US senators confront President Morsi about 2010 “apes and pigs” comment, meeting goes down hill quick

This is a very interesting read. Apparently seven US senators traveled to Egypt last week to visit with President Morsi to give him a chance to rescind his 2010 comments that Jews are “the descendants of apes and pigs” since he says he was taken out of context. While trying to convince the senators that Islam teaches respect for Christianity and Judaism he then implied that the US media, which he says distorted his comments, is controlled by the Jews which made them all “physically recoil in their chairs in shock.”

Read the account below:

FOREIGN POLICY CABLE – Last week in Cairo, seven U.S. senators had a highly contentious meeting with Egyptian President Mohamed Morsy during which the Muslim Brotherhood leader implied that he was the victim of an American media run by the Jews.

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) led a delegation last week to Egypt, Jordan, Israel, and Afghanistan that included Sens. Chris Coons (D-DE), Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), and Kirsten Gilibrand (D-NY). Their stop in Cairo included a 90-minute meeting with Morsy that devolved into an uncomfortable set of exchanges as the senators pressed the Egyptian president to explain his 2010 comments describing Jews as “bloodsuckers who attack Palestinians” as well as “the descendants of apes and pigs.”

After the meeting, McCain issued a statement saying that the senators “voiced our strong disapproval of the statement” and that the senators and Morsy “had a constructive discussion on this subject.” Morsy’s spokesman issued a statement after the meeting saying that Morsy believed in religious freedom and “the need to distinguish between the Jewish religion, and those who belong to it, and violent actions against defenseless Palestinians.”

But inside the meeting, the discussion over Morsy’s 2010 remarks was much more heated than either side publicly acknowledged afterwards, according to Coons. Addressing the comments was the first item on the senators’ agenda, and the discussion did not go well, he told The Cable in an interview.

“We tried to give President Morsy an opportunity, now that he is the president, to put his comments in a different context because he was claiming that he was taken out of context. On their face they seemed to be very offensive and inappropriate,” Coons said. “It was a difficult conversation.”

Morsy told the senators that the values of Islam teach respect for Christianity and Judaism, and he asserted repeatedly that he had no negative views about Judaism or the Jewish people, but then followed with a diatribe about Israel and Zionist actions against Palestinians, especially in Gaza.

Then Morsy crossed a line and made a comment that made the senators physically recoil in their chairs in shock, Coons said.

“He was attempting to explain himself … then he said, ‘Well, I think we all know that the media in the United States has made a big deal of this and we know the media of the United States is controlled by certain forces and they don’t view me favorably,'” Coons said.

The Cable asked Coons if Morsy specifically named the Jews as the forces that control the American media. Coons said all the senators believed the implication was obvious.

“He did not say [the Jews], but I watched as the other senators physically recoiled, as did I,” he said. “I thought it was impossible to draw any other conclusion.”

“The meeting then took a very sharply negative turn for some time. It really threatened to cause the entire meeting to come apart so that we could not continue,” Coons said.

McCain and Graham hanging with commies.

  • I don’t why we should bother with any member of the Jihadi Muslim Brotherhood. I don’t know Kelly Ayotte, but none of the other senators are conservative. So, that may explain it.

    • Sober_Thinking

      Spot on.

  • I wonder how much it cost taxpayers so they could “voice our strong disapproval of the statement” ? Not quite as much as the 4 F 16s dear leader’s shipped over there.

I don’t think they needed to go all the way over to find out how Morsi really feels about Christians and Jews. All they needed to do was read the koran and perhaps the Muslim Brotherhood website.

    • Dittos ABinC “… read …”

Maybe the U.S. Senators and House Representatives should read the Koran that President Jefferson read.

From the Library of Congress –

“… Jefferson purchased George Sale’s translation of the Koran in 1765 from the office of the Virginia Gazette.”

    • 1endtimes2020

They should have shown Morsy that part of the Koran that speaks about killing inidels, and even lying if it is ‘productive’.

  • President Morsi spoke truth to power…

As a fundamentalist Muslim, Morsi MUST say that the Jews are descendants of ‘apes and pigs’ because the Qur’an, the Muslim how-to-be-holy-book, says so.

