The battle for Iowa is heating up and the bromance between el Trumpo and the Cruznado is over. Cruz has been using the line that Trump just represents “New York values” in order to emphasize the regional differences between his Texan roots, and Trump’s New York pedigree.
Here’s the audio:

Well, el Trumpo pulled the ultimate trump card and started yelling 9/11 in response.
And there are a lot of people who agree with Trump, since New York is so intimately tied in our minds with 9/11:
Cruz tries a poll-test hit on Trump w/ "New York values."
Trump responds from the gut & FLOORS Cruz w/ how NYers handled 9/11.#morningjoe

Condemning "NY values" tells me you know little about NY. If @realDonaldTrump is smart, he'll remind people what that looked like after 9/11

The Ted Cruz "NY values" line just played into Trump's hands so completely. Not well-played Ted.

Exactly what does #TedCruz mean"trump embodies NY values"a candidate talking negative about a state when he is running for president

However Cruz’s criticism is playing in the media, the goal is to win Iowa. If he takes Iowa then the “Trump is a winner” narrative is demolished, and establishes a toehold for Cruz to keep winning. That’s the political strategy he’s employing, even if it angers some in New York.*
