The Obamas encouraging students to get out of the private sector and work for government

This is an enlightening video by Townhall showing how both the president and the first lady have been encouraging graduating students to forgo the “brass ring” in the private sector and work for the government instead:

      Yea like on Nov. 6th.

    • CarlosLumpuy

While she speaks, images come to mind of this First Lady and her entourage of dozens of her friends, hands full of high end shopping bags and opulence, walking the finest shopping districts Europe has to offer while on a week sojourn at the Ritz Carlton in Marbella, Spain.

Honestly, how can they be taken seriously when they publicly preach and instruct environmental austerity and sacrifice upon American citizens while simultaneously indulging a limitless lavish lifestyle privately for themselves and their friends with palatial vacations every other month.

In stark contrast, First Lady Laura Bush would take hiking trips to showcase America’s National Parks: Yosemite, Olympic, Denali, and Zion. When Laura Bush took overseas trips it was on American humanitarian good will missions like AIDS and Malaria victims in Africa and disaster relief in Haiti.

I also remember all the media attention given when Nancy Reagan replaced missing and chipped White House china —with privately donated money.

Today this First Lady in the White House now is given a free pass spending public money, no scrutiny from a compliant media/press that is so blatant in its bias. Americans can see through all this.

It’s easy to govern when you just spend, spend, spend without any restraints instead of making hard choices the rest of the country outside of Washington is having to do these hard times only protracted by the policies of this administration.

Our public debt, nearing $16 Trillion, is now more than our nation’s Gross Domestic Product, and 40 cents of every dollar our federal government spends is borrowed, —this will be the legacy of this Presidency.

There shall be consequences not yet known to this fiscal dereliction of duty and betrayal to the American people.

      • las1

        Excellently said.

      • NJK

And these are the two criminals that John Roberts whored his reputation to.

  • MaroonRepublic

Isn’t working for the govt the new brass ring? Well up until the rest of the private sector dries up.

    • I was thinking more of the golden union ring…. which comes from golden eggs laid by the tax payers. Which, as you said, will be great for them until the egg layin’ days are over, tax payers bled dry and they end up rioting in the streets a la Greece.

  • Joe

This makes perfect sense to me

    have NO AMBITION

    have NO DREAM

have NO DESIRE to do YOUR BEST

SIMPLY live like a ZOMBIE and

SERVE – THE KING as he wishes

    After all –

GOVERNMENT WORKER is an OXYMORON i.e the GSA, SECRET SERVICE, MOST of CONGRESS, Attorney General, Bla – Bla – Bla

So if you work for the Government – You won’t work anyway

(ABO in 2012 – even a toilet bowl)

    • Sober_Thinking

      Good rant! 🙂

    • Cindy09

Exactly, what I was thinking!! The word “Career” is lost in their world. They want to change you into some sort of army that carry out their orders. Never mind that you have a soul and ambitions, they just want numbers. Never mind what happens after all the money dries out. Already counties across the US are suffering cut-downs amongst their city personnel. But hey keep the dopey changey thing going!

    • aZjimbo

barry and his wife can follow in the footsteps of julia.

    • NCHokie02

They should re-do that anti-hillary video thats like 1984 and basically just put Obama making this speech and some others in it. Thats what Romney’s next ad should be.

    • Susitna

This is the best advice of two of a kind who used to work in the private sector but had to surrender their licenses …….and now they are working not only for but are the government. They only thing they could create so far are temporary government jobs which is the same as creating temporary slaves forced to vote for them in the hope not to lose their jobs.

      • oldguyjustsayin

Speaking of “surrendering licenses” where is someone with enough courage to make a campaign issue / ad/ statement explaining what “surrendering a law license” really means…and furthermore that even the U of Chicago states that Obama was not a “professor”…. I wonder if has helped the current imposter.

  • toongoon

That’s quite a statement from a woman who takes luxury all expenses paid trips with money confiscated from the American people.

    • Sober_Thinking

Spot on Toongoon!!! Spot on!!! Hypocrites.

The Government has made Obama the man he is today… a slimy, lying politician. And cronyism has made Moochelle the woman she is today… decadent and materialistic.

      • StandingGround

I agree, Sober, but must add –

They both were that way from the beginning. They have exalted themselves Far Beyond their positions and are being enabled by unwilling citizens through the government they are forcing us to change in to.

