BREAKING: NY Times Opinion Editor who allowed Tom Cotton’s “Send in the Troops” op-ed has been PURGED

The New York Times has just announced that James Bennet, the Editorial Page Editor who allowed Tom Cotton’s “Send in the Troops” op-ed that triggered leftists everywhere, including over 800 staffers at the Times who signed a protest letter, is resigning:

Not only is Bennet being purged, his deputy is also being ‘reassigned’:

Amazing. We told you last Thursday that Cotton’s op-ed triggered staffers so much that they were holding a town-hall on Friday with Dean Baquet, the executive editor and Mr. Bennet, the editorial page editor, to allow them to vent their frustrations. Well that musta been some town-hall.

Either way you look at this it’s crazy. After all, Tom Cotton is a sitting U.S. Senator and there was nothing controversial about his column. He simply called on the US to “send in the troops” to stop the rioting, looting, and restore order. This is an opinion shared by many Americans, especially those who’ve seen their businesses burned down and trashed by looters and rioters.

As Cotton pointed out the same NY Times editor, Bennet, allowed the Taliban to post an op-ed voicing their demands this year and nobody cared. But because he allowed Cotton’s op-ed, he’s forced to resign? Wow.

Here’s a few reactions from the Twitterverse:
