From the Washington Post:

Two police officers who had just been sworn in at a city council meeting in a Minneapolis suburb were shot and wounded Monday night outside city hall, police said.

As the council meeting was ending in New Hope, Minn., about a dozen miles from Minneapolis, a person allegedly approached and fired shots. Two officers were hit and other officers returned fire, killing the attacker, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mike Carlson told KARE-TV.

The officers are said to be in good condition.

KSTP-TV reported the two officers sworn in were Joshua Eernisse and Adam Johnson, though police did not confirm whether they were the injured officers.

A video and audio recording captured the scene inside council chambers, which was mostly empty except for a few council members. Muffled gunfire is heard outside.

“Get down, get down. Everybody get down,” says a man, identified byKMSP-TV and other news outlets as council member John Elder. Elder is apublic information officer for the Minneapolis Police Department. During the incident, the man kneels behind the desk, pulls a handgun and aims at the door.

“That went right through the door,” another council member says.

“Get down,” the armed council member responds. “Everybody get down.”

“Somebody got shot,” the other says. “Stay down.”

Then the armed council member addresses the camera, saying: “If this is being taped, go to commercial. Go away from this.” And the audio cuts out.

Near the end of the video, an armed police officer comes inside the council chambers and checks out the area.
