UPDATE: Q&A ADDED – Trauma doctor gives UPDATE on Steve Scalise condition

Hospital trauma chief doctor Jack Sava gave an update on the condition of Steve Scalise, which he says remains critical:

Watch below:

It sounds like from the description of Scalise’s injury he was shot at a fairly sideways angle as the bullet traversed from one side of his pelvis to the other, if I heard that correctly. They call it a ‘transpelvic gunshot wound’.

Sava said when Scalise arrived he was in critical condition (as critical as one can be) with imminent risk of death. However after two surgeries, he said the risk of death has been substantially decreased.

He also pointed out that Scalise would be in the hospital for a while. He couldn’t say how long, but during the Q&A he did suggest ‘weeks’. After that he’ll need time to recover and to rehabilitate.

I’ll post the Q&A shortly for those of you who want to know more…

UPDATE:

Here’s the Q&A where he does go into more detail per the questions. I runs about ten minutes and it’s cued up to 2:38 where it begins:
