CNBC Debate: Cain hit with scandal question, Romney hit with follow up

CNBC moderator Maria Bartiromo asked Herman Cain that if the voters believe he has ‘character issues’ as a result of the recent scandal, why should they vote for him? And she was booed for asking the question. Cain’s answer was stellar, saying that “the American people deserve better than someone being tried in the court of public opinion based on unfounded accusations.” The crowd roared.

Romney was subsequently asked by John Harwood, that given the recent scandal, would he hire Cain as a CEO. The crowd really responded at that point with even more boos and Romney was applauded when he basically refused to answer and deferred to Cain.
