This ad is lethal. The Romney campaign released a new ad today that puts ample context around Obama’s stupid remark Friday that the private sector (you know the one with really high unemployment) is doing fine:
The thing about Obama’s comments, as I showed on Friday and as Romney showed in this ad are that they were very much in context. The news media is trying to say that the full context was that Obama was trying to make a point about job creation in the private sector being better than the public sector. So? That’s exactly what was so wrong with his comments, that he thinks job creation is going so well in the private sector that he can say it’s doing fine and then contrast it with how poor the government sector (you know the one that depends on the private sector) is hiring. But that’s bass ackwards! Everything in the public sector relies on a very productive private sector or else everything collapses. And with unemployment just ticking up last week, his comments look super out of touch.
I’m with the Romney team on this one. They nailed it.
