This stuff is just whack. It’s not even close to Christianity in truth of message. BLT, as demonstrated below, seems to almost solely focus on earthly victim-hood status of being oppressed, as if that was the purpose of Jesus dying on the cross. But his dying on the cross had nothing to do with our earthly circumstance of being either rich or poor, slave or free. In fact Christianity isn’t about identifying with the poor or the disenfranchised – anyone can identify with them; but rather it’s about passionately loving and pursuing a God who has offered us freedom from what we all so very much deserve – and that is Hell. Yes, we deserve Hell. All of us. But He has seen to it that we might be free of death and Hell to live with Him eternally. That is the most important thing, and that is what salvation is about. Everything else he commands, including helping the poor and the oppressed, and preaching His message of salvation to the world, comes after the fact of knowing Him. Our salvation doesn’t depend on helping the poor, it depends solely on knowing Him.
But what you hear in the video below is something completely different. It’s a perversion of the Biblical message of salvation and will only lead someone to the bowels of Hell.
As a side note, I like to explain the idea of knowing Jesus (salvation) in these terms: Everyone in America knows who Obama is. And because of that, you might think you can just go to the White House and see him. Go ahead and try, and let me know how it works out. But the truth is that it’s only if he knows who you are, that he will let you enter the White House. And that’s the way it is with Jesus. Many people say that they know Him, but unless you are in a relationship with Him where you offer Him the chance to know you intimately, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Just food for thought.
