Bosnian Muslim Gunman Kills Two Soldiers Then Commits Suicide, Police Describe ‘Detonation’

Sarajevo – A man on a “shooting spree” in the capitol city Wednesday murdered two Bosnian soldiers, fired at several civilians and a third soldier, and then fled the scene. When police tracked him down, they described hearing two “detonations” in his home before finding him dead inside.

The attacker, identified as Enes Omeragic, opened fire with an automatic weapon at a betting shop near the army barracks in the Rajlovac neighbourhood of the capital, killing two Bosnian armed forces servicemen.

While fleeing the scene, he also fired at a city bus wounding a third soldier. The bus driver and two passengers were injured by broken glass, a Sarajevo police spokesman said.

Reuters reports that the investigation is still underway and authorities have declined to assign a motive to the killings. However, the killer had recently “become an adherent of the ultra-conservative Salafi Muslim movement.”

Other reports indicate that the shooter shouted “Allahuh Akbar” as he attacked. This is not he first such murder committed in Bosnia by a Muslim gunman this year.
