeone

It used to be a good show.

  • Schumer: “this is the sweet spot”. (background checks) Yeah, this is the sweet spot in getting national registration of all guns. Universal background checks is the same as federal registration, and a precursor to confiscation.

I hear a lot of people getting behind Cruz. If I were to judge him based on this interview, I would have to say that Cruz did not say anything different than your run of the mill republicans would. He did not defend the second amendment ardently, and he let Schumer get away with lying through his teeth. Schumer has made his interests on gun control very clear, and was talking out both sides of his head. What did Cruz say about it?……………………………………………Nothing. Why not get out of your chair and go look at the back of Schumer’s head? When they ask what you are doing, you say “I’m looking for his other face”.

Maybe Cruz is just afraid of Schumer. Maybe he is just a really nice guy who doesn’t want to take the fight to the enemy. Maybe he takes advice from Romney. I don’t know, but he sure didn’t act like he was there to defend and protect the people of this country from the liberal onslaught that is taking place on the future of this country.

    • He was good enough for Ron Paul to endorse. Ron Paul doesn’t throw his credibility behind a lot of people.

      • I don’t know a lot about Cruz, but it seems to me that we need to correctly represent the second amendment as to what it was really about. In doing this, we need to make sure that people know that it was for the ability to keep government in check. Many who are supporting the second amendment are avoiding this altogether. RP doesn’t. I found this article from when RP sent out a letter supporting Cruz. It is interesting to read the comment posts. I think that RP was taking the man for his word, and I don’t claim to know enough about Cruz to criticize him overall, I was just disappointed with his lack of aggression here.

        • Paul’s got pretty good judgement I would say. We don’t have a record on Cruz yet but he looks potentially good so far. Maybe he could’ve done better here. Time will tell.
I’m aware some of Palin’s followers weren’t enthused about some of the people she supported either. Especially insane McCain but she was forced to the old man as she was his VP, but also Carly Fiorina who she didn’t have to endorse but she seems to have sincerely thought was a good candidate. There’s some Palin supporters who thought everybody who ran for President was trying to basically mock her, even people she got along with. Some might have reconsidered Newt at the end.
Some of the comments are…interesting that’s correct. Disturbed, brash/cynical, some possibly anti-Semitic (I don’t know), but you’ll find a few of them on any site from anybody with a base. They make everybody look bad but I think the “Everyone’s a traitor, nobody at all is a true Scotsman” are a minority in both the Paul and Palin camps, like how most folks can be in love with a person without resentfully and bitterly thinking all of their friends get in the way.

  • 1endtimes2020

It’s a good thing he made his comments in America…….so far.

  • Schumer, a NY concealed carry permit holder, really should know the difference between a “clip” and a magazine. An AR-15 does not have a 100 round “clip”. Why does he get to decide what someone needs or does not need. How come he doesn’t mention the 5400 daily, legal, defensive gun-uses in the US? Why does he leave that uncomfortable statistic out of consideration?

    • sue-marie

Why? Because it is as Cruz just stated. The elite of America want to impose no guns so that we are helpless when they finally inflict tyranny on us. This should be the right’s MANTRA….the Liberal “rich” want to take our guns so they can enslave the masses. (Why else are they attacking the middle class law-abiding gun owner? We need to nail this message home on TV, radio, web sites, twitter etc. Spread the word, guys, remember it is about messaging to all voters. Beat Obama at his own game!

      • Orangeone

Many on this site are doing so! Thanks for the great reminder.

  • The 1st Amendment does not gag you before you enter a theater because you have the ability to yell “Fire” in it. Comparing that to the 2nd Amendment is infantile. The Founder’s did not anticipate movie theaters, so maybe the 1st Amendment should not apply to movie theaters.

  • sue-marie

I had to stop this tape four minutes into it to jot down a thought. Does Schumer think that background checks is going to stop the evil guy from selling his 20 guns he just bought? Heck no…we will see a black market like never before. Justice will be so busy with gun trafficking…all the rest of the criminals will go free from rape, murder and robbery. Schumer isn’t a fool…this is all about politics but will end up backfiring on him as we are slowly witnessing now. Messing with the 2nd Amendment may just cost them the Senate. There is a God! Ok…on with the video.

    • Orangeone

I agree with you but unfortunately it will be the common man and woman (mainly women) who will be the victims of the violent crimes and our cries for protection will go unanswered unless an election is the next day.

  • Coralchristie

“I don’t think…. Reasonable limitations….” these are words that say that he knows best because it’s his thoughts and his reason. Schumer is a scumbag.

  • Coralchristie

Notice how Gregory wasn’t going to even open the door to Cruz for a comment on the Hagel nomination. I agree with Cruz that the Hagel record with an appointment day conversion is incredibly suspect.

  • Hey Chucky-Schmuky (to echo the great Mark Levin!):

Using “bottom-line” to preface every sentence you spew does not make it the bottom-line.

  • Conservative_Hippie

I was impressed that Cruz did not back down and giot the last word in about Hagel. Cruz comes across to me as someone that is quick on his toes, we need more of him on the Conservative side!

    • Orangeone

Yes we do! I follow him on Twitter so will try and post his links on OT here. I know Duckie will post on the CFP FaceBook page 🙂

      • Conservative_Hippie

I follow him also on Facebook.

Sarah Brady has really lowered herself with the company she keeps in Obama. The man with no background check wants background checks on Americans. I’ll bet Jihadists will scoot right on through though. They flew planes into buildings and now they search and molest white Americans.
