UPDATE: ALSO MULTI-MILLIONAIRE INVESTOR – Turns out the Las Vegas gunman was an obsessive gambler

This could be the first big clue into the why of what happened in Vegas last night:

NY POST – Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock made several large gambling-related transactions — amounting to tens of thousands of dollars — in recent weeks, a report said Monday.

It was not immediately clear whether the transfers were wins or losses, NBC News said.

Police have said Paddock had a gambling problem.

He recently moved to Mesquite, Nevada, to gamble, according to brother Eric Paddock.

Stephen Paddock also had a history of suing casinos — he filed a slip-and-fall suit against The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in 2012 that was dismissed in 2014, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Of course we don’t have near enough information yet, but I’m still going to posit a theory into why Paddock killed so many last night: It sounds like to me Paddock had lost a ton of money, maybe even his house, in the casinos and probably thought it was unfair. Perhaps he came to the some realization that the games were rigged. I don’t know. But I’m betting he probably felt like Vegas had hurt him, so he was going to hurt Vegas. What easier way to do that than a mass shooting to keep people from coming to the city, hoping the casinos lose a ton of money due to the lack of tourism.

It’s all speculation based on very little evidence, but it might explain such deranged actions.

I guess we’ll find out at some point.

UPDATE:

It sounds like Paddock had a lot of money to gamble:
