El Trumpo made his archnemesis magazine “Vanity Fair” great again after criticizing them on Twitter and calling it “dead”:
Has anyone looked at the really poor numbers of @VanityFair Magazine. Way down, big trouble, dead! Graydon Carter, no talent, will be out!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 15, 2016
In response, subscriptions hit a new record:
Vanity Fair magazine broke a record for subscriptions on the same day that President-elect Donald Trump blasted the magazine on Twitter, increasing subscribers a reported hundredfold.
The magazine had the highest number of subscriptions sold in a single day among Condé Nast publications on Thursday, the company told Folio Magazine.
The magazine put up a banner on its website following the criticism from Trump, calling itself the “magazine Trump doesn’t want you to read” and encouraging readers to subscribe.
A spokesperson tells me that yesterday @VanityFair had the highest number of subscriptions sold in a single day at @CondeNast. Story soon.
