NBC News: Iowa Is “too white, too evangelical, too rural”

This is news to me. I mean, I guess I never thought about it, that Iowa is too white, too evangelical, and too rural. But Andrea Mitchell sure has (h/t: RCP):

So let’s play this out. Let’s say for argument sake that a reporter for Fox News suggested that Michigan, namely Detroit doesn’t represent the rest of the country because it’s too black. How do you think that would go down?

Now Mitchell is saying that they were just citing the concerns of critics and not trying to stereotype the state. Critics? Does she really mean the talking heads that frequently give commentary on their leftist network, the ones that make everything about race all the time? That’d be my guess.

UPDATE: It’s worth mentioning that Obama won the Iowa caucuses in 2008. How ironic that it wasn’t too white back then.
