Welfare spending limits makes advocates feel like the poor ‘can’t manage THEIR money’

Washington Post reporter Elahe Izadi gave the position from advocates of the poor against Kansas’ new law that limits what welfare recipients can spend on, and how much they can spend per day. On the way there she made a pretty ridiculous statement, saying that the limits make advocates feel like lawmakers believe the poor “can’t manage their money.”

Watch below:

OK here’s the thing. Don’t you think it might be a sign of poor money management if you end up ON WELFARE? When I was out of work for a while I relied on my savings instead of getting public assistance. Because I planned ahead. Now sure, there are many poor people who end up on welfare through little fault of their own, and they should get that help. But to call it “their money” when they’re specifically getting it from the government, out of the pockets of the taxpayer, is insane.