They both give me the creeps!

        • Sober_Thinking

          Great point…

They give me the creeps too. 🙂

      • Moocelle is our modern day Marie Antoinette….Let them eat cake!

      • James1754

Be nice to the female dogs.

  • Don

Saul Alinsky hated the middle class because he thought they were a buffer to the upper class. Before the lower class could get to the upper class, they had to destroy the middle class first. In his book, “Rules for Radical” he demonstrates how to do it. Obama, being an Alinsky disciple, is trying to destroy the small businesses that make up the middle class. GOOGLE: Saul Alinsky…….Rules for Radicals

    • keyesforpres

This isn’t incompetence….this is being done on purpose. Odumbdumb is doing this on purpose.

      • Sober_Thinking

      • Don

Of course it is on purpose. Obama is a narcissist who thinks the universe revolves around him. He is a tool for a movement that is too incompetent and corrupt to succeed in achieving goals that are not realistic. Communism/marxism can never create the euphoric goals it espouses because it suppresses the producers that create the means of existence that is required for a society to subsist.

        • keyesforpres

He’s not looking for euphoric goals. He knows this will destroy the middle class and make us all poor….except those in power.

That is the first thing tyrants have to do, destroy the middle class.

          • Don

I totally agree about his destruction of the middle class. It is very obvious, but to do so he must garner enough support to try to stay in office by promising “eurphoric goals” like entitlements, redistribution of wealth and government handouts. They are euphoric in that they are unrealistic and cannot be perpetual because they are based on the backs of the producers/middle class. As the middle class is decimated, then the masses increase and the obvious continues. Tyrants may use force, but Obama’s way may work to a certain point, but this country will rebel against this transformation he is forcing on us and take back the freedoms that have made us the greatest nation on earth. We are saying the same thing just from different prospectives.

    • He promised to transform America, and he’s doing an outstanding job of it I’d say. Evil dictator.

  • Give me a break. Oh boo hoo, they had great jobs with great paychecks, probably because of affirmitive action. They are nothing but a worthless bunch of socialists. They MUST be defeated in November.

    • librtifirst

………and then the next administration must be defeated, then the next, and the next, until the establishment is not running things and we have a president who will act on our behalf.

      Good luck to that guy.

    • I still find it incredibly ironic that michelleantoinette had a job in Chicago at the hospital. She got paid over 300 grand a year to do nothing but keep poor people out of their hospital. Go figure.

      • freenca

Only because the Valarie arranged it. Read about it in Michelle Malkin’s “Culture of Corruption” , total Racial justice hiring, to be sure.

  • toongoon

The obama’s have a hold on that “brass ring” and they aren’t going to let go. They don’t want competition they expect subservience.

  • Captain_Maynard

So wait. Let me see if I have this straight. We’re not supposed to hunger after good private sector jobs with great pay and great perks? Instead, we should all become “community organizers” in our local districts or some crap like that?

And in the meanwhile, Obama and his children run for the most prestigious (admittedly public, but nonetheless prestigious (and having fancy names like “Senator”; “AG” and “President”)) offices and lord it over the rest of us for all time perpetual?

    Right. I think I’ll pass Mr POS-in-Chief.

    • librtifirst

They know that private sector employment is a thing of the past.

      • freenca

Every time privatization is tried, it works, if they treat the kinks as speed bumps, and not insurmountable obstacles. We are better than these sycophantic drones assume, and we know it. Have a Happy 4th celebration, we’ll be there too.

        • librtifirst

Privatization works, but not with the crony capitalism that we have. Privatization only works when you have free markets. Nothing is sustainable with the currency we have, so that has to be changed as well. Privatization without free markets just leads to fascism.

My birthday is next week, and I have to work the forth of July. I don’t have a government job. Hope you have a good one.

          • freenca

You’re right ! Free markets are a must in my opinion too. Sorry you have to work on the 4th, I had to do so for many years, so I know how hard it is to forgo the friends and/or family celebrations. May you be able to conjoin one of those in your off hours, enjoy our birthday as well as any of us can! We have some family and some friends in OR, we’ll look for you! You have a good one too!!!

            • librtifirst

I should be able to make the end of the family bar-b-q, so not all is lost.

  • keyesforpres

All part of the Cloward Pivan strategy…get as many folks onto the gov’t dole by welfare or the gov’t payroll in order to collapse the system.

