Now that Turkey is on better terms with Russia and Israel, it says that it is eager to get involved in the Middle East peace process to support the Palestinian issue and create a Palestinian state:
HURRIYET – Turkey is eager to contribute to the Palestinian issue and Middle East peace process, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said Aug. 11. Çavuşoğlu spoke at a joint news conference after meeting Palestinian Foreign Affairs Minister Riyad al-Maliki in Ankara.
The Turkish minister said Ankara had always advocated a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian issue and was going to contribute to permanent peace in the region.
“Now we have started a normalization process with Israel. According to our latest agreement, the two countries will appoint ambassadors to each county. After this step, we will also support the Palestinian issue and the Middle East peace process,” he said.
Last month, Turkey and Israel agreed to normalize diplomatic relations following a six-year hiatus.
Under the terms of the agreement, Turkey and Israel will exchange ambassadors and Tel Aviv will pay 20 million dollars in compensation to the families of the 2010 flotilla attack victims.
Israel has also agreed to Turkey’s request to maintain a humanitarian presence in the blockaded Gaza Strip.
Let me remind you of what Erdogan has said in recent past (2015), which is why I put ‘uh oh’ in the title:
“Unfortunately we the Muslims lost our aim to head towards Jerusalem. The water of our eyes froze making us blind, and our hearts that was destined to beat for Jerusalem is now instead conditioned for rivalry being in a state of war with each other.”
In the same speech he also called on Turkish citizens to:
“raise their hands in supplication for this blessed night towards Allah to restore the Al-Aqsa Mosque [Jerusalem] to be re-owned by Muslims, and to remove the mist from their eyes, to see Jerusalem in their hands at every moment and at every opportunity”.
Just a few weeks before this, his Prime Minister at the time said this:
“Jerusalem belongs to the Muslims, not to the Jews… Jerusalem our home and our Jerusalem”
This is not the heart of someone who is interested in peace! This is the heart of a man interested in one thing, taking back Jerusalem from the Jews.
Yet Erdogan is masquerading as a uniter, one who brings unity to the Muslim world peace to Israel and the Palestinians.
If you read the beginning of Zechariah 14, you will read about a battle that takes place for the conquest of Jerusalem. It’s the same battle that takes place in Ezekiel 38. I could be wrong, but I believe this is where Turkey will end up going with this Middle East peace process.
When Israel refuses to give up Jerusalem as their capital, this invasion will occur, which is what Jesus speaks about in Luke 21:
“But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.”
