Trump responded this morning to the bashing he’s been getting in the media today and last night over the alleged words he used when speaking with the wife of a soldier who was killed in Niger:
Democrat Congresswoman totally fabricated what I said to the wife of a soldier who died in action (and I have proof). Sad!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 18, 2017
Trump says he has proof. Okay. But unless he’s willing to share that proof, it really does help us understand if she’s really lying or not. After all, it’s not the first time he’s suggested having ‘proof’.
However, to his credit Frederica Wilson is at least in my opinion a known liar when she thinks it helps her cause. Back in 2012 she said that Trayvon Martin was “hunted down like a rabid dog and shot in the street” and then called for the arrest of George Zimmerman.
So I think she’s totally not one to be trusted.
I know it’s proper for the words of the president with these widows and families to remain confidential. But if he is being unfairly maligned and he has proof to suggest otherwise, then unfortunately I think he needs to share it in the most sensitive way possible, especially if it is some type of recording. If it was someone in the room with him when he made the phone call, then they can just release a statement or something.
Either way, he needs to treat this delicately or the media frenzy will latch on to that as well.