    I despise these people.

    • Captain_Maynard

“Depise” alone? I expect better of you Keyes. Surely you can do much better than “despise”. How about: “Loathe”, or “Abhor” or even “Detest”? Come on. Put some effort into it my man.

On a more serious note though, I have often read through the Scriptures and wondered how men of God in the old testament (See Job, Jeremiah etc) could make statements such as, ‘I curse the day I was born’. I’ve always thought them to be such overly strong words, words I could never imagine using in reference to myself, let alone any other person.

3 years on from Obama’s inauguration, I may still not understand using such words with regards to myself. But as to another? Lets just say I now indulge way too much in the practice.

      • Sober_Thinking

Cursing the day Obama was born? I can see that.

God is in control though. Rom. 8:28 brings me comfort… though there may be more appropriate verses for this situation (i.e., Eph. 6:10-14).

        • librtifirst

Such as “vengence is mine, sayeth the Lord”.

        • las1

          Squatters… the perfect description.

  • nehemiahreturns

The nerve! The Obama’s have achieved the ultimate brass ring – living in the lap of luxury at our expense and doing as little as possible to earn it. Great example for youth, right?

    • Indeed… More of the “do as I say, not as I do” routine from them.

    • Joe

But I will vote for him anyway

‘cuz he is popular – with what – COCKROACHES and ZOMBIES?

    • oh be quiet and eat yer damned peas.

  • 911Infidel

So Mr & Mrs one per cent are doling out advice to the mush heads again. That’s right kiddies keep up that indoctrination and get that piece of toilet paper that passes for a degree these days. Then go be a useless government worker bee. That’s the spirit. Yeah you’re cooking with gas now aren’t yah? Not…

How about taking a different tact for a change? Be a revolutionary. Ignor the Kenyan Messiah, get a real job and tell the Dhimi party to “sod off”. Think for yourselves and break free of the borg.

    • Sober_Thinking

      Brilliant! 🙂

      • 911Infidel

Thanks. I would also add librtifirst’s excellent point to that missive.

    • librtifirst

You forgot to add “go into massive debt to get that piece of toilet paper, so that you can be an indentured servant for the rest of your life, due of the new laws that have been passed”. (government monopoly on student loans)

      • 911Infidel

Excellent point. The indentured servant concept is spot on.

  • NObama and Moomoo hold the ring:

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

    • Oh man Whitewolf! Excellent my friend!

  • Luke 6: 27-36. I need to read this often! Pure evil folks!

  • Sober_Thinking

He has to replace his depleted minions and meat shields.

This is pathetic… never did I ever imagine a President of the United States would encourage young people to strive for mediocrity. Yes, there is good and necessary Government work out there… but as one who was liberated (by getting my advanced degrees), I know how lobotomizing and unrewarding that work can be.

Part of what made this country great was young people learning, growing, and striving for excellence – they (we) would compete and do our best knowing that diligence, hard work, and imagination would serve us well… just like it did our fathers and mothers. This President wants everyone in Government-supplied housing units with an I’V. hooked straight up to the Government teat. This is perverted and sickening… a Matrix-like illusion where drones work and provide for the overseers… their masters… the Government.

What sickens me even more is that many brainwashed, ignorant, entitlement-minded, lazy, future Occupiers will think this is okay and even find it as an attractive option. Their parents might likely be part of the dumbmasses that sleep through life and let the media and Government have their way with them. Zombies.

Get the monsters known as the Obamas out of the White House.

    Pray, fight, vote!

    • librtifirst

You talk about the young people. Here is a good contrast in what some are doing when it comes t o politics. Overall, the country’s young people are ruined by the system.

      • Sober_Thinking

Very interesting. Thanks for the link.

We knew it was going to take a lot to get voters to get excited about Mitt. With recent events, we no longer have a choice… he MUST win now.

    • I’m prayin’ and I’m willing to fight- but I’m depending on y’all to VOTE!!

      • Sober_Thinking

I think most of us will indeed be doing our part. Pray for now. 🙂

        You rock.

  • Grumblton

I attempted to watch this-couldn’t take but a minute of it. It’s a shame that they didn’t feel fulfilled working in the private sector. Thank goodness there are those who take those private sector jobs to pay for their public sector positions. Are you worthy of helping them fulfill their dreams and need to serve the people?

