Matt Lewis, who is usually decried as a RINO, gave a pretty rational account of why it was better for Trump to abandon the AHCA like he did.

He makes some really good points. We don’t usually see a politician just straight out abandon a plan, and there are some benefits to that. Would it have been better to pass bad legislation and then own whatever happened because of a poorly written bill?
I don’t know that I believe Obamacare will “explode” like Trump says, and even if it does, that’s no guarantee Democrats will come running to him for a deal like he imagines, BUT I do believe that Trump is going to be able to move on quickly from this debacle.
He’ll just tweet something about Ted Cruz’s dad killing Martin Luther King and demand Congress investigate or something…
