VP Debate: Paul Ryan’s devastating critique of the Obama administration

This was one of my favorite parts of the debate last night. Right before the end of the debate, during the last question, Ryan leveled a devastating critique of the Obama administration and their broken promises and lack of leadership that would go virtually unanswered giving the timing of it. And it was amazing.

This clip is a bit longer, but I also thought it was one of Ryan’s best moments last night:

And to think this careless lier is second in line to be President. Biden was an embarassment.

    • dontdrinkthecoolaid

As a very wise T party member once said: dememted circus money.

    • Don

Biden proved he is nothing but a lying redneck babbling like fool. The scariest part of the night was that 40% of the viewers thought Biden won. With the level of ignorance of the American people that high, we are in much more danger from within than previously thought. The truth is if more stupid people vote than intelligent people, then the democrats will be allowed to continue destroying our country.

I don’t like you, Joe Biden. I’m sick of people in this society supporting bad behavior. What does it teach our generation if you go on stage and act like a rude jerk in front of millions to try to win a debate? If that was the case, Ryan could have acted just as bad. We should not be encouraging Biden’s stupid behavior in this country. No one should give Biden a win based on his disgusting performance. Our society is going down the toilet because of people like Biden. He sucks. Now I know why Obama picked Biden. They’re both the same.

    • conservative58

There are so many Americans suffering right now and as Ryan talked about the serious issues we are facing, Biden sat there grinning and laughing.

I kept thinking about the conversations I heard earlier that day about the Mom wanting answers for her son’s murder in Benghazi, about the families of all those innocent lives taken during Fast & Furious, about all the blood this administration has on its hands, about all those struggling to find work and survive during this pathetic economy — and Biden acts like everything is a big joke!

Hey Biden — News Flash — Americans are hurting and suffering!!!
Do you even give a damn?

      • I think it is time for those in Washington to begin learning what it means to suffer! VOTE THEM OUT! We also need to CUT their pentions and healthcare to make the “playing field even!”….

  • Hard to disagree there. It was not only the best, it was the only real opportunity for Ryan and he took it.

    • jrt1031

and for JOE to state that the 47% that Romney was referring to pays more in taxes than the rich, as Biden stated many times was just made up malarky. The whole point to the 47% is that those individuals dont pay any federal or state taxes, get kickbacks and are practically paid not to work. This 47% will only grow under Obama and we cant afford it any more!!! put that in your pipe JOE….

      • …Y E S ! And Romney should start with that 47% on Tuesday….exactly like you wrote:
“those individuals don’t pay any federal or state taxes, get kickbacks and are practically paid not to work.”

        • Galatiansch2vs20

Romney admitted he was wrong about that statement. Broad-brushing is not helpful. There are many who do not pay federal income taxes (and some in states where there is not even a state tax) who intend to vote Romney/Ryan. There are retired persons on social security who don’t have enough income to pay federal taxes as well as disabled persons who don’t either, but are conservatives.

          • canscrap

Romney was not wrong, he was not referring to retirees or military or disabled. The people at a PRIVATE fundraiser understood and didn’t need to be told who he meant and who he excluded. When I heard it, I got it. He had no choice but to walk it back because the stupid people, Liberals wouldn’t understand… and it’s obvious because they are like a pit bull with it. I’m sure there are tapes out there, you know ALL THE SEALED TAPES, TRANSCRIPTS, MEDICAL RECORDS that would be much more interesting than this 47% but that’s all they’ve got….it’s not working.

            • Galatiansch2vs20

Who make up the 47 percent number he specified? Was that percentage one that does not encompass all who don’t pay federal income taxes?

              • notebene

Yep…the lifers, who play the system. Able bodied and minded, but would rather you and I pay taxes so that you and I can work for them. Our tax dollars are their “free money”. These are not the ones affected by the recession, these are people who choose to play the system.

                • Galatiansch2vs20

There are 47 percent of Americans who are playing the system and not paying federal income taxes? Can you provide a source for that information?

              • canscrap

Yes, 47% that do not pay federal income tax. You have to appreciate the audience he was talking to. His life of service to “everybody” in need, is well documented. Anybody interested in the man, can check it out themselves…. The ones that AREN’T interested, the freeloaders will not vote for Romney. The retirees, handicapped, disabled will because under President Romney there might actually be money for their benefits.
And by the way, Conservatives make up most of the military and we, should be ashamed that their votes might not count because of obama policies.