  • Sober_Thinking

    Brilliant! 🙂

  • notebene

This is just plain creepy! The POTUS is pushing his communistic agenda on blindly trusting students. It’s sick and it’s wrong! Serious house cleaning will need to be done to reverse the brainwashing he’s feeding these kids! The democrats are anything but about democracy now…they are pushing pure progressive socialism…a failure system that has destroyed every society it’s been established in! We will have to do far more than just vote this out…we must drive this disease out of here! It’s time to put pressure on the colleges and universities that are pushing this garbage instead of teaching students the skills they need to make a real career for themselves. If universities want federal grants and our tax dollars, we the taxpayers should have the right to demand they clean up their houses of this destructive c r a p!

  • Horrible to watch this,. Nov 2012 people better vote or their agenda will continue.

  • librtifirst

That is good advice if you want to have a job in the future. The public sector jobs are paid for through debt that is funded by the Fed. This seems to be what the present and the future is going to entail. When the Fed note crashes, there will be a new world reserve, and the federal government might have an inroad with that to fund the police state, military, and regulatory agencies that are still useful. If you want to make enough money to feed your family and survive, government work is where it is at.

If you are going to be a slave, you may as well have the highest paying slave master.

  • David Boyes

sure, why not work on the phamily pharm ….

    • librtifirst

Since all farming is essentially government run through regulation, that is a government job as well. Without subsidies and illegal immigrants, the big farms go out of business.

      • 12grace

Yes, whoever controls the food, controls the population.

  • “We’re all Socialists now” – Or at least that’s what NObama would have us believe. But come November! We’ll fix his wagon and sent him on his merry socialist way!

  • Big government and big brother and big sister want to hug you… And crush you! And smother you to death! Remember kiddies, daddy knows best… Now do what he says not what he does!

  • DCGere

I couldn’t watch the vid, they make me sick. Betcha their idea of service doesn’t include enlisting in the military.

  • RedDaveR

These two just don’t respect private business, and they don’t understand the role of corporate profits. No wonder the economy is performing as poorly as it is, and that people are afraid to invest their money. And things will not get better until Obama and his like are removed.

Yeah, when she’s not able to squeeze her big butt into outfits designed for 12-14 yr old girls. Not a very class act IMHO.

Combine that with Obama’s tweet “still a BFD”. Stay classy there Barack Hussein…

They would be the whole damn symphony.

      • carmtom13

        You are so right!

  • kong1967

Well, I didn’t have much of a problem with Michelle’s speech. She said that she wasn’t very happy in the private sector and wanted to help people on the ground level. That’s ok, a lot of people feel that way….particularly teachers. She never suggested that working in the private sector was selfish or that ambition was bad.

Obama, on the other hand, is one a-hole son of a ****. He flat out made that dream to be selfish and that “at this critical juncture” the college kids should dream to be socialists. Ambition is bad! He doesn’t give a crap about them or their futures. All he wants is for them to help him achieve his socialist utopia and it’s the most self-ingratiating suggestion that I could throw up in his face.

You know where you can go, Obama.

  • stage9

I don’t mean to be the dissenting opinion here, but they’re right to a certain extent. If by “wealth and ambition” they’re talking about those things in themselves being a fulfilling goal, then they’re right; they’re not. And how does this differ from what your pastor will tell you tomorrow?

“What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”

“Don’t store up treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy, but store up treasures in heaven.”

Now that doesn’t mean you don’t go to college or pursue a career, but again, those things in and of themselves will never satisfy.

Ultimately, meaninglessness does not come from being weary of pain but from being weary of pleasure — having it all and still not feeling a sense of satisfaction.

I mean, that is what I took away from what they were saying. I didn’t hear them allude to working a government job, maybe I missed it. If that was their intention then of course that is absurd. Context is everything. If they were trying to convince folks that the corner office isn’t for everyone then that’s ok too. I’m not sure where they were going with their thoughts though.

Menace to our society these types. Shame on them.

  • 12grace

Like all good fascist, the obama’s want kids to work for the gov’t because they don’t want any of the American people to be self-reliant by creating jobs and a successful business.

    • librtifirst

From what I can tell, the only way to run a successful business is to have the inside track on a government contract. Since they are often exempt from certain restrictive regulations, the little guy has to become a criminal to compete.