    Surah 5:60-
Those (Jews) who incurred the curse of Allah and his Wrath, and those of whom (some) He transformed into apes and swine.

See, Morsi is a ‘fundamentalist’ Muslim who is a true believer in the original intent of the original words of the Qur’an.

The larger question is WHY the U.S. Senators were surprised that Morsi would defend the original intent of the original words of the Qur’an?

    Why were they surprised?

They do not know that the how-to-be-holy-book, the Qur’an, is the source of Islamic supremacism.

At least, that’s the way it looks from my perch here in Texas.

    • 1endtimes2020

Any persons in their right mind could never make this up—who would believe it?—oh, just a billion or so, forced to, or else!!!

  • c4pfan

And what? I don’t get why they even went.

    • StrangernFiction

In an attempt to conceal evil.

  • Orangeone

But they will vote to write out a huge check to Egypt anyway.

    • 1endtimes2020

Don’t forget, Obama gave Egypt 2 billion dollars before the election—just in case he’d lose, I guess. Imagine how that money could have helped the ordinary families, scratching to make ends meet, while their jobs are in China. China’s manufacturing output has just gone up—todays news. They manufacture all the basic stuff that used to be marked “Made in USA” You’d think our governments would put on a huge import tax to help pay for the deficit China helped put us into. We should charge whatever we owe China and send them a bill for all the blood and treasure we spent on them to defend them from the Japanese invaders during WW2.

  • gilleysuited

Islamics justified by Koran to LIE to infidels (you and me) when it benefits Islam.

  • Ray

So, why are we giving them war planes? It makes no sense. Especially since there is a cleansing going on of Coptic Christians and Jews in all of the Arab States. It is the false religion of Revelation, and the false prophet is???? In Revelation 20, we find their method of killing those who convert to Christianity.

    • 1endtimes2020

I keep thinking about the Founding Fathers, and what they’d have to say about all these things going on today.

  • Why are these Senators trying to whitewash Morsi? We all know what he is. What possible good could come from wasting time trying to rehabilitate his image?

    • StrangernFiction

I think you know the answer to that first question. It’s an ugly truth, but the truth nonetheless. The evidence for McCain and Graham’s hostility to liberty is overwhelming at this point.

    • stage9

Because they’re idiots and they’re being led by the biggest idiot of all — McCain! They can’t believe that what he said is what he actually believes. It’s SHOCKING to them. It’s inconceivable that Morsi is actually the dirt bag that he is perceived to be!

      • They could have saved the taxpayer a ton of money and themselves all that flying. All they had to do is come on here and we’ll tell them exactly what kind of POS Morsi is.

  • Conniption Fitz

Morsi’s Apes and Pigs remark was a DIRECT QUOTE from the Koran.

    This IS Islam.

Racism, hate, aggression, misogyny, injustice, deception, slavery, pedophilia, bestiality, intolerance, persecution of dissenters and other religions. All of that is either allowed or commanded in this ‘religion.’

Islam is even directed not to make treaties with infidels. So much for the perpetual peace process and making alliances with Islamic countries.

The Western nations and the UN ignore it all and prefer to live in an alternate reality where true is false and vice-versa.

    • Patriot077

Thanks for the link to the frontpage article particularly. I have been impressed with John Q Adams’ understanding and repudiation of the Muslim mindset in other readings as well. His unvarnished perspective is definitive and stands the test of time. Geert Wilders quoted him in his book “Marked for Death”.

Both articles completely demolish the disinformation we constantly hear from the political elites and the media.

  • tinlizzieowner

I keep hearing that Egypt is getting these jets and tanks because of some sort of ‘deal’ we made with (then) President Murabak, as if to day ‘well a deal is a deal’.
I’d like to know what that ‘deal’ was and what we got out of it? Did he buy them? Did he promise to do something FOR US for them? AND since they threw him out in favor of a radical Islamist, WHY this so called ‘deal’ would be valid now? 16-F16’s is one thing 200- M1-A1 battle tanks is something else. Israel has some pretty good tanks but there’s nothing on the modern battlefield that can stand up to an M1-A1.
Egypt has only ONE threat in the Middle East now that they have adopted the Jihadi stance and only ONE need for this kind of weaponry and that is to reduce Israel to dust.