                • Galatiansch2vs20

So, then, the 47 percent encompasses all who do not pay federal income tax. Since that is the case, he was right to admit he was wrong because he broadbrushed all 47 percent as people who would vote for the president no matter what, which was not true and something I’m guessing he didn’t think it through before saying it … everybody makes mistakes.

I don’t think it is helpful when people defend the mistake in using the 47 percent number. The Americans who are a portion of the number who don’t pay federal income taxes and freeload on the government, people who could have jobs but instead laze around and take handouts- those are people very likely to be voting for the President.

There are retirees and disabled people who plan to vote Romney/Ryan not just for the money & benefits. Obama is ruining our nation and has thumbed his nose at Israel is careless with both their national security and our own. He has worked to erode our freedoms and weaken our national defense. He has no regard for the Constitution he swore to uphold and has given us crippling debt. He is sure to not appoint Supreme Court Justices who would uphold the right to life and marriage as God defined it, should a vacancy occur.

I heard the vast majority of the military support Romney and it is a crime that Wisconsin has numerous military voters being disenfranchized & the perpetrators of this crime, as well as the ones who it sounded like on Laura Ingraham’s show were reportedly trying to make sure felons in prison were able to vote and given pens to do so, should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, which likely won’t happen if Obama is re-elected.

                • canscrap

Thank you. But I do not do well with stress, so I have to limit myself.

    • Sober_Thinking

Part of what made it good was that he was able to finish a sentence and a complete line of thought.

      • Very true, but reading the MSM it would sound as Biden was awesome because he tripped up Ryan. Ryan was not tripped up, its called interrupting. Too sad that many may see it more that way than the other.

        • Sober_Thinking

          Yep… I agree.

  • Don

This debate was totally unfair. When the Vice President is exposed as a babbling fool to the degree that Ryan did last night, you almost feel sorry for Biden. Biden is not the accomplished liar his master is, but that doesn’t stop him from trying. It was very uncomfortable at times watching Ryan make a complete fool of him.

  • Rshill7

Here’s the verse that comes to mind:

“If a wise man contends with a foolish man, whether the foolish man rages or laughs, there is no rest.” (Proverbs 29:9 KJV)

    • Sober_Thinking

      So appropriate. Thanks!

  • SoLongSong

Good heavens, the SNL skit possibilities are ENDLESS!! All’s you have to do is show a doddering old man (with very bad hair – and what were those in his mouth? Chicklets?) laughing at the voices he hears in his head and every now and then blurting out words like, “MALARKEY!!” and “STUFF! (he could have added “and NONSENSE” since he’s bringing back some oldies)”.

    BIDEN: Out Of Touch

    • Sober_Thinking

Lol… I was thinking the same thing. Or Badadlibs…

The debate broke ground on VERY fertile soil for comedy.

  • conservative58

I think Ryan did very well under the circumstances! You could tell he was sincere and took the debate very seriously, unlike the joker beside him.

And I wanted to puke every time Biden said, ‘my friend…’

At one point during the debates, I thought I heard Biden call something an ‘Obamanation’. I probably heard it wrong but was wondering if anybody else heard it.

Counting the days til we can send the Obama clowns home!

    • SoLongSong

My sister said the same thing! The smirks and laughter bothered her, but the frequent “My friend” comments REALLY bugged her.

    • Sober_Thinking

I heard it to… he said abomination… but you really can’t spell abomination without Obama.

      • conservative58

Yeah, that’s probably what it was. I guess ‘abomination’ and ‘Obamanation’ could be used interchangeably.

        • “abomination” is an anagram of “obama” and “intion” 😉

          • correction:
ABOMINATION is an anagram of “obama” and “nition”…and NITION is (our) NATION being changed into something we do not like ……

  • DavidRobertson

One of the most disturbing points for me in the debate last night was when Biden said we have plenty of time with Iran because they don’t have a “missile to deliver the payload”.
    1. Is the plan to wait that long? wow.
    2. Does any reasonable person think that Iran or any other rogue country is going to detonate a nuclear bomb via missile these days? No…even a hack like me knows that if we see a detonation (especially terrorist sponsored) it will come by much quieter means.
    Very disturbing..

