The Arizona House of Representatives has just passed a bill that will require signature verification for all ballots:

In case you’re wondering, Republicans hold 31 seats and Democratas 29, so this was the definition of a party line vote.
Democrats are, of course, lying about the bill claiming it will result in voter intimidation or something:

How is contacting someone to verify their signature intimidation? If someone calls you and asks you if you voted, you just say yes or no. If they ask you about your signature, perhaps why it’s not there, you just say you screwed up and forgot to sign it.
They’re also suggesting that a ‘missing’ signature is totally fine:

How hard is it to sign a ballot? You either sign it if you want it to count, or you don’t. If you “don’t want to be bothered” and aren’t going to sign your ballot, then why even vote at all? This isn’t just some Twitter poll we’re talking about here. Elections are serious because they directly affect our representation.
What this ‘verification’ is really about is getting fraud out of the system. If someone attempts to verify a vote that you did not make, then they know it’s voter fraud and to throw out the ballot. That’s why Democrats are so opposed to this bill, because it severely inhibits their ability to cheat.
In case you’re wondering, the Arizona Senate is a 16-14 Republican majority. Just like the House, Republicans only have a two seat majority. Hopefully all Republicans will pass this bill and the governor signs it.