They want as many middle class Americans working for the government as possible so that when the progressives(Communists) are ready to take down the country, they can just fire all the government workers and have their 2 class system. The very rich and the very poor. Just like the rest of the dictators.

  • members of the compost social club.

  • NCHokie02

Let me get this straight…..BO said that trying to attain a high status in the private sector “displays a poverty of ambition”??? Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Henry Ford, Mark Zuckerberg, all professional athletes….they have no ambition??? The small entrepreneur that starts his first business hoping to one day own 4-5 business’ has no ambition??

So what BO?? What do you want them to do? Do you want everyone to work for the government, where it’s practically impossible to get fired?? Don’t worry the government will help you.

Simply amazing. His hatred of capitalism and the free market is astounding.

He should have ended the commencement speech with “And may the odds be ever in your favor!”

(Hunger Games reference there for anyone that hasn’t seen or read the book)

    • Arrrggghhh

The last time I was at DMV, I couldn’t help but marvel at all the “go getters” eagerly and enthusiastically serving their fellow man. My eyes just welled up.

hilarious…such ambition they have. Hey maybe one day they will be the head of that DMV. Ah a boy can dream can’t he?

The Obamas clearly don’t understand how the wealth is created that runs this country and pays the taxes his big fat federal government relies on !!!!! Oh, those evil profits!

    • librtifirst

I like the sentiment, but it appears that you may be forgetting who creates the money, and who holds the real wealth.

The Fed Res creates the money, and the government puts us on the hook for it. Since the Fed Res note is the only legal currency to pay taxes, the private central bank owns all that is tied to it.

We don’t own the money that we have, and it is literally created by debt. Not one dollar exists that wasn’t printed (or created electronically) for debt. There is no US currency anymore, therefor the American people don’t own it.

The IRS is literally a collection agency for the Fed Res. It was created in the same year as the Fed Res as a means to collect the real wealth of the American people. So we are trading our real property for fake money that will crash in value, putting the whole country in subservience to the bankers.

Unless our government phases out the Fed through the creation of a US dollar, and controlling it constitutionally through congress, we are cooked. If our government does not do this, then we will be sold out to the next world reserve currency, while being held down by the debt of the last. There will never be a recovery.

There is no wealth being created, just a transfer of real property to the central banks through debt accumulation with a fiat currency that has no value. Evenually, every piece of property will be owned by the government through the property tax, because people who have paid off homes will be forced to use the Fed Note to pay their taxes, but won’t have them.

      • Nukeman60

There’s a small glitch. As a group, homeowners could stop paying their mortgages, destroying the banks, as well as stop paying their property taxes, confounding the government in turn. The key is to act as a group and if pushed far enough, the ultimate power will show.

Owning the money is no different than owning your home. With 30 year mortgages, we don’t really own our homes either. If the government collapsed, then we would own them, as it would be every man for themselves.

        • librtifirst

The way I see it is that our government works for the banks right now. The banks and corporations (media) put them in power. All we have to do is look at how they get $1B to fund a presidential campaign, not to mention the power positions in the house and senate.

The scenario that you outlined is contingent on us maintaining our sovereignty as a people. When it crashes, government will do one of two things. They will keep us tied to the Fed note, and use the police state and military to maintain control using banker money, or they will denounce the central bank and call on all patriots to defend this country while we restructure our financial system. The second will require that most federal agencies be abolished and real production be allowed to take place to feed and cloth the citizens.

I tend to believe that they are preparing for the first scenario. If the American people lay down and take it, then there will just be government agents going around enforcing property confiscation for the banks and the global elite. We will be put under global rule at this point. Our constitution will officially be null and void. If we fight back, then we will be under full blown lock down martial law, and troops will roam the streets going house to house as they are in the middle east.

We need to start realizing how bad it is getting, and how quickly it is happening.

        • librtifirst

Do you remember when congress was threatened with martial law if they didn’t vote for the bailouts?

          • Nukeman60

First of all, he said (in the very last 3 seconds of that 10 minute video) that “a few members were told there would be martial law”. When a Congressman says ” a few members were told” that means nobody said it, other than someone joking around in their private office. He had no verification whatsoever.