    • SoLongSong

It’s the pre-9/11 (both ’01 and ’12) mentality of the Left.

    • Sober_Thinking

You nailed it. I was so waiting for Ryan to nail him on that… I was screaming at my T.V. – “Look at all the missile tests they’re doing?!?!?!”

You’re right… a bomb is a bomb… whether it’s delivered in a suitcase, a missile, a backpack carried across the Mexican border, or a boat parked off our coast; it will still kill and terrorize. And for Biden to suggest that we just wait and see is enough to prove that he’s an imbecile.

      • jim Asherman

Biden seems to think that Iran cannot build a Nuclear ( or more accurately an Atomic) bomb.
It is well documented that they have the same A.Q Khan plans that Pakistan and NK use.

    • conservative58

And could you believe Biden was laughing about Iran building the bomb?

    • RUSSIANS WILL HELP IRAN to get it!

    • detectivedick

The Obama plan is simple, Believe. Yes, just like the Muslim Brotherhood is a nice group in favor of Democracy.

    • Galatiansch2vs20

He acted like they would have the intelligence to detect if there was a weapon that could be used. But Prime Minister Netanyahu already had pointed out it’s much easier for us to spot underground facilities where the uranium is being enriched and much easier for our enemies to hide the actual weapon.

And given the alleged failure of intelligence lately, does Biden actually expect the American people to gamble their lives on it?

  • rsox1

Ryan did well, given the braying jackass to his right and the hostile moderator right in front of him. What we saw last night was a superhuman effort from Ryan to avoid lunging over and beating the crap out of the old man…I wouldn’t have been able to restrain myself.

    • SoLongSong

I was freakishly proud of Ryan for that. Biden was clearly trying to get a rise out of him and tried EVERYthing he could think of (which seems to amount to “Laugh Derisively” – I bet he’s been chuckling up a storm these past six days in preparation, the poor thing).

As my teenager would say, Biden = Epic Fail.

    • GaltLine

George Washington would have had him flogged.

    • Vice presidential debate moderator Martha Raddatz and her former husband hosted President Obama at their wedding more than 20 years ago, ABC News confirmed Wednesday.

    • MiketheMarine

Me either. In fact, I had to switch to the crappy Steelers game about 30 minutes in as I feared for the safety of my television set.

  • Sober_Thinking

This was indeed one of his shining moments.

Joe wasn’t smiling or laughing then was he?

The truth hurts don’t it Joe. Go on, say it ain’t so…

  • Nukeman60

The exchange about the unemployment rate in Scranton was brilliant. By asking Biden if he knew what the rate was (I suspect Biden did not), and then asking him what it was when he took office, Ryan set Biden up to make himself look stupid.

How can you say, “yes I know the unemployment rate is now 10% and it was 8.5% when I took office” in one breath and then in the very next breath say, “But it’s not going up. It’s going down.” Ryan got Biden to use his own words and Biden knew it, as he looked a bit irritated afterwards.

  • I’ve noticed that same sneering/condescending/laughing sarcastic brushoff every time NObama got a question or comment he didn’t like. He always puts on that mock stupid smile when he has no answer. Seemingly Biden got the memo.

  • 911Infidel

Plugs is such a jerk. Ryan comes off as a respectful, decent guy. What a contrast. And Martha…partisan..from beginning to end. Jim Lehrer was way better. Martha has a got a really annoying voice, she growls at times from the back of her throat, kind of like a cat making loud noises while in the process of mating.

  • Perhaps the finest thing you can say about Ryan is that he actually looked, sounded, and behaved presidential. Biden looked and sounded a bit unhinged and I think people were actually scared at the thought that a guy like Biden is actually one heartbeat away from the presidency. Ryan’s performance may not have won the election for Romney, but it certainly made it a lot easier for Romney to win. For the country to know that Romney picked a solid, thoughtful, conservative for Vice President makes people feel more confident in Romney’s decision-making abilities. But with Joe Biden, you have a disaster waiting to happen. I don’t think Joe did Obama any favors in this debate and he may have even hurt him.

