Today Obama endorsed Harry Reid’s efforts to change the filibuster, but Andrew Kaczynski reminds us of a time when Democrats loved the filibuster:

  • Ahhh you gotta just love you tube. Nothing says hypocrite like a democrat with their lips moving.

    • MeanGreenBeret

They sure are quick march out the constitution when they want it to work in their favor.

      • Just like they do with the Bible. hmmmm.

        • MeanGreenBeret

Yeah, I caught that too with the final speaker in the clip. Hypocrites.

        • Constance

I’ve always wondered why they don’t start screaming and recoiling in terror when they come in contact with a Bible. Like that little kid in the original Omen movie who freaked out in the car outside the church. 🙂

          • lol no kidding!

          • E. Lee Zimmerman

Yeah. Shouldn’t someone ON OUR SIDE file a lawsuit against their using the Bible? I mean … wouldn’t that be fair play?

      • Constance

Yeah, they march it out, then they march all over it later.

In the small and elite community of men with whom you work, perhaps you know a friend of mine, Verde Asseseno aka Ases, Green Beret/delta unit? If so, tell him Vdad said hello. Thanks warrior.

        • MeanGreenBeret

Formally GreenBeretWay. Just changed it to mean the other day.

          • virginiagentleman1

A good name change for a warrior. More expressive of the job at hand.
Have you given some thought to my question, re: verde assesino?

            • MeanGreenBeret

I noticed you “Liked” my prior comment already. If you are currently on I will provide the information here for you.

              • virginiagentleman1

I am on now. It is 12:22pm est. After I “like” it you’ll know I have it, so please remove it from view at that time. ( I learned that from Ases , like you, a very cautious young man)

                • MeanGreenBeret

                • virginiagentleman1

Thank you. Please delete it warrior. VG

                • MeanGreenBeret

                  Did you get it?

                • virginiagentleman1

Yes, I did, and thank you. I sent you an e-mail. VG

Speaking of you tube milady, your newest video is yet another fine message! As I told you in my e-mail, you’ve got a real gift! Don’t you dare stop! You’re just getting into second gear dear one! VG

      • Aw thanks myVirginiaGentleman! I had to do some research for my next one today. Hopefully I’ll be able to get another one up in a couple of days. It’s a lot of time- but worth every minute. Thank you SO much for your encouragement! I couldn’t do it without you and some others. xoxoxo

        • virginiagentleman1

Just keep on fighting the good fight Patriot. God will guide your words and your hand. VG

          • 🙂 Amen. I will never stop unless I’m taken out by Him.

            • virginiagentleman1

Milady, if MeanGreenBeret asks you questions about me, please feel free to answer them. Thank you.

  • We get to suffer for another 2 years of this because the GOP continues to throw their own under the bus. It would have been funny if the shoe was on the other foot. I guess I can dream.

  • colliemum

Make this video go viral, so that the people can bash the dem Senators with their own words.

Mind – of course tradition and constitution don’t count any longer for Obama, so why should he care, but the dems better be made aware that this attempt can and will be used against them when they become the minority in 2014 – as they will, what with their tax shenanigans, their budget shenanigans and this, their power grab.

    • The problem is that no one seems to care what they say. It is just as important to inform people of what one stands for. I think that is one problem. It is easy to attack and stay in that mode while forgetting to share what you stand for.

      • colliemum

True – but one can ask how come they were sooo for the Constitution then, but aren’t now, and what has changed that the Constitution can now be disregarded?

And frightening some of those dems into pondering that this will be used against them when they become the minority should concentrate some minds …

        • Yes, if the electorate desired to pay attention outside a week or two before the election, then it would be of a great benefit.

However, it would seem to be something of a dream. When reality does hit, O will blame the R’s and the R’s will blame the conservatives and we will be more vilified than before. O is blaming the R’s for the need of tax increases and it seems to be working.

    • I just tweeted it again 😀

      • colliemum

        Well done, ABiC!
        You’re great!

  • Constance

Is it just me, or has Harry Reid always looked like an old, dottering man? Was he ever young, or did he come out of the womb like this? Geez Louise.

    • Oy!

    • Rocco11

I’m far less concerned with how he looks than I am his communist belief system. Obama seems to have allowed all these Leftist skunks to let their hair down…

      • Constance

I agree, but I had to make the observation. As long as I can remember, Harry Reid has looked this way. Cranky-faced and ancient, with a sappy voice. Harry Reid is a menace – an absolute menace. The only way to stop a menace is to stand up and tell him NO, and get in his way at every turn. The republicans could do this. I just don’t fancy them really trying. I hope they prove me wrong.

  • marketcomp

If someone asked any of the voters what a filibuster is none of them would neither know nor understand how it affects the Senate and the ability to pass legislation. I would love to hear how MSNBC and Al Sharpton explain the filibuster rule to their audience. Most of whom are high most of the time on some kind of mind altering illegal drugs and would not even began to comprehend this move. I think if an articulate republican, preferably Rand Paul or Mike Lee, can explain what the filibuster is and it’s implications then the dems will back down!

    • freenca

Now that would be very entertaining to see, I’ll be betting on the Mike Lee & Rand Paul side to win it. MSNBC & Al Sharpton are very creative though and they’d make it up as they went along, as they so often do. 🙂

      • marketcomp

Can you imagine Al Sharpton in his civil rights movement cadance trying to explain the Senate filibuster rules and how the dems want to change it? He would probably use a bullhorn to shout at his audience! What a clown!

  • I think they had better be careful what they wish for.

