Trump’s military parade DELAYED after skyrocketing costs; American Legion tells Trump to CANCEL IT

The costs keep going up on Trump’s military parade, with estimates going from $10 million to $80 million.

Then all of a sudden, within the last hour or so, the Pentagon has delayed the parade until next year:

FOX NEWS – The military parade President Trump requested for November has been pushed back to 2019, the Pentagon announced Thursday.

The event was originally scheduled to occur the day before Veterans Day, however it was moved to sometime next year, a spokesman for the Pentagon said in a statement.

“The Department of Defense and White House have been planning a parade to honor America’s military veterans and commemorate the centennial of World War I,” the statement said. “We originally targeted Nov. 10, 2018 for this event but have now agreed to explore opportunities in 2019.”

The Pentagon did not offer a reason behind the delay.

Skyrocketing costs…

Trump has received criticism over the cost of putting on a parade at taxpayer expense. Over the winter, Trump’s budget director said the cost would be between $10 and $30 million.

Since that time, cost estimates have skyrocketed upwards of $80 million.

In response to this, the American Legion says to just cancel the parade and give the money to the troops, via the Veterans Affairs:

Statement from Natl Cmdr Denise Rohan on #MilitaryParade: “The American Legion appreciates that our president wants to show in a dramatic fashion our nation’s support for our troops.

However, until such time as we can celebrate victory in the War on Terrorism and bring our military home, we think the parade money would be better spent fully funding the Department of Veteran Affairs and giving our troops and their families the best care possible.”

Honestly I think that’s a much better idea. While I do like that it would focus on the troops, I’ve never really liked the idea that much. And I’m not sure what it really accomplishes in the end, other than spending tons of taxpayer moolah.