    • notsofastthere

The entire situation has changed since 2010, but I hear the Republicans say we have to follow through on the commitment. I don’t believe it one bit!
It’s like saying my neighbor is a registered sex offender, but I promised him the job before I knew that, and I can’t back out of the promise.
Our elected officials can’t contain the lies anymore – they have been incompetent all along, but it’s out in the open now.

      • 1endtimes2020

Oh, I see; we have to be honorable to the dishonorable. Oh, now I get it. How stupid of me. I should have known better. (NOT)

      • tinlizzieowner

We no more have to keep our agreements with this new government than we would expect them to keep any prior agreemments Mubarak made with us and that’s just a fact.
This is all just another case of Diplomatic Psycobabble. There’s something else underneath this and with Obama in power, I can only imagine what it might be.

  • aposematic

16 F-16s and 200 tanks; wonder what the Muslim Brotherhood plans to do with these new free American toys? What, four F-16s shipped just yesterday… It is just very difficult to believe Senators, those we have given Power to rule over U.S., can be this stupid. They could come to the local corner bar for a beer with me, at one ten thousandth of the Cairo trip cost, and I would gladly explain it all to them, even buy them a round; but that would be smart and cheap, so never will happen.

    • stage9

Israel will soon find out and Obama and his Muslim Brotherhood allies will be secretly rejoicing.

  • MadAsHellJack

Well they hate the U.S and they hate Israel but let’s keep sending them modern 21st century high tech weapons. Our Obama socialist/commie government can’t get that one world level playing field in place fast enough.

    • tinlizzieowner

It’s called ‘Fundamental Transformation’ and it’s NOT in our best interests.

  • 3d81

AAhh you gotta give credit to Morsi for saying what he really thinks unlike this current administration you don’t know what they’re hiding or what they’ll do next.

Morsi and his brothers are an open book. They are open about their thoughts and plans. It will be our fault if they are allowed to implement those plans. But respect to the man who freely speaks his mind no matter how offensive it is. Atleast you know where he stands.

    • tinlizzieowner

Obviously, members of our present government don’t.

      • aposematic

        Beat me to it…

  • tinlizzieowner

You notice how our ‘media’ has completely forgotten that Morsi called Obama “a liar”.
    😉 😉

    • colliemum

Perhaps they think Morsi indulged in a bit of taqiya when he called the POS a liar?

      • tinlizzieowner

If the Prime Minister of Israel called Obama ‘a liar’, it would never fade from the ‘media’.

        • colliemum

          Of course not!

After all, the meejah have to show Morsi that they are not controlled by the Joooos.

        • notsofastthere

The big mistake was that Joe Wilson apologized Obama for calling him a liar. Had he not, he would have gotten more air time to explain WHY Obama IS a liar.

          • tinlizzieowner

I was going to mention that incident. You remember all the (liberal) ‘media’ outrage over that comment? 😉
There was literally NO liberal media outrage over Morsi’s comments.
            Situational Media Hypocrisy.

    • 1endtimes2020

Obama knew he had to do it. Didn’t really, really really mean it.

  • tinlizzieowner

‘Hanoi John’ is on Fox News, time to change back to the History Channel’.

    • notsofastthere

That’s proof, that the bigger a jackass you are, the more coverage you get. Repub’s should learn, that to get air time you have to be a lot more outrageous, and not such a coward.

  • colliemum

You gotta love the politicians (our are the same): always on a nice little junket, to ‘learn’ something which we peasants already know full well, without travelling First Class all over the globe, on other people’s (ours!) money.

It is beyond belief that Senators, with all sort of access to information, still don’t know nuthin about islam.
Worse, they treat them as if they were no different from ourselves, so have no difficulties sending them expensive military ‘gifts’ – paid for by us.

I hope some Army and Air Force mechanics are seeing to it that these gifts have a very short shelf-life … sorta by accident on purpose, like …

Have you recovered from yesterday’s smoke-and-mirrors show yet?

I’m still combating square-eye syndrome, and am not sure if it’s better to run screaming through the house or go and hide under a blanket … not that the housewolf appreciates my screaming …

Feathers flying … well. as long as some didn’t end up in your mouth … :-)))

Thanks – just emptied and re-filled the housewolf, so there’s peace and quiet for now, as long as nobody comes to the door and rings the bell!

