Ted Cruz’s Freedom Minute: Happy Constitution Day

Consider this an open thread:

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) today released the latest weekly “Freedom Minute” segment, in which he observes Constitution Day and shares a memorization trick used to remember the enumerated powers of Congress.

Hi, I’m Ted Cruz and this is the Freedom Minute

Happy Constitution Day!

In honor of this day, I’d like to share a memorization trick that I learned for remembering Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution — the enumerated powers of Congress.

All you need to do is remember TCC-NCC-PCC pawn momma wren.

It sounds funny but here is how it works:

TCC stands for: “Taxes,” “Credit,” “Commerce.”

NCC for: “Naturalization,” “Coinage,” “Counterfeiting.”

PCC for: “Post Office,” “Copyright,” “Courts.”

Pawn for: “Piracy,” “Army,” “War,” “Navy.”

Momma for: “Militia” and “Money for militia.”

And wren for: “Washington DC,” “Rules,” and “Necessary and proper.”

Try it yourself and share it with your friends. TCC-NCC-PCC pawn momma wren.

If everybody knew the enumerated powers, maybe Congress would follow them.

Thanks for listening. I’m Ted Cruz and this is the Freedom Minute.
