Real American Stories: The Drama has already begun – UPDATE: Problem Solved – Old LL Cool J interview cut from show

Earlier today it was announced that Sarah Palin would do the first installment of a new series called “Real American Stories”. This is the supposed press release:

FOX News Channel (FNC) will present the first installment of a new series, Real American Stories on Thursday, April 1st at 10:00PM/ET.

Hosted by Sarah Palin, Real American Stories will feature real-life tales of overcoming adversity throughout the American landscape. The debut episode will focus on a range of such stories including a Marine Medal of Honor recipient who gave his life to save his comrades. Also, the special profiles a wealthy stock broker who donates much of his fortune to underprivileged students so they can attend college.

The program will also feature country singer, Toby Keith, who will explain the inspiration behind his song, “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue.” Additionally, rapper and actor, LL Cool J, and the former Chairman and CEO of General Electric, Jack Welch, will both speak about their success in this country in a segment entitled, “In Their Own Words.”

The program will also be presented on Sunday, April 4th at 9:00PM/ET.

The reason I say ‘supposed’ is because Mediabistro, who apparently published the press release online, has since deleted it without noting why. Here’s the link that everyone is using for the source. Also, note the bold part.

There’s more after the jump.

Ok, now for the drama. Apparently many feel that the above press release indicates that Sarah Palin will be interviewing LL Cool J and the others. Here’s the promo Fox has been rolling tonight:

LL Cool J doesn’t seem very pleased. He has been tweeting the following like a maniac to everyone he knows:

Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palins Show. WOW

I think the use of the word ‘lifted’ is a bit liberal. He did the interview for Real American Stories back in 2008, which is owned by Fox. And to another point, no one has seen the show so it’s not known how they will use the clip.

At any rate, he seems upset and I’m sure that the MSM will jump all over this. It sounds to me like it’s going to amount to nothing.

As a bonus, here’s another promo from the website:

UPDATE: Fox has decided to cut LL Cool J’s (aka James Todd Smith) old interview from the show (via TVNewser):

A Fox News spokesperson tells TVNewser, “Real American Stories features uplifting tales about overcoming adversity and we believe Mr. Smith’s interview fit that criteria. However, as it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others, we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career.”

I LOL’d at the use of the word ‘fledgling’.
