The White House is reviewing a policy that would expand the Department of Homeland Security’s authority to rapidly deport illegal immigrants.
Since 2004, the agency’s expedited deportation power has allowed them to remove immigrants living in the country illegally for less than 14 days if they were apprehended within 100 miles of the border.
The new policy would allow DHS to deport illegal immigrants picked up anywhere in the country if they have not lived in the U.S. for more than 90 days, according to an internal memo obtained by The Washington Post.
A DHS spokesperson said the policy is a draft and has not been approved by Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly.
I don’t have a problem with this as long as it’s enforced equally and legally. Under the Constitution, all human beings are granted the right of due process by God. However, if they’re present here illegally, I think we can expedite their deportation without violating that right.
DHS says they recognize this obligation:
“The potential changes would allow DHS to more efficiently use resources to remove persons who have been illegally present for relatively brief periods of time while still observing due-process requirement,” spokeswoman Joanne Talbot told The Washington Post.
Of course, illegal alien advocates believe ALL deportations are a violation of human rights, which is… stupid. And ironically, some libertarians believe that as well.