Secondly, the Democrats are usually the party to use fearmongering and dread of “falling off the cliff” to get what they want from the people. When I hear Kusinich or Sherman start to speak, I think of Charlie Brown listening to adults talk in Peanuts – Wah, wah, WAH, wah ,wah. These two people are totally useless to me.

That video was a waste of my valuable time and I’ll never get that 10 minutes back.

            • librtifirst

No doubt that there is a lot of fear mongering going on, and democrats lead the charge. I certainly would hinge any opinions solely on what one person said. In fact there is no way to form a reasonable conclusion without considering a huge spectrum of sources and reports. Everybody has their agenda, and their spin. These guys use things like this for partisan reasons.

They couldn’t even pay their bills until he got into government and she got a big fat raise based on her new source of influence!

He received and advance for writing his first book but did not write it and the publisher demanded that he return the advance, but he had spent the money… finally it appears that Bill Ayers wrote it for him!

And now they have discovered that book includes at least 38 lies about Obama’s life that have been identified so far. He fabricated the stories about his grandfathers to justify his anti-colonial attitudes…. just the way Elizabeth Warren fabricated her supposed Native American background to advance her career at two universities.

The ends justify the means with these people… truth means nothing.

They were irresponsible frauds before they were saved by his political career and influence in Chicago – is it any wonder they see government “service” as the way to go? These corrupt people become millionaires soaking the taxpayers in their public “service” jobs and they don’t serve anyone but themselves and their own ambitions.

    • williamm

It wouldn’t surprise me that Ayers wrote the book for Obama. It’s obvious that Ayers does Obama’s thinking.
As to Michelle getting that job at the university hospital, she showed she didn’t care about healthcare for the poor.

      Michelle Obama’s Patient Dumping Plan

We have nothing but con artists in the White House.

Barack, Michelle, David Axlerod, and Valerie Jarret should be be wearing prison uniforms along with Eric Holder.

When I came out of College, I had no job, huge College loans, and a piece of paper. I retired at 50, with a decent pension, zero College debt, and a comfortable life. How did I get that? From hard work in the private sector, in spite of the public sector continually trying to take every little gain that I earned.

A College grad today can do one of three things: Enter the private sector and seek to earn a good life (like I did), become an OWS bum and cry for entitlements, or go to the public sector and work (living off the taxes of the private sector).

Of that public sector, very, very few of them reach the pinnacle of success that Obama did. He and his wife are millionaires off the backs of others (but then, who wouldn’t want a $300k job doing absolutely nothing, a job that didn’t have to be filled after you left?).

Who else accomplishes that feat? Uhhh, Congressmen and women, those 535 public servants that start out at $175k and end up millionaires (with lifetime pensions after a four year stint), just sitting in Washington (otherwise known as the city of Oz), passing bills that spend our money, many of whom are under indictment for one reason or other (but yet never get convicted).

Yeah, go into government work, young man. Sell your soul.

    • WordsFailMe

Could not have been better said. Especially regarding civil service and the the diminution of soul.

It’s like squandering an inherited fortune, your life, and realizing what you had after it’s gone. It’s the difference between laboring your entire life and laboring with joy every day.

I worked for one enlightened person in Fed Service- Jack Bryant.

He described working for the government as being like, “Bowling in the dark. You go through the motions, you hear some activity, but you never know the score.”

Years after I left government service, I realized that government workers give up even caring about the score. Does that remind you of watching the Postal Workers behind the counter when you go to mail a letter? The federal/civil worker can never lose, but he can never win.

And in the end, certificates and commendation letters in the drawer, pictures of the retirement parties on the refrigerator, you realize a kind of immortality. You can never really die because you never really mattered.

The Chosen One, Obama and his wife, Michele, invite you to hell.

“The true engines of economic growth will always be companies like Solyndra.” said Pres 0bama. Pls recognize our presidents deep and serious disdain for the private sector. Pls recognize that our president has zero cognizance of the symbiosis between the host and the parasite. Pls recognize that our president has no concern about our national debt. I truly hate to say ClowardPiven but it is becoming increasingly difficult to find another explanation.

I’ve mentioned on this site before that my dad never had a formal education. He was raised very poor, pretty much starting work at the age of 6 when he would jump on the back of street cars to sell news papers.
Fast forward to proposing to my mom with 37.15 cents in his pocket. His future father in law tossed him out and said come back when you have saved 5000.00.
    …And so he did.
He did every job, machinst, boxer, lifeguard.
They were married, and War broke out. He enlisted.
After the war he opened a 5 and 10 where he worked often times 18 or more hours a day to make it a success. And success it was. Working for himself, as a small business owner was his most prized accomplisment. He loved coming in to the store every morning and tending to the shop.

