White House says Trump did NOT apologize

I saw the video the other day of Erdogan telling PBS that Trump apologized for how the US handled the incident where his Turkish bodyguards and diplomats beat up Kurdish protesters outside the Turkish Embassy. But I chose not to post it because I didn’t believe him.

Turns out he was lying:

FREE BEACON – The White House on Wednesday denied President Trump apologized to Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan for indictments filed against Turkish security personnel for their role in attacking protesters in Washington, D.C., in May.

The denial came after Erdogan claimed Trump had apologized to him for the incident during an official call between the two earlier this month. “I’m very sorry about that,” Erdogan said of the incident during an interview with PBS. “Actually, President Trump called me about a week ago about this issue. He said that he was sorry, and he told me that he was going to follow up on this issue when we come to the United States within the framework of an official visit.”

Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders disputed Erdogan’s account. She told the Washington Post that the issue was discussed on the call but there was “no apology.”

Erdogan went on to blame the protesters and members of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) for his security physically beating the peaceful protesters. “The protesters were insulting us, and they were screaming and shouting,” Erdogan said. “The police failed to intervene properly. And similar protests were seen around the White House as well when we were inside of the embassy residence. The protesters were very close to my car, to my vehicle.”

Erdogan is a megalomaniac who has seized nearly all-powerful dictatorial powers in his own country in part by oppression, intimidation, and sometimes eradication of media outlets. Heck I just read an article last night about a truth-telling website in Turkey that has been blocked over 60 times. Whoever runs the website keeps changing the number at the end so people can still access it (if they know the number). But I digress.

My point is that Erdogan is not a man who can be trusted. He’s used the phony coup last year to purge thousands and thousands from the government, education, medicine, etc…and the list goes on. He’s purged and remade Turkey’s judiciary in his image. He’s a power hungry Sultan who wants to resurrect the dead and gone Ottoman Empire, and he’s doing it.

So when he says Trump apologized to him for this incident, you must take it with a grain of salt considering how much he hates the Kurds. Even in that very interview he went on to blame the protesters who were supporting the kurds!
