Marco Rubio is defending Chick-fil-A today and blasting the liberal mob for bullying Twitter’s CEO into apologizing for eating at Chick-fil-A.
Here’s the background:
CBS NEWS – Dorsey found himself the subject of a tweetstorm after he posted a screenshot showing how he’d saved 10 percent using Chick-fil-A’s app at one of the fast-food chain’s outlets in Los Angeles.
“This is an interesting company to boost during Pride month, Jack,” tweeted former CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien, noting June is the month designated to celebrate LGBT communities around the world.
Others also chimed in, with Dorsey offering a mea culpa in reply to O’Brien, saying he “completely forgot” about the company’s background — a statement that didn’t go over well with some conservative Christians, who also took to social media to weigh in.
Rubio, a Christian (and Catholic :), was quick to respond today on Twitter:
This lunacy has gone too far. The CEO of @Twitter bullied into apology for patronizing @ChickfilA because owners support “biblical definition of marriage”. Holding a personal view taught by mainstream Christianity is now boycott worthy. https://t.co/EnChlPBStc via @cbsmoneywatch

.@ChickfilA isn’t denying service to anyone. But if you eat there you must be attacked by the twitter mob b/c owner agrees with what his church teaches about marriage? Why would twitter mob stop at biz owned by Christians? Who is next? Christian schools? Christian charities?

The message from latest @ChickfilA incident is this: “Your church can still teach traditional marriage (which by the way we will still label as a bigoted belief) but don’t you dare repeat it outside of church or we will come after you, your business and/or your job.”

I like the way Rubio frames the ridiculousness of this by pointing out that Chick-fil-A isn’t refusing service to anyone. Heck, the way the Twitter mob went after Jack, you’d think Chick-fil-A called the cops on a black person for drinking coffee or something. Just read the replies he got.
But more than that, Rubio says the overall message from the left is that Christians have to keep their ‘homophobic’ views inside the church…or else they will become targets from the tolerance mob. He’s right about that. After all, isn’t that really the crime of Chick-fil-A, that they supported groups and candidates that believe in the Christian view of marriage between one man and one woman?
I wish I had known about this before I went to lunch. Because now I’m going have to make a special trip to Chick-fil-A to show my support for them in the face of this lunacy.
Also kudos to Rubio for speaking out on this issue.
