UM… Cory Booker grills Pompeo on ‘gay sex’ – [VIDEO]

Sen. Cory Booker went after Pompeo this morning on the issue of gay marriage and gay sex, asking Pompeo if the thought it was a perversion.

Watch:

I can understand the questioning with regard to gay marriage given the 2015 SCOTUS decision. And I totally appreciate that Pompeo didn’t back down from his political views, that he believes two gay people should not be allowed to marry.

Pompeo also points out to Booker than there were married gay couples in the CIA that he treated with the same rights and respect they should be afforded. But Booker interrupts him and asks him about gay sex?

Way to class it up Booker!

Why does Booker have to get so personal about it when Pompeo has already submitted that he doesn’t believe in gay marriage and yet treats married gay couples appropriately? Unless, perhaps, this is important to Booker for undisclosed reasons?

Look, the truth is that sodomy is absolutely a perversion of what God created, as is homosexuality in all its modern forms. That’s the bottom line.

I think what Booker was going for here wasn’t necessarily the truth, but was attempting to force Pompeo into being provocative in an ‘offensive’ way for headlines, and potentially a failed confirmation vote.

Being a veteran at congressional hearings, Pompeo handled the classless badgering pretty well if you ask me.