  • 1endtimes2020

Morsy needs to take a look at himself in the mirror. He talks like a psycopath. Another Hitler type leading a country. Why in the world hasn’t McCain and Graham et al, criticized Obama for sending those terrorists our weapons. They will be used against Israel and us, if we try to interfere. How dysfunctional can people in authority become when in power? It’s just incredible—insane, really.

    • notsofastthere

We released Gitmo prisoners only for them to fight another day. We armed and trained ‘freedom fighters’ in the Middle East only to turn on us. We trained the Mexicans to fight drugs only for them to become the Zeta drug cartel. We had Russia join in our space program, only for them never to provide finances for it. We don’t support Tiwan, but give 200 Abrams tanks to Marsi. YES – THIS IS INSANITY and no sign of it stopping.

      • 1endtimes2020

It does seem that way. There HAS to be something going on in the backrooms we don’t know about.
Hey, now there’s an idea. Let’s get rid of backrooms. Haha

  • Sober_Thinking

Um… sending McCain and Lindsey Graham over there is like adding kerosine to gasoline… both are flammable and destructive… forget about the Democrats because they are worse.

Morsi is an enemy of America and Israel… it’s so obvious that it’s frightening that these clowns show him any respect or kindness at all. And to weaponize these animals with America’s advanced military weapons (F-16s, Abrams tanks, etc.) is flat out ignorant and irresponsible. Unless they are all secretly fitted with a self-destruct package, it’s maddening to know that we may very well have to face them in a future war.

Israel must be besides themselves over this… rightly so.

  • And we are giving them weapons anyway.

  • Conniption Fitz

At Last – Council on Foreign Relations actually criticizes Sharia Law and Egypt in particular for human rights violations. h/t – Atlas Shrugs

“He did not say [the Jews], but I watched as the other senators physically recoiled, as did I,” he said. “I thought it was impossible to draw any other conclusion.”

This is what you call an idiot of the highest caliber!

“I watched as the other senators physically recoiled, as did I…”????

WHY? Why did this freaking surprise you??? Maybe you’re just not paying attention!

Why is it that I have the intellect to deduce this as a scrub civilian, but my Representatives “physically recoil” in shock as though they’ve heard this for the first time??

We are being governed by idiots!

Sorry, but this is just incredible to me.

Oh, and you’re there to give him the opportunity to “say something different because he’s president”??? ARE YOU FOR REAL???

Have they learned NOTHING from Barack Obama? What they say and do BEFORE they’re President is a pretty good indication of what they’ll do AFTER they’re President!

  • 3seven77

Speaking of apes and pigs, has Morsi looked in the mirror lately?

  • Stehekin912

I am wondering why Senators would go on a mission of this sort – questioning a nation’s leader about his views, policies and/or statements. Would that be a job for the……State Department?

  • barney59

if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it must be a duck.

    He’s an anti-Semite for God’s sake!

    How long until McLame retires???

  • You mean to tell me that Congress is just finding out that Morsi hates Jews? Say it ain’t so. NOBODY in the Muslim Brotherhood, let alone its leaders, can tolerate Jews. And they make no bones about it. They’ve been saying it for years. Always remember that Ayman al-Zawahiri, al Qaeda’s current leader and bin Laden’s second in command, was a big leader in the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Now these same crazies are in power in Egypt. But, don’t worry, both Obama and Clinton both assured us that Morsi would be A LOT better than Mubarak. And how’s that working out for the Middle East right now? Not well at all. Why am I not surprised.

  • Erdnay

But we still give him 1.5 B$ plus tanks and planes to use against Israel. Who’s idea is that ?

  • louisiana_mom

Why are these 7 Senators surprised by Morsi’s response? Have they not been paying attention to who the Muslims are? Geeesh, the Muslims have only been trying to wipe Jews off the face of the earth since the 7th Century! We have completely blind idiots in Washington!

  • tinlizzieowner

I wish ‘Da Gubment’ would give me a free M1-A1. It would sure be safer to drive in ‘Tourist Traffic’ than a Model T Ford.
I wonder if it would help if I spent a whole lot more time in the Florida sun, invaded a few of my neighbors and converted to Islam. 😉 😉
