Van Jones describes how environmentalism is in essence social justice. He describes the problem this way:
In order to trash the planet, you have to trash people. But if you create a world where you don’t trash people, you can’t trash the planet.
There’s no such thing as personal responsibility in Jones’ word. People are either a helpless victims of industry like big oil (and not their own choices) or a subsidy of a benevolent government. He prefers the latter since that involves government restructuring and redistribution.
