Watch James O’Keefe’s Latest Undercover Video on Twitter big brother

James O’Keefe has just released his latest undercover video from his investigations into Twitter. This video specifically addresses how Twitter uses (and abuses) your information:

Project Veritas has released undercover footage of Twitter Engineers and employees admitting that Twitter employees view”everything you post” on their servers, including private “sex messages,” and “d*ck pics.” The engineers also admit that Twitter analyzes this information to create a “virtual profile” of you which they sell to advertisers.

I watched this latest video and honestly, I’m underwhelmed. Perhaps it’s because I know that anytime you use a service like this, unless it is explicitly stated that your information is encrypted when you send and receive it, that they can see it all. Not only can they see it, they mine the data and sell it to advertisers. And they probably use it to advertise directly to you.

Remember the controversy over Gmail when it first came out, how their servers will read your email so they know how to advertise to you? This is nothing new.

If anything, it does remind us that using Twitter’s DM service is not really private, at least when it comes to them. But I kinda think that goes with the territory of using a service like this.

Now I think this would have been a blockbuster if O’Keefe had proved that Twitter was telling us one thing in their policies and doing something else. But he never made that argument, I guess because they are in compliance with their own policies.

But perhaps I’m missing something big here?