He semi retired in his 70’s.

After he retired he helped my brother with his fledgling donut store by delivering donuts at 3 in the morning. And he loved that too.

You make your life what you want of it.

He had a few mottos. Everything thing in moderation, live within your means, and always kiss your wife good night.

He died a little over a year ago at 92, married for 68 years. Having everything thing he ever wanted, which inevitably was happiness.

    I miss my dad.

    • DebbyX

Thanks for sharing your touching story.

      I miss my dad too.

      • poljunkie

HI Debby. I think we said the same on Fathers day.
It never gets better does it?

        • DebbyX

Yes, I believe we did. Father’s Day is especially difficult isnt it? We are blessed to have had such great dads that we remember them all the time.

          Father’s Day or not.

          • poljunkie

Yes Debby, Fathers day was especially difficult. We were blessed.
Tonight everyone is coming over to my house in memory of my dad being gone one year. Im really not looking foward to it, because my mom will not hold up well.
My dad loved chocolate. We would give him giant Hershey bars every holiday.
Here is the table for tonight.
            I hope this links.

            • DebbyX

That sounds like a beautiful tribute to your wonderful dad. Even though I’ve never had the pleasure, you certainly made him proud I’m sure. My dad also loved his chocolate (especially fudge). And ribbon candy at Christmas 🙂

Enjoy your 4th of July Holiday. Our dads will be looking on!

              • poljunkie

                Thanks Debby.
Have a great 4th of July.

There are two schools a person can go through. The Educational system and the school of hard knocks (life). If I had a choice between two hirees, I’d choose the latter.

The most wonderful thing about your father – he lives on in you. That is the most a father could ever ask for. If I had a daughter, I would have hoped she would look like you. 🙂

      • poljunkie

Thank you for the compliment Nukeman.
        Much appreciated.
        AND it means a lot.
My dad did instill his values ( his classic line..”at the risk of repeating myself”, and we’ve done our best to pass them on to our son. You’ve often heard me speak ( or gush) about him.

I often wish that the Rightscoopers could get together for a BBQ. Wouldnt that be fun? Imagine the conversations all of us could have. ABC would be holding court, and I recon we would all have so much to talk about!

        • Nukeman60

Heh, I could see us all sitting around a picnic table, each one buried in his laptop, talking to each other. (j/k)

The BBQ really sounds like a great idea, though. Perhaps after we bury the aspirations of ‘dear leader’. 🙂

          • poljunkie

Ya, like the kids that text each other when they are in the same room, rather than talking. HA.

People need to understand that Barack Obama and his wife don’t like the private sector and never have liked it in my opinion. To them the government is the answer to every problem. Never mind that the track record of the Government is essentially abysmal when it comes to running things, including itself. Medicare is bankrupt and so is Social Security. Medicaid is also bankrupt and the U.S. Postal Service is on it’s last leg. Government subsidized Amtrak is also bankrupt and it’s one of the worst rail systems ever conceived.

Yet Barack and Michelle Obama still have the gall to tell young people that the public sector is preferable to the private sector and that bigger and bigger government is the answer to America’s problems. When in fact it is government itself that has gotten us into this mess in the first place! The truth of the matter is that the government doesn’t create jobs and that vast increases in government employees only sucks more money from taxpayers who end up paying for their careers in government and its blatant incompetence.

The Declaration of Independence along with the Constitution and Bill of Rights, were documents our Founding Fathers formulated to ensure a free people under a limited government. But obviously Barack Obama has trampled on the Constitution and has waged war on our freedoms and liberties ever since he entered the political arena and especially now as president. Obama believes the Constitution should evolve according to one’s own personal interpretation of what it should be. Obama grew up under a communist mother with a Marxist father who abandoned him. Most if not all of Obama’s childhood mentors were either communist or other radical figureheads who steered Obama’s philosophy and solidified Obama’s radical belief system. Domestic terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn were well acquainted with Barack Obama’s radical proclivities and in fact Obama’s political career was started out of their home on the south side of Chicago. But in order for Obama to ascend the ladder of political expediency, Obama needed to “blend in” to society and thus joined a so-called “church” where radical white and Jew hating propagandist named Jeremiah ‘goddamn America’ Wright spewed blasphemies, hatred and racial animosity to Barack and Michele Obama for twenty whole years as the Obama’s no doubt soaked it all in and then carried it over into the political realm, having been ingrained into their subconsciousness, and subsequently, into the White House after Barack Obama was elected president.