  • 911Infidel
  • deeme

I think what stood out in the Obama Romney debate and the Biden Ryan debate is the cheap shots and lies..vs…Class and eloquence…I mean in the first one Obama was so frustrated because he’s used to telling his lies about what they will do to the middle class and seniors with no opposition from anyone , just the msm chiming in more lies…Then last night Ryan not only had to say composed, while being laughed at, but he never actually pointed out the lies..you could see his forehead go up when Biden lied about so many things..like taxes, medicare, healthcare and wars he didn’t vote for…but he remained calm and knew the fact checking would be done, thank you Karl Rove…I am a little upset , when Ryan had the chance he didn’t mention that he didn’t believe in infanticide ,like our current President…One thing about Ryan , he always has memorable lines…well thought out..looking at faded Obama posters in the room you grew up in…

  • RosiesSeeingRed

I think we need an ad showing lefty “journalists” talking about how “mean” Romney was last week, and then it should be contrasted to them jumping for joy over the fact that Biden attacked, interrupted and ridiculed. The crazy lefties won’t see the hypocrisy, but the undecideds will.

    • Nukeman60

As much as I dislike Carl Rove, he said something today on FOX that rang true. Ryan was trying to win over the undecided and independent voter last night during the debate, while Biden was trying to win back the liberal base. I’d say they both won in that regard.

Biden (and Obama) can have their liberal base ( and I’ll say it’s not 47%). We’ll take the independents any day of the week.

      • poljunkie

Exactly. The liberals were probably never going to vote for Romney, but after Obama’s poor performance last week, combined with his record they were contemplating staying home. But Joe was sent out to rally them up. Give them reason to believe.

Its amazing what different mindsets we have- because his actions and comments would totally turn me off. But I think he was able to reassure the Dem base.

The Indies hopefully were able to see a measured and confident man in Paul Ryan, and hear a positive message.

    • lefty journalists occasionally drip down from FuBar Ack’s arshe to pee………usually on conservatives.

    GOOD JOB !

  • dirty fight:
    1. moderator Martha Raddatz and her former husband hosted President Obama at their wedding
    2. Biden might get the questions BEFORE the debate.
    3. Ryan might tell him: IT IS NOT FUNNY when you ruin our country and cover it with lies”

  • DNC motto:

  • Army_Pilot1967

Biden came across as a first class jerk that has no real interest in solving America’s problems, he’s too busy being a clown!!!!

  • PFFV

Joe Biden was a disrespectful jerk but then again he is a Democrat so I guess no one should be surprised. Paul Ryan won this debate because he spoke the truth with class.

  • info

…it is quite obvious to anyone that President Barry HUSSEIN Obama’s plan is to DESTROY the American Economy in which he is doing a masterful job . Now America have you finally WOKEN UP I sure pray to God that you all have for the sake of all LIBERTY LOVING PEOPLES around the world . Elections have consequences , America make this one a ROMNEY / RYAN VICTORY .”(period)

  • bjohnson55

I would like to see a list of fact checks on what Joe “DUFUS” Biden stated during the debate. Just a couple I caught was his statements on his vote against war in Iraq and Afghanistan was an outright lie. His statement that the Obama Administration did not blame the Libya incident on that video, LIE!! The guy was a bloviating ASS yesterday and it scares the hell out of me to think that village idiot is one heartbeat away from the most powerful position on Earth. Please, May God Help US!!!

  • Absolutely greatest moment of the debate. I’m pretty sure that it was this event that prompted the moderator to start cutting Ryan’s answers off.

  • joyfulgiver

Paul Ryan hit the ball out of the park, in my opinion. Considering he was interrupted 82 times by the VP and 31 times by the moderator in a 90 minute debate! Biden’s condescending behavior is not appealing at all. And, it certainly is NOT acceptable for a person that is number two in charge of the United States of America.

“The president says he has a plan…it’s a speech.”
“Just words, Just speeches.” Barack Obama

Now I find out with a little investigating that O actually used these words from a speech that Deval Patrick spoke in a speech in 2006. O used them almost word for word in his speech in 2008. Watch this side by side. Revealing!

    Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M6x1H08aFc

    • Galatiansch2vs20

Wow- guess we were reminded of the same thing? I hadn’t seen this and had posted that same Obama quote!

  • Biden also needs to know that the 14% that Romney paid on that money was already taxed at the hightest rate. So he is double taxed!!! Why is no one saying this???? People need to understand that people who make all this money, pay 38% tax plus REINVEST IT, and have to pay taxes on it again!!! They way they make it sound is that regular people get taxed at 28% and the Rich ONLY have to pay 14%. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!! Also, we need to keep at this “kingdom” about the DEBT they have added… DEBT = BAD, simple enough?

  • This vice-president is a disgrace.

    • jim Asherman

Joe Biden delivered the most inappropriate performance in the history of televised debates.

  • HuandaRulz

Our Country is in serious trouble domestic and abroad and Biden seems to think that the best the Country deserves is a good laugh. He is nothing but a petulant, disrespectful and inept VP. January can’t come soon enought to get both of them out of the White House.

  • Galatiansch2vs20

1st clip…. comment on Obama’s promise/supposed plan to cut the deficit in half: Obama: “Just words, just speeches.”

2nd clip…. Someone wished Ryan had not provided the answer to his question, thinking Biden would’t have known the answer if he said, “What is it”? ( I don’t know if they were right.)

Scranton, PA 10 percent unemployment today- was 8.5 percent when they came in office. My edit- It’s going that way in much of America.

Biden math: Listen, that’s not how it’s going, it’s going down! One of the small number of times where Biden had some serious looks on his face while Ryan was speaking.

Biden said he always says what he means- so that means he is a racist at heart (Indian accent, back in chains comments) and he believes the middle class has been buried the last four years. Perhaps they should do another ad, with him saying the middle class has been buried the last four years and then him saying “I always say what I mean.”

  • This Vice-President is a disgrace blowhard! For those who think that being obnoxious is a winning strategy – is sadly, sadly, mistaken!!

  • practigal

If I were an undecided voter, I’d have been so turned off by Biden that the combo of Obama last week and Biden this week would seal the deal on pulling the lever for Romney.

    But I’m not undecided. 🙂

Thanks for showing the split screen. We don’t have cable & watched the debate on PBS. They don’t do the split screen. But we could HEAR Biden’s chuckling and sighs while the camera was on Ryan. I was aghast.

CNN’s Candy Crowley is moderating next Tuesday’s presidential debate. Since we don’t have cable, I read up on her http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candy_Crowley . I see on this wiki entry that the participants in next week’s town hall debate will be undecideds chosen by Gallup. So, a CNN host will be moderating, and participants selected by Gallup will be asking questions. How do they get away with Left-leaning everything in these debates?

Interesting that even still, the energy and polls are going Romney’s way. MSM be damned.

  • Kordane

Where was Paul Ryan on limiting government? I didn’t see that. I only saw two statists arguing over the details of how to implement statism on the people. The Left want the entitlement/welfare state, and Paul Ryan wants the entitlement/welfare state. Is this the best that Conservatives can muster? It was pathetic. It was a miserable day for the cause of limited government.

Did the founding fathers advocate an entitlement/welfare state? – No. But Paul Ryan wants it; he thinks it’s moral/noble; he wants to protect it and ensure that it continues forever.

Tell me, Conservatives – Where the hell are your limited government candidates? Do you want limited government, or not? Tell me now, or else shut the hell up, get out of the way, and let Libertarians take command of the battle.

  • Tatty_D

Wish full thinking. What comical self delusion. Biden wiped the floor with this light weight charlatan.

    • notebene

Only if you call lying thru his false teeth debate. Libs are incapable of debate, it requires too much thought, not bullying emotion. Biden is a shameful tool who has sucked off the government teet his entire pathetic life and it’s shameful that he ever made it to the office of VP. He is neither a man of morals, nor substance. He is a blowhard, ignorant fool. “wiped the floor”? Really? He was vulgar and rude…appropriate behavior for the mafia, not the office of VP. I’m taking it you’re a union tool…this behavior is straight out of their socialist, mob rule handbook.

  • my favorite part was when Paul says, you say you aren’t attacking the Catholic church, then how come they are always suing you!!! (HHS mandate).
