Mike Pence fires up the crowd by delivering a great speech yesterday at the 9/12 DC rally:
I really like Mike Pence a lot and I really enjoyed this speech, although I will take issue with one thing he said that I hope was nothing more than a misstatement. He said at one point that the Constitution gives us our rights and that defending those rights are also enshrined in the Constitution. Not exactly. God gives us our rights and the Constitution merely protects those rights from being infringed upon. That’s it. Obama had it right when he said that the Constitution was a document of ‘negative liberties’, not one that tells people what the Government will do for them. Obviously he hates that about the Constitution, but his analysis was correct. Again, I hope this was a misstatement and not a reflection of Pence’s beliefs.
