The Austin bomber apparently hated homosexuality and abortion…and called himself a ‘conservative’

According to TMZ, the Austin bomber had written blog articles railing against both homosexuality and abortion:

Austin bomber Mark Conditt blogged that homosexuality is not natural and therefore gay marriage should be illegal.

It appears Conditt was a student in an online American government class in 2012 at Austin Community College, where he submitted several blogs in which he gave his opinions on a variety of issues.

As for gay marriage, Conditt wrote, “Homosexuality is not natural. Just look at the male and female bodies … It would be like trying to fit two screws together and to nuts together and then say, ‘see, it’s natural for them to go together.'”

In addition to attacking homosexuality, he railed on the government providing women with free abortions, saying, “If you can’t provide for a child, then don’t have sex.”

Conditt also talked about doing away with the sex offender registry, commenting “You have to really hate the guy to make him suffer for the rest of his life, even when his prison time is up.”

He also blogged in support of the death penalty, saying, “Living criminals harm and murder again — executed ones do not.”

Here’s more from NBC News:

A 2012 blog, which appears to be part of a government class project at Austin Community College, lists the author as Mark Conditt of Pflugerville, Texas. Conditt is believed to have been a resident of Pflugerville, north of Austin.

NBC News could not immediately confirm if the blog belonged to the suspect, but public records show only one Mark Conditt in Pflugerville.

The blog espouses political beliefs, including entries describing why the author believes gay marriage should not be legalized and why the United States should do away with sex offender registration.

“I am not that politically inclined. I view myself as a conservative, but I don’t think I have enough information to defend my stance as well as it should be defended,” a description of the author reads. “The reasons I am taking this class is because I want to understand the US government, and I hope that it will help me clarify my stance, and then defend it.”

Early on I told a friend of mine that considering Austin is an outlier in Texas, the bomber could be someone who doesn’t like their sanctuary city policies. But honestly, I didn’t think it would end up being someone on the right. Why? Because this is incredibly inconsistent with right-leaning thinkers, especially those who believe in Jesus. Many of us live by a Christian moral code which is why we detest abortion and homosexuality. How can someone like that end up killing people? Your guess is as good as mine.

Of course this is only a small picture of what Conditt believed and police don’t yet know why he committed these bombings. I’m sure there is much more to this story and hopefully his roommates, friends, and family will help shed light on this.
