FT HOOD UPDATES: Shooter killed 3, injured 16 using .45 Smith & Wesson; Being treated for behavioral issues

LATEST UPDATE: Below is a summary of the official Fort Hood press conference:

– Shooter killed himself after being engaged military police.
– No report of incident starting from an argument with another soldier.
– No indication of terrorism, but not ruled out
– 3 killed by shooter, 16 injured
– Shooter served 4 months in Iraq in 2011.
– Shooter had behavior issues, possibly PTSD. Was undergoing treatment for depression/anxiety. Was on medication.
– Shooter used .45 Smith and Wesson purchased recently in the area.
– Shooter has wife in the local area.

There is an active shooter(s) at Fort Hood right now and there are reports of multiple people shot.

KCENTV – We have reports of an active shooter on Fort Hood.

We have reports that there are several injuries from this shooting. There is at least one patient being transported to the hospital.

We are also getting reports of victims in the Battle Simulation Center on 65th and Warehouse.

The suspect is still at large. The shooter was said to be in building 33026 which is the Medical Brigade Building.

Reports have said that he was driving a gray Toyota, described as a white male in an Army Combat Uniform, and carrying a .45 handgun.

Fort Hood has been put on lockdown.

Central Texas College has been evacuated only as a precaution.

These are all preliminary reports.

UPDATE: At least one dead, multiple injured:

At least one person is dead and three injured following a shooting at the Fort Hood army post, according to the CBS affiliate in Waco. Fort Hood has confirmed the shooting, but has provided no specific information regarding injuries. Authorities say the shooter is still at large.

KWTX also reports approximately 20 rounds were fired. The FBI, Bell County Sheriff’s Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety have been asked to respond.

The above KCENTV stream reports in the name of CNN that a shooter is dead. It is unknown if it is the shooter or if the dead shooter is one of two. CNN also says that 15 people are wounded but these numbers may be changed.

UPDATE: Fox News reports that officials have confirmed shooter is dead. The number of injured has been reduced from 15 to 14. The shooting was near the motor pool. **7:36 PM EST**

**7:45 PM on Fox News, Rep. Peter King says it’s preposterous to claim this is or is not terrorism. Press reports ae already circulating suggesting work place violence as opposed to terrorism.

 
**7:55** EST FOX NEWS REPORTING FOUR FATALITIES INCLUDING SHOOTER. STILL REPORTING 14 INJURED. LAW ENFORCEMENT SOURCES SUGGEST SHOOTER MAY BE A WOMAN.

UPDATE 8:06 Gateway Pundit reporting name of shooter as “Ivan Lopez”

 
UPDATE **8:39 PM** Bell County sheriff’s deputy confirm shooter is 34 year old Specialist Ivan Lopez, 1st Battalion, Warrior Transition Brigade. Fort Hood officials have not independently confirmed this.

 
UPDATE: Hospital official: conditions range “from stable to quite critical.”

Official: some victims have MULTIPLE gun shot wounds.

Official: Victims heading into surgery with serious injuries. Chest, abdomen, extremities, and at least one shot to the neck among the wounds.

Baylor Scott & White hospital treating 4 victims currently, two more en route. Same hospital treated approx. 11 victims of previous Fort Hood shooting.