    • freenca

As the power changes from one party to the other, this issue comes up over and over. The ones in the majority want to remove the filibuster and the minority doesn’t want to, then the next shift of power, the inverse occurs. The founders put the filibuster in place for good reason. We should keep it along with our Constitution and Bill of Rights too, regardless of the opinions of the ins this time.

      • Depends on the motivation for it. Filibuster was removed so no singular group could run roughshod over another.

Furthermore the FF’s didn’t make the Constitution nor the Bill of Rights sacred documents equal to the word of God. They made those documents with the full intent that they could be amended.

If you want purity tests then do away with those damn committees.

  • stage9

Folks, liberals do this sort of thing on purpose. They know what they’ve said. They know they’ve defended the filibuster in the past. You don’t have to show them this. It isn’t that they’ve forgotten, it’s that they’re opposition to it today is simply a means to an end. That’s all.

That’s why repugnantcans are losing and liberals are winning; they know how to use whatever circumstance they find themselves in to create an opportunity to continue their agenda without skipping a beat.

Today a filibuster may not benefit their agenda, but tomorrow that may change and they’ll be standing there fighting on the Senate floor for the right to filibuster.

It’s call Alinskyism. Everything is a means to a greater end.

“The man of action views the issue of means and ends in pragmatic and strategic terms. He has no other problem; he thinks only of his actual resources and the possibilities of various choices of action. He asks of ends only whether they are achievable and worth the cost; of means, only whether they will work. To say that corrupt means corrupt the ends is to believe in the immaculate conception of ends and principles.” — Saul Alinsky

  • I actually do think that if the Democrats try this, there WILL be a rebellion in the Senate from the Republicans. And it would be about time we get a pulse out of those people. The Republicans know what’s at stake here and I don’t think they’ll let it happen without a big fight. Well, we’ll see.

    • virginiagentleman1

I don’t believe that the republicans have as much sand as you think they do my friend. They have become masters in the art of caving in; on honor, principle, constitutional issues and honesty.
But they are quite good at stabbing the American citizen in the back, a trait they share equally with the democrats.

    • c4pfan

      I don’t!

  • Rshill7

If they’re going to have to filibuster in order to filibuster. I say filibuster.

  • E. Lee Zimmerman

Bottom line: they were against the filibuster before they were for it.

  • WhiteGuy2

Smoke and mirrors. I’m waiting till Obama claims absolute power and authority just like the President of Egypt did. Wont be long now,….the writing is on the wall.

    • marketcomp

      Anyday now!

  • DebbyX

    Makes me sick, these hypocrites!

  • sjmom

Hypocrite – a person who pretends to be what he is not.
Hypocritical – of the nature of hypocrisy, or pretense of having virtue, beliefs, principles, etc., that one does not necessarily possess.
    Both are from

I remember this and this is what the Dems forget. The American people remember!

    • tinlizzieowner

Situational Hypocrisy. When you now oppose the exact same things you praised to get you elected.

  • Rocco11

60 Minutes will not be covering this story. We live in very corrupt times…

  • c4pfan

Reid has nothing to fear from the GOP. Even if by some miracle the GOP took over they would think of some way to still give the Rats enough power!

  • tshtsh

When we were “little”, my younger, smarter sister would say “I will clean the tub on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday”. When the day rolled around, she would switch to the other days of the week since she was adorable she never cleaned a shared bathtub. Not to worry she has always been a conservative despite her early flim flam deals.

  • Nukeman60

I’m not a big fan of the filibuster idea anyway. I say the majority should rule. Just be careful what you ask for, though. The Dems won’t rule forever and when they need their filibuster, it won’t be around.

Let them pass their crap and watch it hit the fan. Sometimes you just gotta let idiots run into the wall. It will only hurt for a little while, just before it all fades to black. (oops, I used the word black. Was that racist? I never know anymore)

    • Constance

Yep… according to the latest government handbook, your term “fade to black” does indeed fall under the racism umbrella. That will be a fine of $500 and a public speech made at the NAACP telling them how horrible you feel for your selfish use of a word that causes so much pain to so many people. 🙂

      • Nukeman60

Excellent. It would be worth the $500 if I could bring Col. West along and we could tag-team them. We’ll bring KFC. 🙂

    • freenca

They, the dims, think they won’t need it again. Let ’em hit that wall. Fade to black is a movie word, so not offensive, b/c Hollywoodies use that word too, with impunity. What’s good for the gander, and all that! 😉 This all red-herring speak for Hitlery answering in front of us in congress for her Benghazi screw up. They are just trying to run out the clock so she won’t have to answer for the reason the ambassador being in a secret negotiation in a non-affiliated facility in the first place. Anything to get THAT out of the limelight. The Susan Rice bologna too! It’s to protect Hitlery- 2016! IMHO.

  • kloyd0306

It’s time to hijack all the TV networks and play this clip on a loop for 30 mins as a substitute for the nightly news.

    I know, I’m dreaming……

  • iHeartLife

“Filibuster” always reminds me of Malcolm X and his speech “The ballot or the bullet”, where I came across the word for the first time. In it he said the “uncle sams” were filibustering, and the filibuster going on that was screwing over the black man wasn’t the governor’s fault, it was the fault of the government because it’s in the house of the senate that the filibuster was happening. So naturally I came away thinking filibustering was a method used by the politicians to skew a constituency as much to their favour as possible.

    I guess that’s not how it is…

But I doubt X would be happy with this video. No doubt he’d call out Obama for playing for “the man”.
