UH OH: Majority in Turkey NOW SUPPORT Erdogan’s “presidential” caliphate system

This is not good. According to a new poll in Turkey, almost 60% of voters now support Erdogan’s new “presidential” caliphate system:

YENI SAFAK – More than half of voters in Turkey found to favor presidency system in Turkey, according to figures from the GENAR research company.

The research indicated that 59.6 percent of voters support a presidency system, while 55 percent of voters say yes to a new constitution, according to a report published in the Sabah daily Turkish newspaper.

The research, which was conducted in 36 provinces of Turkey with the participation of 4,900 people, also revealed that 50.8 percent of voters would support ruling AK Party while 25.7 percent would support the Republican People’s Party (CHP), 11.1 of the voters Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and 10.2 percent support the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) if there were elections held today.

This means that should Erdogan get the little remaining support he needs to hold a public referendum on rewriting the new Constitution that will include this new presidential caliphate system, it will almost certainly pass.

Just the other day Erdogan’s chief Fatwa-giving Mufti, Hayrettin Karaman, compared the new presidential system to an Islamic caliphate system and Erdogan to the Caliph:

What this [presidential system] looks like is the Islamic caliphate system in terms of its mechanism. In this system the people choose the leader, the Caliph/Prince, and then all will pledge the Bay’ah [allegiance] and then the chosen president appoints the high government bureaucracy and he cannot interfere in the judiciary where the Committee will audit legislation independent of the president.”

Now considering this is just one poll, I wanted to know how credible it might be. If you’ll notice they tell us what the election results for the AKP/CHP/MHP/HDP would be if the election were held today in their polling results:

50.8 percent of voters would support ruling AK Party while 25.7 percent would support the Republican People’s Party (CHP), 11.1 of the voters Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and 10.2 percent support the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) if there were elections held today.

This polling results are very close to the actual results from the election in November as you can see below:

This tells me that the poll, which surveyed almost 5,000 people, is at least credible enough that it can’t be ignored.

Erdogan must be jumping up and down for joy knowing that the people now support him as their Caliph and Sultan. And I’m sure it won’t be long before Erdogan has the support in parliament to put this new constitution to a vote.

The final days of secular Turkey have surely been numbered.
