Ben Shapiro: No, Trump Jr can’t cite attorney-client privilege to protect discussions with his father [VIDEO]

Ben Shapiro was asked today about Donald Trump Jr. using attorney-client privilege to keep from disclosing a discussion with his father.

As you may have heard, Trump Jr. did this yesterday in front of the House intel committee:

Testifying in a closed session before the House Intelligence Committee, Mr. Trump claimed that his conversation over the summer with his father, two days after The New York Times disclosed the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower in Manhattan, was protected under attorney-client privilege because lawyers for both men were on the call.

In short, Shapiro says he can’t use this privilege to keep from disclosing the coversation:

Don Jr. says both his and Trump’s lawyers were on the call, but Shapiro makes the case that just because a lawyer is on the call doesn’t mean the call is privileged.

The only way Trump Jr. could assert such a privilege, according to Shapiro, is if the attorney on the call was the attorney for both Trump Jr. and his father. However even then Shapiro said it would be a pretty weak case to make.