No wonder Barack and Michele Obama hate capitalism and the private sector! Their radical beliefs are tied to sanctimonious religiosity that “brow beats” anybody who opposes their radical agenda. What is their radical agenda you say? = To GROW GOVERNMENT more and more until government CONTROLS every facet within society and in its entirety, and where those same government elitists like Barack Obama and others… seek to enslave the populace and to restrict and *eventually* eliminate our freedoms and liberties (and Constitution) and to replace our Republic and democratic system with a dictatorship ruled by government elitists who seek to retain power indefinitely. Just like Obama is trying to do right now as a matter of fact. He has repeatedly bypassed Congress in order to implement his radical agenda and he is currently “waging war” on religion in his effort to “silence” and “control” opposing voices that try to resist him and his evil agenda.

The American people have a choice. They can choose to side with the forces of evil and vote Obama back in office. Or they can choose to side with freedom and liberty and the Constitution as it was written and decide to vote for Mitt Romney. I can assure you of this right now, that if Obama gets reelected, the devastation and economic malaise we are currently experiencing in America will only get worse in an Obama second term. Why?? Because the “Divider in Chief” doesn’t really care about you the American people, or your plot in life. Obama has given the American people record unemployment rates, record poverty, record gas and diesel prices, record number of people on Food Stamps, record housing price devaluations, record DEFICITS, record DEBT, even as he divides the country in his bid for reelection. If he actually cared about the American people he would reverse his onerous policies that are strangling the economy. If he cared about the American people he would have approved the Keystone XL pipeline, which would have immediately created tens of thousands of new jobs. But he didn’t. If he cared about the American people’s freedoms and liberties and if he honored the Constitution, he wouldn’t be waging “war” on religion like he’s currently doing, nor would he continue trampling on the Constitution in order to implement his agenda and stay in power. But he continues to do both to this very day.

Obama’s radical liberalism has shown NO signs of letting up or moving toward the center. In other words, he’ll continue to govern the country with his radical LEFT-wing policies that are currently destroying the economy and dividing the country and of course bankrupting the nation even as we speak. The ONLY way to divert such a catastrophe from continuing… is to kick Obama out of office in November. It’s just that simple.

    • WordsFailMe

You make one heck of a case against this “hyphenated” American–bigots, psychologically warped and damaged by their parents, vengeful and lacking value for the life of any other human being. There is no good beyond “self” that either Obama or his supporters, his bloodline or those who come after him can perceive.

Purging Obama is going to feel very good but his defeat only signals the beginning of a greater, final battle.

    • Nukeman60

I agree that priority one is to repeal Obama. We must also not forget that there are Republicans in Congress that continue to promote our demise, as seen by this ridiculous dismissal of the Keystone pipeline and excessive EPA regulations.

There is a lot of work to do, in November as well as in 2014 and 2016.

  • marketcomp

These people are such Hippocrates! I am so sick and tired of these phoney intellectuals and elitist who will put all of us on welfare so they can live like queens and kings over will we beg for food and work. This brainwashing rhetoric is designed to not only undermine American values but to demean work ethic and make more people dependent on Government. What they fail to articulate is that there are not enough jobs in the public sector and the private sector is the funding mechanism for the public sector! These people are so stupid and incomprehensible! Perhaps that BS rhetoric is popular in Chicago, Michelle and Barack, but it is not popular with most Americans. I cannot wait until Nov. 6 2012!

  • Coming Apart

Fair or not, for some people it is easy to talk down material success, when they have material success. what happens if we listen to Obama, and like good followers of our leader, we ALL go the work for the government……

  • NJK

And these two half wits, expect who to pay for the government? With no private sector, these two parasites, can’t figure out, that there is no government. I can’t stand these two parasites.

Why don’t we start looking into the telecommuting part of the government workers and assess the humongous waste there. Where is James O’Keefe?
