President Trump tweeted about the strike on Syria he ordered last night this morning in some pretty measured tweets:
A perfectly executed strike last night. Thank you to France and the United Kingdom for their wisdom and the power of their fine Military. Could not have had a better result. Mission Accomplished!

Ironically, but not surprisingly, he doesn’t know the shady history of presidents declaring “mission accomplished.” That term is now trending online as people take swipes at the prezzy.
So proud of our great Military which will soon be, after the spending of billions of fully approved dollars, the finest that our Country has ever had. There won’t be anything, or anyone, even close!

There’s a lot of formerly Trump people freaking out over this strike, and yet Trump made it very clear that he’s not interested in the least in occupying Syria.
UPDATE: As an aside on the “mission accomplished” thing, that was an example of “fake news” by the media during the George W. Bush era. His administration didn’t order that banner, it was the military that did so without his knowing. They showed up and there it was. But ever since then the media has lied and pretended it was an example of Bush’s hubris…
