Reince Priebus is using his knack for the worst political messaging effort ever made in human history to try to persuade anti-Trump conservatives to cover themselves in shame and slime and jump onto the Trump train!!
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus threw icy cold water on the idea of a third party candidate in the GOP.
“They may as well jump off the top floor of a building because that’s what we’d be doing by having a third party,” Priebus told Reuters in an interview published Friday.
The comments come as rumors fly over efforts within the Republican Party to put forth a third party candidate to thwart presumptive nominee Donald Trump.
Priebus, who met with Trump this week, emphasized that a third party run hurt the GOP’s majority in the Senate.
“If you don’t participate in the presidential election you might as well kiss away the Senate as well,” Priebus said. “The Senate goes as the presidential race goes. They’re inextricably intertwined.”
Priebus has been at the forefront of the attempt to unify the party behind Trump. Both he and House Speaker Paul Ryan met with Trump on Thursday in Washington, D.C., in an effort to arrange an eventual endorsement of Trump by the Wisconsin congressman.
“My guess is they may even be talking today and through the weekend (on the phone),” Priebus said, noting the dialogue between the two has now been opened.
This is unbelievable. In previous years we were forced to support a moderate Republican with the same damn threat they’re making to try to get us to support a far left Democrat pretending to be a Republican. Well I say screw that, I’m done with these idiots…
