Bloomberg press conference on clearing Zuccotti Park

Last night Bloomberg had the NYC Police remove the Occupy Wall Street protesters from Zuccotti Park. They will be allowed to re-enter, however they will not be allowed to camp going forward.

Here is his press conference explaining his actions:

Here are a few videos from last night as the removal was taking place (h/t: Mediaite):

Was it just me or did anyone else notice they waited until Obama had left to go to Hawaii to start clearing the OWS leeches out of the parks?

In America, the protestors hope for police brutality, in Arab countries, the protestors hope to keep their lives. This is no revolution.

I find the choice of Zuccotti Park in the first somewhat interesting. Its status as a privately owned park thats open to the public. I don’t really believe that choice was just a coincidence.

Parks like that are frequently concessions made by developers for political approval of something else. However, these privately owned parks are frequently much better maintained than publicly owned parks as their owners do take pride in their own parks.

Relocate them all to the White House lawn. They can feast on Moochelle’s garden, urinate on the bushes & sit around singing communist unity songs.

Great call. This is where they belonged in the first place. Obama & family would be out there to join them.

They could sing – what do Muslims sing at Christmas time? – whatever, they could sing it together.

Best post yet on this thread. The cops should round them up, put them on choppers, land on the White House lawn and dump them out. “Hey obama. they said they’re friends of yours. Mind if they camp here until November 2012?”

They’re canceling OWS? Bummer, it was the funniest, most-idiotic reality show on tv/internet. I’m gonna miss it. /sarc

You can be sure they will “squat” somewhere else and be supplied with tents, etc. by the likes of George Soros.
Stuart Varney thinks they will go to liberal college campuses where they will be made welcome…for a while.
Bloomberg is a first class a-s.

Weasel Zippers is breaking news that a sympathetic judge has ordered that they be allowed back into the park, with their tents!

This is private property isn’t it?

Zip must have gotten that from here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/

OT, but just found this…

US for Palin is reporting that Sarah Palin, appearing on FOX tonight (Greta’s show), will declare who she thinks among the Republican nominees is the best bet to win against Obama.

http://us4palin.com

Actually, I hope this isn’t true. I don’t think that’s a good idea. It’s WAY too early in the primary run. Sarah should stay clear of this and not join in on the “let’s let the media pick the winners” bit.

If Bloomberg thinks he’s out of the woods, he’s got another “think” coming. Once you are identified as a movement supporter who later turned on the collective, you are deemed doubly evil. When you start your ride on the back of the tiger and you often finish with a ride inside. Either the protesters or the residents of the city you have shamed will make you pay for every inch you gave the OWS in the last two months, Bloomer. If I were you, I wouldn’t spend a lot of free time picking a site for your mayoral statue. If they ever put a public latrine in Zucchotti, maybe you could get a plaque. Or maybe the OWS will spray paint your name on one of the park benches where you allowed them to put a swastika. Who would have dreamed that a guy so rich could be such a… Read more »

My, that takes me back!

Not that I’m old or anything.

That Robespierre. What a cut-up!

About time they cleared out that rabble. OWS are the 21st century version of the violent, insane Jacobins.

That’s right John. O’ should ceremoniously change his name to Robespierre and refer to the OWS folks as his little Jacobins.

I don’t get this. All they had to do was tell folks, “you can leave anytime you want, but nobody gets back in.” And then, not let anyone back in, for any reason. No supplies, no port-a-johns, nothin’.

Why the big scene? Was Bloomt**d trying to give them their “Kent State” moment?

Who said they were even worried about port a johns ?
